FORMER Rangers star Nacho Novo is desperate for a job in football management.
But he has been left scratching his head as to why he hasn't had more opportunities.

The ex-Gers striker returned to Scottish football with Drumchapel United as part of the coaching staff last year.
Drumchapel currently ply their trade in the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division - the sixth tier of the SPFL pyramid.
While Novo admits he loves working with the part-timers but has found himself questioning why, after such a glittering playing career, that he's been passed over for other coaching jobs.
It was reported last year that Novo applied for the Raith Rovers job when Ian Murray was bizarrely sacked just one game into the season.
But the Kirkcaldy club appointed Neil Collins as his successor.
Novo, 46, retired in 2017 after having played in the top flights of Spain, Scotland and Poland and winning seven trophies (six with Gers and one with Legia Warsaw).
He went through his coaching badges before landing his first job as a coach at Lexington SC in USL League One (the third tier of football in the United States).
He initially served as assistant manager and as the head coach of the Under-23s before being promoted to the interim role in September 2023.
But he left and within a year had returned to Scotland.
After a full season with Drumchapel, Novo has admitted he is still chasing a dream of opening a football academy if he doesn't get a full-time job in management.

Speaking on the Let Me Be Frank podcast, Novo said: "I've been at Drumchapel for a whole season now and I love it.
"Especially because it's proper football, that's how I'd say it! Proper tackles!
"We had a good group of boys, some have been pros. They did well this season."
Drumchapel finished sixth in the Premier Division this season.
And despite his reputation as a former Rangers fan favourite, Novo insists he never had any added grief on the sidelines over the past year.
But he does wonder if his association to the Light Blues has held him back when it comes to applying for other jobs higher up the food chain.
He said: "I don't know why I can't get a job in football as a coach or anything like that.
"Is it because of Rangers? I don't know.
"It's probably because of how I was on the park but how I was on the park is not how I am as a person outside."
Expanding on that point, Novo talked about how former Celtic foes like John Hartson remain good family friends to this day.
And how one-time arch rival Neil Lennon is one of the nicest people he's met in football.
Novo said: "People think about Neil Lennon for example, they think he's terrible, that he acts like he did on the pitch. He's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
"John Hartson, he's a good friend of my family.
"We played on the same park and hated each other but we respected each other.
"On the pitch we were enemies and that was my mentality but outside of that I'm very quiet and a family man."
Novo has been approached for a scouting job that would see him scour Scotland and the north of England for talent.
But his main ambition is to open a cross-border football academy that would link his homeland and his adopted home.
He said: "I tried to open a football academy here and in Spain.
"I wanted to bring clubs from Scotland over to Spain for a tournament and bring Spanish teams here for the same thing.
"But that takes a lot of insurance to do it right, a lot of admin and red tape.
"That's my idea at the moment."

