U.S. enduro racer Marco "Randy" Osborne and Ella Conolly of Scotland took first-places overall for the Pro Men's and Pro Women's categories at the 2025 Andes Pacifico enduro race, held Jan. 14–19 in Chile's Nuble region. Osborne's four-day average time of 87:49.80 and Conolly's 100:25.28 secured their wins."Another amazing Chilean experience in the books,' Truckee, California-based Osborne posted on his sponsor Transition Bike's page. 'I was stoked to grab the win and enjoy 4 days of wild and physical racing with an awesome crew. We got to experience some incredibly raw trails, local accommodations, and some unique culture along the way. I fought hard, and pushed myself day in and day out to make it happen. Stoked on my efforts and how my Sentinel handled the wild Chilean dust!"
"Andes Pacifico!! 4 days of wild blind racing from the dusty trails in the Andes all of the way to the Pacific," Conolly, who rides for Cannondale, posted to her Instagram page. "That ocean dip hit hard at the end🥵what a crazy adventure! Still trying to get rid of the dust monobrow🇨🇱❤️Hit some of the gnarliest trails way faster that I would've done if I knew what was there which felt like a nice little skill level up. Also had a good slam on day 2 to keep things even haha."
Considered to be one of the world's most challenging mountain bike races, the Andes Pacifico is an enduro race that began in 2014 and took place this year in the Nevados de Chillán region of the Andes Mountains, dropping 26,200 feet over four days before finishing at the Pacific Ocean. Each day is made up of between two to eight special stages, depending on the race category. It is a blind race, meaning that riders don't get the chance to pre-ride the course, and are seeing it for the first time when they race.
The first day saw a 42-mile-long course with 13,100-feet of climbing and 16,400-feet of downhill through the Las Trancas Valley. Osborne quickly recovered from a crash and took the day with a 21:39.44 time, barely besting Czech racer Vojtech Blaha at 21:42.03 (Blaha would take third overall). Conolly finished the first day at 24:54.43.
Osborne kept his lead during Day Two's 25-mile race to Recinto with a time of 28:27.52, with Glenn MacArthur on his tread at 28:43.25. Conolly finished first at 33:04.02.
Osborne took Day Three on Ninhue's forested flow trails with 23:34.66, and Conolly at 26:34.78. Day Four ended in Cobquecura at the Pacific with Osborne at 14:08.18, securing his four-day streak and taking the overall Pro Men's category. A small washout cost Conolly first place for Day Four, coming in second at 15:52.05 behind ever-close Andreane Lanthier Nadeau at 28:05.20, but she still took the overall win with her four-day average of 100:25.28, four seconds ahead of Nadeau's second-place overall time.

Gasperini takes over from Ranieri at Roma after successful run at Atalanta

Associated Press ROME (AP) — Gian Piero Gasperini was named Roma's new coach on Friday, taking over for the retiring Claudio Ranieri following his own successful run at Atalanta. 'I need a significant challenge,' Gasperini said in an interview released by Roma. He signed a three-year deal for the club owned by Texas-based businessman Dan Friedkin. In nine seasons at Atalanta, Gasperini guided the Bergamo club to a Europa League triumph in 2024, six top-four finishes in Serie A, and a Champions League quarterfinal. The 73-year-old Ranieri was hired in November when Roma was struggling in 12th place, and his contract specified he would take on an advisor role after the season. Rainieri guided Roma to a fifth-place finish as the Giallorossi lost just once during the second half of the season, and was involved in selecting the 67-year-old Gasperini, who is known for his free-flowing attacking tactics. Gasperini becomes Roma's fourth coach in the 1 ½ years since Jose Mourinho was fired, following Daniele De Rossi, Ivan Juric and Ranieri. ___ AP soccer: in this topic
