A Boots spokesperson told Fabulous that one Korean beauty product sells almost every 15 seconds at Boots and represents over a tenth of all skincare sales.
And it seems for good reason, many beauty experts have said that South Korea is estimated to be 10-12 years ahead of
Europe
and the US in terms of skincare and aesthetic treatments.
Here, Fabulous reporter Leanne Hall, tries out the viral Korean skincare routine for two weeks to see whether she ends up with glass skin and which new ingredients are worth the hype.
For context, I love
South Korea
and its culture and even visited earlier this year, and yes, I took home lots of skincare goodies.

But I had no idea that many of the products were now readily available to buy in the UK, thanks to Boots, and I was eager to see what was on offer and how well they worked.
I retired my normal skincare routine - opting for a new six-step routine using only K Beauty products for two weeks.
My skin is on the combination side and pretty sensitive, meaning active ingredients, fragrance and sunscreen all tend to break me out quickly.
Anua Heartleaf Quercetinol Pore Deep Cleansing Foam - £13

The perfect cleanser for all skin types

This is a relatively basic foaming cleanser, but one that does the job.
Most read in Fabulous
With somewhat oily skin, I prefer a foam cleanser to others, and while this left my skin feel squeaky clean, it didn't dry it out.
I don't think this did much to make my skin have that shiny glass finish, but it was the perfect building block to start my skincare routine with.

Medicube Zero Pore Pad 2.0 - £24

These toning pads help banish clogged pores
Credit: Boots
These Medicube pore pads are constantly coming up on my TikTok timeline so I was eager to try them out.
They promise to gently exfoliate the skin with a blend of chemical exfoliants - 4.5% AHA Lactic Acid & 0.45% BHA Salicylic Acid.
The pads are super easy to use, and I did see a difference with blackheads and clogged pores after using the toner.

It also promises to help shrink pores, but I'm yet to see the difference there.

Anua PDRN Hyaluronic Acid Capsule 100 Serum - £20

Once the toner has been absorbed into the skin, it was time for a serum.

A serum was not something I used before this experiment but is now something I can't live without.
This Anua PDRN serum is super lightweight but packs a punch with its active ingredients.
The blend of PDRN (salmon DNA taken from it's semen) and hyaluronic acid gives your skin a well-needed boost of moisture, increases collagen and help skin rejuvenate quicker.
What is PDRN?
Leanna Zaman, Boots Beauty Specialist
, explains: 'PDRN is hitting the headlines for all the right reasons.
"Derived from salmon DNA, which surprisingly shares a lot of similarities with our own DNA, PDRN-based skincare is great for most skin types and suitable for all ages.
"In fact, anyone experiencing skin damage, dryness, or dehydration can benefit from PDRN's skin-loving properties.
"I recommend pairing it with other humectants, such as Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides, to enhance its hydrating and barrier-restoring effects."
I'm fully aware the thought of putting salmon semen on your face is weird, but it works and has become a holy grail ingredient in South Korea for a reason.

Tocobo Multi Ceramide Cream - £21

Tocobo's whipped face cream provided moisture without clogging the skin
Credit: Boots
When I first tried this moisturiser I was nervous.
It has a thick whipped texture which is often too heavy for my skin type and clogs my pores.

But after two weeks of using it I am pleased to report that I haven't had any issues with it.
Instead, my skin has never been softer or more hydrated thanks to it being enriched with ceramides to moisturise the skin.
I've often suffered with flaky dry skin around my chin but this immediately cleared it up, a total must-have.

Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics - was £15.50, currently £13.95

This sunscreen was quick to absorb and left a glowy look to the skin
Credit: Boots
I know sunscreen is important to wear, but this is another product that I tend to skip.
I have tried too many SPFs to try and count them all and each one has had my skin breaking out almost immediately.
But I'm pleased to report this doesn't seem to have caused any acne since using it every day.

Not only has it kept my skin clear, it absorbs quickly, leaves skin glowing and doesn't hurt when it goes near my eyes.

Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask - £26
9
The Medicube mask locks moisture in overnight
Credit: Boots
This particular Medicube buy has been going viral on TikTok with many praising it for giving you instant glass skin, so naturally, I had to try it.

You simply do your usual skincare routine before applying a thick layer of this clear mask to your face.
You then want to let it dry for 15 minutes to dry down and then you can sleep.
Not only is this super fun to peel off (don't worry, it doesn't hurt like the ones in the 90s) it also instantly makes your skin glow.
After peeling it off you are left with the softest skin you've ever had which reflects when the light hits for the perfect glass skin.

