Krispy Kreme drops limited-edition Italian doughnuts and they're sending Aussies straight to Amalfi in one bite

7NEWS5 days ago
Venice? Rome? Amalfi? If your winter mood board involves an Aperol Spritz in hand and your feet dangling off the Amalfi Coast, Krispy Kreme has just dropped the next best thing.
The cult favourite doughnut brand has launched its new Passport to Italy Collection, and it's bringing La Dolce Vita straight to your nearest box of treats.
The new Passport to Italy collection will have you saying 'This Is What Dreams Are Made Of' faster than a Vespa ride around the Colosseum.
Available from today (30 July) until 18 August, this limited-edition range includes three dreamy Italian dessert-inspired doughnuts: Limone Delight, Tiramisu Inspired, and Cannoli Inspired.
Whether you're stuck at your desk scrolling through Italian travel reels or actually planning your next European escape, these sweets are the closest thing to licking gelato off your fingers in Venice.
Each flavour pays homage to a beloved classic, without the jet lag or passport stamps.
Tiramisu Inspired Doughnut: A pillowy shell doughnut filled with rich tiramisu Kreme, topped with a sweet Kreme swirl and a generous dusting of cocoa. It's basically dessert inside dessert.
Cannoli Inspired Doughnut: A soft, unglazed ring dipped halfway in chocolate and crunchy cannoli pieces, finished with a fluffy cannoli buttercream and dusting of icing sugar. It's giving pastry meets doughnut, in the best way possible.
Limone Delight Doughnut: Zingy and sweet, this lemon Kreme-filled shell is dipped in citrus icing and crowned with candied lemon pieces for the perfect tart-sweet combo.
Let's be honest, social media right now is one giant montage of Positano sunsets and Capri swimsuits, so it's only fair that Krispy Kreme let us have our own bite of the Italian summer.
The flavours were inspired by the seasonal trend of Aussie travellers flocking to Europe, and now our taste buds can join in too.
The good news is you can pick up these doughnuts individually at any Krispy Kreme store, or order them for delivery or pickup through the website.
The even better news is if you miss them in-store, you've got until 26 August to grab them at select Coles, Woolworths, BP and 7-Eleven stores around the country.
But don't sleep on them, these flavour bombs are limited-edition and once they're gone, they're gone.
Perfect for your next office treat run, girls' night in, or just eating solo in your pyjamas while pretending you're in Tuscany. No judgement here.
To level up your Euro summer vibes, share your bites using the hashtag #KrispyKreme and tag @krispykremeaustralia.
And yes, there's a very real chance your snaps will look better than your friend's Cinque Terre breakfast story.
Prego, Krispy Kreme. We didn't know we needed a dessert-based Roman holiday, but we're absolutely here for it.

Morecote is a Swiss village with a sublime lakeside setting

Morcote was once feted as 'the most beautiful village of Switzerland'. It won the award in a competition run by a popular Swiss magazine, Schweizer Illustrierte, in partnership with the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation. Almost a decade has passed since that accolade, but Morcote remains as picturesque and telegenic as you'd hope. It hugs Lake Lugano in the canton of Ticino, where southern Switzerland faces northern Italy. The nicest way to arrive in Morcote is by boat from Lugano city. It takes just half-an-hour, but there are only a few services per day, and I've missed the latest one, so I travel here instead with a combination of train and bus. If that sounds a hassle, believe me, in Switzerland, where the public transport network runs like clockwork 99.5 per cent of the time, it really isn't. About 40 minutes after departing Lugano, I'm walking by the shores of the lake in Morcote, where little wooden boats are bobbing in the water and couples are enjoying coffee, drinks and long, leisurely lunches outside the bars and eateries of the curving main street-cum-promenade. By these pastel-shaded arcaded buildings, stairways and lanes wind up into Morcote's well-preserved medieval core, where the bulk of the village's 3500 population reside. Further up on the hillside is the Church of Santa Maria del Sasso, a beautiful piece of gothic architecture from the 14th century. A lookout with benches above the church has terrific views over the bell tower and the lake, while a few Italian villages catch the eye across the water. In the Middle Ages, Morcote was a busy harbour and a loading point for goods destined for Milanese dukes. You can continue hiking upwards from the village, with this path connected to others on Ticino's network of trails (look out for the yellow signposts). But after you've caught your breath, I'd advise you to walk back past the church and down to Morcote's main street, just above which you'll find Parco Scherrer, one of Switzerland's most eclectic gardens. It was established by wealthy merchant Hermann Arthur Scherrer (1881-1956), who earned his fortune in the textile industry in St Gallen in northern Switzerland and splashed out indulging his twin passions for arts and travel. Parco Scherrer is set over terraced levels with whimsical artworks and follies surrounded by pools and fountains and an exotic flurry of trees and plants, including palms, pines, camellias, wisteria, oleander, cypresses, camphor, bamboo and eucalyptus. Labelled a 'Garden of Wonders', the park welcomed its first visitors in 1965 and is still free to enter. Some parts feel more Mediterranean, others from further afield. One moment you're standing by classical-style columns, the kind you'd find at a Greek or Roman temple, the next you're by a Middle Eastern-inspired house or perusing sculptures of Thai elephants or scantily-clad African women amid the foliage. The views of the lake enhance this garden's charm and I'm fortunate to have the place more or less to myself late on this spring afternoon. In summer, I could imagine it would feel a lot more crowded — and not quite as blissful. + Steve McKenna was a guest of Ticino Tourism and Switzerland Tourism. Shark attack: Pregnant TV host and wife of former NBA star Danilo Gallinari bitten by shark in Puerto Rico

