Meet KeAndre Lambert-Smith, the Chargers Hall of Fame Game breakout with an NFL uncle
Los Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith introduced himself to the NFL world on Thursday night in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. Lambert-Smith scored a really nice touchdown during the preseason game for Los Angeles to go along with a beautiful catch from a quarterback Trey Lance pass in the first half. If you're unfamiliar with who Lambert-Smith is, he was a fifth-round pick by Los Angeles in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Auburn. He played at Penn State from 2020-2023 before transferring to Auburn for his last college season. His uncle actually played in the NFL, and you've absolutely heard of him. Lambert-Smith is former Settle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor's nephew. Talk about a football factoid to make you feel old! According to The Athletic's Robert Mays, the Chargers are quite high on the rookie receiver. Chargers fans will want to keep an eye out for Lambert-Smith throughout the rest of the preseason.

Hugh Freeze explains how he could use both Ashton Daniels and Deuce Knight for backup QB
Hugh Freeze believes that the QB2 role will depend on the situation at hand. Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold is slated to be the starting quarterback for the Auburn Tigers this season, but who will step into the role should be need arise? Stanford transfer Ashton Daniels has plenty of experience against Power Five competition and has great stats to support his campaign. However, true freshman Deuce Knight is seen as the face of the future, and getting early reps could bode well for his development. Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze addressed the issue this week ahead of the start of fall camp. After careful evaluation, Freeze feels that the role of QB2 will be split, and the winning candidate will be determined by the situation at hand. 'Probably situational. Ashton (Daniels) has a ton of experience with plus one runs at quarterback and obviously throwing the football. He put up some really, really good numbers rushing wise in a good league. I think you have to look at that a little differently. I don't really want to throw Deuce (Knight) out there and call quarterback runs. Not that he can't do it, but you want him to be ready for all that. You look at certain roles or certain situations and I think there's two different deals going on. If I need somebody to go in and throw a vertical route, Deuce may be the better option there. So I think everything is situational there.' Daniels has one season of eligibility remaining after playing three seasons at Stanford, where he started 20 games. He passed for 3,986 yards and 21 touchdowns while rushing for 1,117 yards and nine scores during his time as a Cardinal. Knight, a left-hander, has been compared to former West Virginia quarterback Pat White due to his dual-threat ability. However, lacks the experience as he has yet to take a collegiate snap. Auburn makes the top eight for four-star forward Jalan Wingfield
Auburn and head coach Bruce Pearl are making quite an impression on a four-star forward from Atlanta. We have reached the point in the year when college basketball recruiting begins to heat up. As usual, Auburn is in the mix to land one of the nation's top forwards. Jalan Wingfield, a four-star power forward from Tri-Cities High School in East Point, Georgia, released his top eight choices this week, which included the Auburn Tigers. Bruce Pearl and the Tigers will compete with Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt going forward. Wingfield took time to break down his top eight schools with Joe Tipton of Rivals. He tells Tipton that FSU has the "hometown" feel due to the proximity of Tallahassee to his hometown of Thomasville, Georgia, and that Georgia Tech is special because Yellow Jackets head coach Damon Stoudamire played with his dad, Dontonio Wingfield, in the NBA. When it comes to Auburn, Wingfield recalls Pearl's persistence of developing a relationship with him stands out. 'Bruce Pearl, he's at every one of my AAU games. Courtside. Every time he sees me, he acknowledges me, asks me how I'm doing. Tells me Auburn loves me. So, I would say they play a big part, too, also.' Wingfield is a 6-7 power forward that has "great length and a projectable frame," according to a scouting report by Jamie Shaw of Rivals. He is the No. 14 power forward for the 2026 class according to Rivals' Industry Rankings, and is the No. 7 player from Georgia.