Final Thoughts
Using these products together has absolutely made a difference in how my skin feels and looks.
My skin genuinely feels more hydrated than it has ever been. (Trust me, I can say this with confidence, as I was berated for how dehydrated it was when I went to a facialist in Korea.)
Not only was it so much more hydrated, making fine lines (hello 30) disappear but it left my skin more plump and glowy.

While moisturising the skin, I also found I didn't break out as often as I normally would.
For those wanting an extensive skincare routine, I would recommend all of these products. For those wanting to splurge on one wonder product, the collagen wrapping mask is a must-have to give skin an instant lift, perfect for prepping for big events.

Why mums are sticking criss-cross plasters over their children's belly buttons when heading off on holiday this summer

AN unusual parenting hack is going viral online ahead of the summer holidays. However, experts have broken down whether or not this unique step works. 2 cross wound dressing. bandage isolated element Credit: Getty Parents have been placing plasters in a criss-cross shape on their children's belly buttons before travelling this summer. According to them, this DIY trick can help to ward off motion sickness. TikTok mum Victoria ( And another mom-fluencer Ttsagana ( Read More On Parenting "Here's what I do to prevent motion sickness," she informed her TikTok followers. Instagram user Jasmin ( "I know, it sounds super crazy, but it totally works for both my children," she said. "They used to be so poorly during longer car rides." Most read in Fabulous However, there is no science to back up this step as a method of curbing motion sickness. Pediatrician Mona ( I've tried for ages to potty train my 3-year-old, then he watched ONE Ms Rachel's video and started doing it immediately First, she explained that motion sickness happens when the brain gets conflicting messages. The inner ear senses movement when travelling on a vehicle so when your child is focused on something still like a book or tablet, their brain gets confused. This causes a mismatch which can result in nausea, dizziness, and sometimes vomiting. "So unless this band-aid hack can magically rewire the entire sensory system, it's just another myth," Dr. Mona said. However, she added that if it seems to have a placebo effect on your child, then you should continue using it. More parenting hacks IF you want to make your life easier as a first-time mum, here's nine hacks you won't want to miss. 1. Routine Charts Create visual charts for daily routines. Use pictures and stickers to make them engaging for younger children. 2. Meal Planning Plan meals a week in advance to save time and reduce stress. Involve your children in meal prep to teach them cooking skills. 3. Toy Rotation Keep a portion of toys stored away and rotate them periodically. This keeps playtime fresh and exciting without the need for constant new purchases. 4. DIY Cleaning Solutions Make child-safe cleaning solutions using vinegar and baking soda. It's effective and keeps harsh chemicals away from little hands. 5. Time-Out Jar Create a time-out jar filled with calming activities written on slips of paper. When emotions run high, children can pick an activity to help them settle down. 6. Educational Apps Utilise educational apps and websites to make screen time productive. Look for ones that offer interactive learning in subjects your child is interested in. 7. Command Centre Set up a family command centre with a calendar, key hooks, and a bulletin board. It helps keep everyone organised and aware of daily schedules. 8. Emergency Kit Keep a small emergency kit in the car with essentials like snacks, water, first aid supplies, and a change of clothes. It's a lifesaver for unexpected situations. 9. Label Everything Use labels for clothes, school supplies, and lunch boxes. It makes it easier to keep track of belongings, especially in shared spaces like schools. And if your child continues to feel sick while travelling, the health professional recommended other ways to tackle motion sickness. She advised parents to consider the seat position of their child if aged two or older. According to her, you should also keep your car cool and crack a window if possible. Distracting your child by playing I Spy or encouraging them to look out the window can also help nausea. And finally, hold off on heavy meals before travelling and focus on light snacks to settle your child's stomach. I lost 6st with fat jabs & now have abs at 42 – the exact diet I follow not to put any weight back on