A pregnant television presenter has revealed the horror moment when she was attacked by a shark close to shore at a resort in Puerto Rico. Eleonora Boi, shared a photo of herself in a hospital bed on Instagram, describing the experience as the 'worst day of my life.' 'I never thought I could get attacked by a shark and I was near the shore and on a super crowded beach,' she wrote in the caption of the photo according to a translation. She explained that she had to have surgery for the injury she sustained on her leg. 'I was rushed to the rescue and the surgery to fix my poor bruised leg went well,' she said. Boi is the wife of former NBA star Danilo Gallinari, and expressed her gratitude for his support during the incident. 'I thank my husband . . . he gave me all his love and courage,' she added. 'Now I just have to recover from the great scare and try to forgive the great friend who betrayed me. Shark will be hearing from my legals soon.' Local police confirmed that a woman suffered an open wound to her thigh at Carolina Resort, Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia reported. 'Based on the photographs provided to us, we believe the characteristics of the bite could be consistent with those of a shark, but to validate this, a series of analyses would be necessary,' Nilda Jiménez said. Boi and Gallinari, who are both from Italy originally, married in July 2022 and share two children. Boi is a sports journalist and presenter and is pregnant with their third child. Danilo Gallinari is an accomplished Italian basketball forward who began his professional career in Italy before being selected 6th overall in the 2008 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks.

Beauty Diary: Sex worker's shock act with popular $20 Coles item

The creator of a $20 product sold in Coles has responded to a sex worker's recent viral video, warning the item is 'not originally intended' for the way it was used in the clip. Blue Eyed Kayla Jade, a 'full service' worker who lives on the Gold Coast, has amassed millions of followers thanks to her candid client confessions. Along with juicy details about her X-rated exploits, she also shares her skincare and make-up tips, and regularly causes items to sell out. But her most recent video, a paid promotion with personal care brand GEM, has raised eyebrows after she used a razor to shave her face. Fans were stunned by the adult content creator's unusual technique, in fact, even the brand's creator Georgia Geminder was so shocked by how Kayla used the grooming essential. 'The razors weren't originally intended for that, more so for legs, bikini, underarms, etc,' she told The Beauty Diary. 'But if it works for Kayla, it works for us.' Women shaving their faces isn't new, but rarely is the task completed with a standard razor. Instead, those who like to remove their fine facial hairs, also known as peach fuzz, will use a dermaplaning tool to get the job done. Let's be clear, it's still a razor, but instead of a multi-barred long blade, a dermaplaning tool contains a tiny scalpel blade to exfoliate the skin which in the process also removes peach fuzz. And it's popularity lies in the fact it results in smoother skin that helps skincare products absorb better as well as giving a flawless finish when used with beauty products such as foundation and bronzer. In Kayla's video, she explained she was shaving her face to make her make-up 'sit so much better' after experiencing unexpected facial hair growth recently. After lathering her face in shaving foam, Kayla then proceeds to use Gem's 'Skin-Loving Shaving Kit' on her cheeks, before taking the razor down onto her chin and ending on her forehead. 'This shaver has made my legs insanely smooth, so I know that it will work so well on my face,' she states, as it glides over her skin. Concerned fans however were quick to flood the video, which has clocked up over 600,000 views in the past 24 hours, to warn the star against face shaving. 'Duudddeee you need a dermaplaning blade for that, easier to control and not shave your eyebrows off,' one said. 'You need to get an actual derma blade, don't use those normal razors,' agreed another. As one claimed: 'Your hair will grow back thicker with a normal blaze.' So can you get the same effect using a regular razor as a dermaplaning tool? According to Ms Geminder, if men can shave their face, so can women. 'Gone are the days where we have to use our boyfriends/brothers/husbands/etc razors to achieve a precise shave,' she said. 'Gem razors provide a premium, men's-grade shaving experience (minus the ugly packaging), and we love Kayla putting them to the test. 'Plus, if men can do it – we should too. Just make sure to proceed with caution, we don't want any missing eyebrows.' Gem's 'category-disrupting razors' launched into Coles last month after taking Ms Geminder two years to perfect, and the beauty entrepreneur said shoppers are snapping the item up like crazy. 'To be honest our razors have been a crowd favourite since they launched in Coles last month with 1 product selling every minute,' she said. 'Kayla's post has gone wild, and while it's too soon to know if it has had a direct impact on sales, I can see from web traffic that lots of people are trying to shop the Skin-Loving Shaving Kit. 'From experience, Kayla definitely always sells us out, which is why we love to collaborate with her.'
