UP minister Gulab Devi injured in convoy collision near Hapur toll plaza
According to police, the minister's convoy was en route to Bijnor when a private hatchback ahead of the convoy abruptly braked near the elevated flyover after the toll plaza.
Minister's driver Satbir Singh recounted the moment, saying, 'After crossing the toll, I hadn't even fully engaged the gear when the vehicle in front suddenly braked. The escort jeep stopped sharply and we crashed into it despite trying to avoid it.'
Gulab Devi, seated in the rear seat, hit the interior of the SUV and sustained a head injury. A police officer confirmed the airbags did not deploy, despite the heavy impact that left the front of the vehicle severely damaged. The driver of the escort vehicle also suffered a hand injury.
Both the minister and the injured driver were admitted to a private hospital. Chief medical officer Dr Sunil Tyagi, who is overseeing treatment, said the minister is out of danger. An MRI scan is being conducted to check for internal head injuries.
Hapur district magistrate Abhishek Pandey, superintendent of police Gyananjay Singh, and other officials visited the hospital to review the situation.
The pile-up involved four vehicles from the minister's convoy. Pilkhua police station in-charge Patneesh Kumar said traffic came to a halt following the accident, but was restored after cranes were used to remove the damaged vehicles.
Police have launched an investigation to determine whether a technical malfunction or negligence contributed to the collision.

SUV rams truck on Mathura Road, man dies
New Delhi: A 36-year-old man was killed in the early hours of Wednesday when the SUV he was travelling in rammed into a stationary truck on Mathura Road in southeast Delhi's Sarita Vihar. The incident was reported at 2.20am following which a police team rushed to the spot. "Officers found a 14-tyre truck, bearing a Nagaland registration number, parked on the carriageway in a non-functional condition. Singh, a resident of Madhu Vihar in I.P. Extension, was employed as a driver for a family in Panchsheel Park, Hauz Khas. "The victim was just out for a drive when the accident happened," a police source said. Preliminary interrogation suggested that the SUV was at a high speed when it rammed into the truck. Police suspect that the truck was parked on the side of the road at the time of the accident. Visuals from the crash site showed an alcohol bottle and a can inside the car. Cops are awaiting the post-mortem and forensic reports to ascertain if the SUV driver was under the influence of alcohol. The truck and SUV have been seized for inspection. Cops are also probing whether warning lights or reflectors had been placed behind the stationary truck to alert approaching vehicles. Man killed in road accident in Delhi's Sarita Vihar

According to officials, the incident took place around 1.45 am when a Jeep Meridian (SUV) collided with a stationary truck parked on the main road. The impact of the collision was severe, causing critical injuries to one of the occupants of the jeep. Police said they received a call regarding the accident at around 2.20 am, following which the investigating officer along with staff rushed to the spot. 4 booked for brutal attack on Zimbabwean student in Bathinda
Bathinda: The police have registered a case against four persons, including a security guard of Guru Kashi University, in connection with a violent assault on Zimbabwean student Ziweya Leeroy. The FIR, filed based on a complaint by ASI Des Raj of Talwandi Sabo Police Station, includes charges under sections 109 (attempt to murder), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 190 (unlawful assembly), and 191(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rioting committed with a deadly weapon. The accused are identified as security guard Dilpreet Singh, Lovepreet Singh, Mangu Singh, and Manpreet Singh. According to ASI Des Raj's complaint, initial investigations revealed that Leeroy had an altercation with Dilpreet Singh on Aug 12. The following day, when Leeroy stepped out of the university campus in the late afternoon, he was ambushed by the four accused. They allegedly attacked him with baseball bats, sticks, and sharp-edged weapons before fleeing the scene. Bathinda senior superintendent of police (SSP) Amneet Kondal confirmed that one of the accused, Mangu Singh, has been arrested. "We are in the process of registering an FIR under attempt to murder charges," Kondal stated. She added that the police were alerted to the attack around 4 pm and that the suspects crashed and abandoned their vehicle while fleeing, which has since been seized as evidence. Leeroy was initially taken to Talwandi Sabo Civil Hospital but was later transferred to AIIMS Bathinda due to the severity of his injuries. Doctors are planning an MRI scan to assess the extent of the trauma.