A MUM has revealed how she lost 6st using weight loss jabs after hitting a size 18. Ellen Ogley, 42, weighed 16st 12lbs at her heaviest and said comfort eating was the primary cause of her rapid weight gain. 3 Ellen Ogley weighed 16st 12lbs and was a size 18 at her heaviest Credit: SWNS 3 Now she has lost 6st thanks to the fat loss jabs and a new diet Credit: SWNS 3 The mum-of-three is now happier than ever and is chuffed to have abs at 42 Credit: SWNS Now, the mum-of-three has abs after completely changing her She first lost three stone naturally but on an "unsustainable diet" so she could get a "quick fix" tummy tuck but was still unhappy with her body. Ellen then decided to try Now the mum has kept between a healthy 10st to 10st 3lb and a size six for eight months. READ MORE WEIGHT LOSS STORIES She says the one thing she's done that's helped her maintain her weight is swap two-weekly takeaways and binge drinking weekends for 'fakeaways' and weight training and now feels "amazing". Ellen, a nursery manager, from Ilkley, Yorkshire, said: "I wanted to make sure I wasn't reliant on Mounjaro. "I used this as a tool. I've done so much work on damage limitation. "I want to give others hope they can keep it off. I feel incredible." Most read in Fabulous Ellen started "comfort eating" and piled on the weight in a period of sickness - before she was then diagnosed with cervical and ovarian cancer. She said: "I had blow outs and would have takeaways and binge drinking - it was a coping mechanism. I wanted to lose a few pounds so hopped on the fat jab trend - 4 days in it's not worth it, the side effects are awful "I'd have two to three takeaways a week. My drinking was excessive. "My husband and I would have three bottles of wine between us - it helped numb everything." Ellen had to have a hysterectomy and was told she was at a higher risk due to her BMI - which was 36.5 at her biggest. She said: "I said to myself 'if I come out the other side I will try and take control of my health'." What are the other side effects of weight loss jabs? Like any medication, weight loss jabs can have side effects. Common side effects of injections such as Ozempic include: Nausea : This is the most commonly reported side effect, especially when first starting the medication. It often decreases over time as your body adjusts. Vomiting : Can occur, often in conjunction with nausea. Diarrhea : Some people experience gastrointestinal upset. Constipation : Some individuals may also experience constipation. Stomach pain or discomfort : Some people may experience abdominal pain or discomfort. Reduced appetite : This is often a desired effect for people using Ozempic for weight loss. Indigestion : Can cause a feeling of bloating or discomfort after eating. Serious side effects can also include: Pancreatitis : In rare cases, Ozempic may increase the risk of inflammation of the pancreas, known as pancreatitis, which can cause severe stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. Kidney problems : There have been reports of kidney issues, including kidney failure, though this is uncommon. Thyroid tumors : There's a potential increased risk of thyroid cancer, although this risk is based on animal studies. It is not confirmed in humans, but people with a history of thyroid cancer should avoid Ozempic. Vision problems : Rapid changes in blood sugar levels may affect vision, and some people have reported blurry vision when taking Ozempic. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) : Especially if used with other medications like sulfonylureas or insulin. After she got the all clear Ellen decided to lose weight in September 2023 but wanted a "quick fix". She said: "I was looking for an easy way out. I went to see a surgeon for a tummy tuck. "But I needed to lose three stone in order to have a tummy tuck and liposuction to get skinny." Ellen started intermittent fasting and restricted her diet to get down to 13st 10lbs. She said: "I was doing it in not a very healthy way. "I was almost starving myself. It was not sustainable." Ellen went for her £10k tummy tuck in February 2024 and was happy with her results but had hoped the surgery would help shift more of her weight. She said: "I only lost 4lbs more after the tummy tuck. "I was devastated. "I became obsessed with my body - pulling at it, I had huge hang ups over my arms." Ellen decided to give weight loss medication a go and started Mounjaro in May 2024 - coupling it with cardio exercise. She said: "I thought it was going to be another diet trend but the food noises got switched off. I got trolled - they called me Skeletor, I was being told I looked like a 60-year-old. Ellen Ogley "Before I would raid the cupboard when my husband took his daughter to gymnastics. "As soon as I went on I realised 'I've not touched the snack cupboard'. "I started making better lifestyle choices." Ellen was on the jab for just 22 weeks - weaning herself off slowly - but started become obsessed with getting as "skinny as possible". She said: "I lost my focus. I got trolled - they called me Skeletor, I was being told I looked like a 60-year-old." When her husband, Phil Ogley, 53, a surveyor, told her she looked ill she had a wake up call and refocused - taking up weight training. Now she feels "healthy and strong" and has maintained her weight loss without micro-dosing Mounjaro. She said: "I've been learning how to fuel my body. "I have hacks in place - if I'm craving sweets I have Greek yoghurt, berries and granola. "I still have takeaways but I exercise portion control. "We make chicken kebabs as fakeaways instead of ordering them as takeaways. "I have abs at 42 - it blows my mind." Ellen's Diet Change Diet before Breakfast: Skipped Lunch: Jacket potato, cheese and beans Dinner: Pasta bake, apple pie and custard Snacks: Packet of biscuits, cookies Diet now Breakfast: Greek yoghurt, berries, granola/ overnight oats Lunch: Chicken salad Dinner: Chicken and sweet potato fries/ tortilla wrap pizza
