A You-Gotta-See-to-Believe Australian Supercars Finish, Cam Waters Wins by.03 Seconds
In the second race of Supercars opening round in Sydney, Cam Waters and Broc Feeney combined for one of the best finishes in modern Supercars, with Waters passing Feeney in the final corner and beating him to the line by just.03 seconds.
Waters won Friday night's race and topped Saturday's qualifying to put him in the catbird's seat for a second time. He lost positions early in the 200km race and had to fight back to battle among the podium finers. With four laps to go, Waters made a pass on Feeney and spun the Red Bull driver; instead of facing a possible penalty, Waters redressed and gave the position back under the cover of night.

In correcting, Feeney made it back by his teammate Will Brown as well, and Waters settled into the middle of the two Red Bulls, but not before Feeney fed him a right rear in retaliation for turning him in turn four.
"It's pretty hard in the dark because you can't really see how far away cars are compared to the daytime," Waters said in the post-race press conference. "I wasn't really sure how far behind Will was; I knew I had to redress Broc just to make sure I didn't get a penalty. I wasn't sure if I was going to get a penalty or not, but I didn't want that hanging over my head."
The three drivers stayed single final until the final turn and straightaway, where Waters pulled out to make the pass for the lead. The trio combined for Australia Supercars' closest finish in the series history.

Waters shared that he's proud to be part of what fans and commentators called one of the sport's best races.
People were telling me how cool a race that was and one of the best races I've seen, it's pretty cool to be part of that," Waters said. "How pumped the team was awesome to see. What a race, it was all going on, I was pushing the whole time."

Ford and Chevrolet split Supercars wins at Wanneroo
Ford and Chevrolet have split the wins in the two opening races of the Wanneroo Raceway Supercars round, near Perth in Western Australia. Ryan Wood took his maiden Supercars victory in his Walkinshaw Andretti United Ford Mustang before Broc Feeney struck back for Triple Eight to win the second race in his Chevrolet Camaro. Advertisement Much of Saturday looked like it belonged to Wood. He took the lead in the opening race from WAU team-mate (and polesitter) Chaz Mostert after 10 laps and resisted the pressure from both of Triple Eight's drivers, first Feeney, who undercut him in the pits, and then Will Brown, whose four-tyre pitstop gave him an advantage over Wood, who took just two at his mandatory pitstop. But the 21-year-old New Zealander kept his cool and sped home to his maiden Supercars win, from Brown and Mostert. The second race was looking like going the same way. Wood was beaten away from pole position by a fast-starting Cam Waters (Tickford Racing Ford) and Matt Payne (Grove Racing Ford) but Wood picked them off and built a gap, only to have the left-rear suspension break as he braked for Turn 6. Newly dyed blond Chaz Mostert wants to thank the internet trolls for powering him to pole position for the opening Supercars sprint in Perth. Sporting the bleached hair at Wanneroo Raceway, Mostert blitzed the pack by 0.083 seconds to snare the top spot for the first of two 120km races on Saturday. He leads a front row lockout by Walkinshaw Andretti United, joined by young teammate Ryan Wood. Wood snared a maiden pole for Saturday's second sprint, followed by Tickford ace Cam Waters and third-fastest Broc Feeney. Mostert claimed his first pole of the season and career No.26 with a lap time of 53.6858 seconds. Brodie Kostecki was third-fastest and will share the second row with championship leader Feeney. With only one win to his name this year, Mostert will be out to reignite his championship hunt. The 33-year-old is fifth in the standings.
