Three 'Along Jep Gang' members charged with concealing stolen vehicle frames
KLANG: Three men belonging to the Along Jep Gang have been charged at the magistrate's court for concealing and possessing stolen vehicle frames.
The trio, Tomi Andhika Kosnanto, 25, Muhammad Razahin Zailan, 25, and Mohd Hafifi Mohamad, 40, pleaded guilty to the charges under Section 29(1) of the Minor Offenses Act 1955, which was read separately to them before assistant registrar Wan Muhammad Kushairi Wan Roslei on Wednesday (May 7).
They face a penalty of up to one year imprisonment or a fine of up to RM1,000, or both, if convicted, for the offence related to stolen vehicle frames.
Tomi Andhika, Muhammad Razahin, and Mohd Hafifi, all unemployed, were also charged with hiding a Proton Saga, a Perodua Kancil, and a Honda C100 motorcycle, all stolen, in several locations in Klang between Dec 28 last year and April 19 this year.
Tomi Andhika pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 414 of the Penal Code for concealing a stolen Honda C100 motorbike on Dec 28 last year, facing a possible jail term of seven years and a fine.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to a charge of robbing a Proton Iriz car from a 54-year-old victim in Teluk Gadong Besar around 8.30am on March 19.
He was charged under Section 392 of the Penal Code, which provides for up to 14 years in prison, and a fine or whipping if found guilty.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Razahin pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 414 of the Penal Code for concealing a stolen Proton Saga at Kampung Rantau Panjang on April 19 this year.
The third member, Mohd Hafifi, also pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 414 of the Penal Code for concealing a stolen Perodua Kancil near Bukit Tinggi on April 11.
DPPs Nur Nadia Syuhada Rosli and Sulfie Abu Hassan prosecuted, while counsel James Chan from the National Legal Aid Foundation represented the three men.
Bail was set between RM2,500 to RM6,000 each, with the court fixing 11, 23, and 30 June for proceedings and sentencing.
The trio's modus operandi was apparently targeting victims who left their car engines running by the roadside.

Police detain Singaporean over road rage incident in Skudai
JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a 40-year-old Singaporean man after he was involved in a road rage incident and alleged vandalism against another car around Tun Aminah, Skudai yesterday. Bodies of missing couple Tanjung Harapan boat accident recovered
A TRAGIC boat accident off Tanjung Harapan, Port Klang, has claimed five lives, including a married couple whose bodies were found drowned near North Port early this morning. The incident, which occurred during a test drive of the boat, involved six people. Three died at the scene, one survived, and two were initially missing. None of the victims were wearing life jackets, complicating the search and rescue efforts. The missing couple, Gan Hon Tat and Careen Man, both from Klang Utama, were among the deceased. Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) enforcement and excise unit operations officer Lieutenant Mohd Syafiq Sazali said both victims were Malaysian nationals. 'The bodies were found floating at 7.42am about 0.1 nautical miles from North Port, Port Klang,' he said. 'We recovered the bodies using assets from the Fire and Rescue Department and brought them to the Selangor Maritime jetty,' he added. Civil servant arrested for allegedly scratching neighbours' cars
AMPANG: A civil servant at a public university was arrested for allegedly scratching two neighbours' cars using a key in the parking area of their apartment in Taman Pandan Mewah here. Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the man, 41, is believed to have committed the offences on May 19 and 22, targeting two different cars parked at a particular spot. "The victims, both Malaysian women, had parked their vehicles in the same spot during the separate incidents," he said in a statement today. "On May 19, the victim found scratches on the front and rear right doors of her Honda, but could not identify the culprit. "In the second incident on May 22 about 1am, another victim's cousin parked a Toyota in the same spot and discovered scratches on the rear door about 6.40am." The victims later lodged complaints with the apartment's management, leading to a review of closed-circuit television footage that captured the man walking near the cars. "Following this, police detained the suspect at 5.35pm on Wednesday in the apartment parking area. A bunch of keys believed to have been used to scratch the cars were also seized." The suspect, a university clerk living in the same apartment, is not personally known to the victims. Azam said the motive remains under investigation. The man has no prior criminal record. The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing mischief.