June 7 - Michael Soroka threw six scoreless innings and Alex Call homered to propel the Washington Nationals to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Texas Rangers on Friday. Soroka (3-3) allowed just two hits while striking out seven and walking one for the Nationals, who had dropped three of four games prior to the series opener. The Washington bullpen kept Texas hitless for the final three innings. Closer Kyle Finnegan retired the first two Rangers he faced in the ninth before Marcus Semien reached on CJ Abrams' fielding error. Finnegan got Jake Burger to pop out to end the game, securing his 18th save of the season. Adolis Garcia and Josh Smith each tallied a hit for the Rangers, who dropped their fourth straight game. Washington struck first in the bottom of the second as Nathaniel Lowe and Call began the inning with singles before Robert Hassell III drove in the game's first run with a groundout. Garcia's two-out single in the top of the fifth marked the Rangers' first hit and only their second baserunner after Kyle Higashioka was hit by a pitch in the third. Corbin cruised through the bottom of the fifth with a five-pitch inning. Smith laced a one-out single in the sixth while Corey Seager worked a two-out walk, but Soroka escaped the jam by inducing Semien's flyout. Brad Lord relieved Soroka in the seventh, retiring Burger and Evan Carter on two pitches before getting Garcia to pop out to end the inning. Jose Ferrer added a perfect eighth. Scotland goalkeeper Cieran Slicker has debut to forget in home defeat to Iceland
Luckless home goalkeeper Angus Gunn sustained an injury in the third minute and eventually had to be replaced by the 22-year-old Ipswich stopper, minutes after which he conceded possession before Andri Gudjohnsen beat him with a terrific drive. John Souttar levelled in the 25th minute from a corner but Slicker and his defenders struggled collectively when the visitors regained the lead from a corner, just before the break, with Scotland midfielder Lewis Ferguson putting through his own goal. Slicker was again found wanting in the 52nd minute when he was beaten by a Victor Palsson header, which added the gloss for the visitors. Iceland had lost all six of their previous meetings with Scotland but they deserved their first win. Sturm Graz right-back Max Johnston and Ipswich forward George Hirst made their first starts in an otherwise experienced team with defender Kieran Tierney winning his 50th cap playing in a back five. After a minute's applause to remember former Scottish FA president Jack McGinn, midfielder John McGinn's grandfather, who died last month aged 92, play started then soon stopped when Gunn – starting as Craig Gordon was injured – stayed on the ground after landing awkwardly. After some treatment, the 29-year-old was replaced by Slicker, who endured a nightmare start. His clearance was immediately returned to Gudjohnsen – son of former Chelsea and Barcelona striker Eidur – and from 20 yards, he drove the ball high past Slicker. Two more poor kicks from the keeper did nothing for confidence. In the 21st minute, good pressing from McGinn won him possession inside the Iceland penalty area but from his pinpoint cross, Hirst headed over from six yards. Then after Slicker had gathered a drive from Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson at the second attempt, the Hirst then tested Iceland goalkeeper Elias Olafsson with a drive which was tipped over the crossbar but from Johnston's corner, Souttar stooped to head in from six yards. Scotland began to find some flow but when Albert Gundmundsson delivered a corner in the 44th minute, Slicker and his defenders failed to deal with it and the ball ricocheted off a couple of players before it came off Ferguson and over the line. Boos rang around the stadium at half-time and there was more consternation after 52 minutes when Palsson's header from a Gudmundsson free-kick went through the hands of Slicker, with VAR confirming the goal after a suspicion of offside. The Ipswich keeper was then sarcastically cheered by some of the Tartan Army after a comfortable collect. At the other end, Hirst's effort from close range – it looked like the ball came off his shoulder following a Johnston cross – was brilliantly saved by Olafsson. The Iceland keeper was beaten in the 63rd minute by Hirst after parrying a Scott McTominay shot, but the Napoli midfielder was ruled offside. Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller came on to make his Scotland debut in the 68 minute, along with striker Che Adams and defender Scott McKenna, by which time the home side had gained the initiative. Olafsson tipped McGinn's clever chip over the crossbar in the 88th minute but there was no late Scotland siege.

Ex-Arsenal and Man Utd stars to go head-to-head for League One manager job
Plymouth Argyle are considering two former Premier League stars for their managerial vacancies after Wayne Rooney's replacement, Miron Muslic departed the club for Schalke. Jack Wilshere and Tom Cleverley are among the candidates to be interviewed for the vacant Plymouth Argyle job. Both the former Arsenal midfielder and ex-Manchester United ace are out of work having managed in the Championship last season Plymouth are in need of a new boss having seen Miron Muslic depart for Schalke after less than a year in the job. Muslic oversaw the side's relegation after replacing Wayne Rooney at Home Park. Rooney was sacked by the club in December after lasting 221 days of his three-year contract. The ex-Derby and Birmingham City boss managed just four wins and was relieved of his duties after a nine-game winless run put the team four points from safety. Muslic was expected to continue at Plymouth having given chairman Simon Hallett assurances he would lead the side's campaign to earn promotion from the Championship. The club had already moved to put personnel and structures in place that Muslic insisted upon. But Argyle have been forced into the managerial market and could go for a high-profile name once again with Wilshere and Cleverley in the frame. The former took charge of Norwich's final two games of the season as interim-boss after the Canaries parted ways with Johannes Hoff Thorup. Wilshere arrived at Carrow Road in October 2024 as a member of coaching staff. The ex-England international was previously in charge of Arsenal under-18s and parted ways with Norwich via mutual agreement after the team decided they wouldn't consider him for the permanent job. Cleverley meanwhile saw his playing career end with Watford where he moved into coaching. The 35-year-old was working with the Hornets academy before being named as interim head coach when Valerien Ismael was dismissed. Cleverly impressed enough to be handed the role on a permanent basis but lasted little over 12 months before being sacked last month. The United academy product remained proud of his efforts. "After the sadness wears off, I will forever have a feeling of gratitude and happiness towards the club and the place and people of Watford," he said. "To have built a connection with the players and supporters over the last 14 months has been special and the achievement I'm most proud about. "To see the development of our key players, young players and academy players, has been an incredibly rewarding part of my job and their progress in the game will always be something I look out for. We have used 11 players aged 21 and under this year and both they and the club will benefit hugely for this experience. "To maintain league position and points after selling key players last summer is something we should be proud of, as well as reflecting on why we couldn't sustain our play-off challenge will be something we should all review." Wilshere and Cleverley will also see competition from Des Buckingham. The 40-year-old was surprisingly sacked by Oxford United in December.
