Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea responded after the announcement that Victor Lindelof will be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season
Victor Lindelof bid an emotional farewell to Manchester United as his departure from Old Trafford was officially announced this weekend.
The Swedish defender joined from Benfica in 2017 in a £30m deal during Jose Mourinho's tenure, aiming to strengthen the team's back line. Throughout various managerial changes, Lindelof has been a mainstay for the Red Devils, clocking up 284 appearances.

This season saw his role within the first team reduced, with only 16 Premier League outings. Nevertheless, Lindelof enjoyed a full game on Sunday, helping United to seal a season-ending victory against Aston Villa.

Following the match, United's social media channels paid tribute to Lindelof, who also took to his own account to express his gratitude.
"There's nothing on earth like being a Red," he shared. "Manchester, thank you from the bottom of my heart."
The post quickly drew responses, including a love heart emoji from his ex-teammate David de Gea.
Christian Eriksen, who is set to leave at the season's close, alongside Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez, sent their well wishes to Lindelof as well. Amid the heartfelt day, Maja Lindelof documented the couple's last matchday on Instagram, expressing her appreciation for the club.
"We grew up here," she reflected. "Thank you for all the love. The best years of my life."
Following the reveal of a farewell gift that United presented for her children, she expressed heartfelt gratitude, remarking: "The people behind the scenes at this club, not sure what we would do without them all these years."

Lindelof, Christian Eriksen and Jonny Evans are all leaving on free transfers this summer at the end of their contracts.
But Matheus Cunha is on his way, after United agreed to trigger the £62.5million release clause in his Wolves contract.
United have agreed to pay Wolves in three instalments, of £20.8m, as stipulated in his deal at Molineux, having initially asked to spread the cost across five payments and additional years.

Man Utd make final decision on Bryan Mbeumo transfer after staggering demands

Manchester United have seen their opening bid for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo rejected but they have agreed to pay his huge wages should they agree on a transfer fee Manchester United are prepared to meet Bryan Mbeumo 's mega wage demands if they are able to agree on a fee with Brentford - who rejected the opening offer from the Red Devils. The Bees are holding out for £60million and have turned down the opening package which added up to £55m - £45m of which was up front with the extras in bonuses. One issue that has been finalised is United's willingness to pay Mbeumo's £250,000-a-week wages, reports talkSPORT. ‌ Those at Old Trafford are prepared to stump up a huge salary to get the Cameroon international to the club - which would see the player earn five times his current wage. United have previously made huge blunders when agreeing to pay players mammoth salaries - but that doesn't seem to have put them off. ‌ Interest in Mbeumo comes after he delivered his most prolific season to date. He played in every Premier League match - which saw him come up with 20 goals and seven assists - and Brentford believe this summer is the right time to cash in. The frontman is about to enter the final 12 months of his deal and the Bees can bank a huge profit on a player they signed back when they were in the Championship. The west London side look ready to dig their heels in though as they demand their £60m asking price. It leaves United with a decision to make should they want Mbeumo. They've already spent £62.5m on Matheus Cunha but have made bolstering their frontline a priority. They've just missed out on Liam Delap, who chose Chelsea over Manchester, but have continued to pursue other targets. Mbeumo's skillset is likely to suit the 3-4-3 system implemented by Ruben Amorim, who needs new recruits if he is to be a success at Old Trafford. Newcastle have a well known interest in the Brentford frontman but those in Manchester have acted to try and get a deal over the line with Brentford consistently showing they will sell their top stars for the right fee. Doing so with Ivan Toney last summer. Manager Thomas Frank conceded that Mbeumo had admirers and his departure was possible if the right fee was tabled. "I can definitely understand the interest in him," he said. 'There should be interest in him. He is at his best age, he has scored 20 goals. I would like to keep him, but we are a selling club so if someone comes in with the right price.'

Man United's hunt for Mbeumo heats up

Manchester United 's initial £45m bid for Brentford 's Bryan Mbeumo, with a further £10m in add-ons, has been rejected. Brentford values Mbeumo at over £60m and may extend his contract by an additional year to retain him. Thomas Frank has acknowledged that Mbeumo's sale is possible but would be "expensive". Mbeumo is attractive to United due to his Premier League experience, versatility across the forward line, and strong fitness record. Manchester United aims to bolster their attacking options following the expected departures of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony and are also targeting a goalkeeper, wing-back, and midfielder.
