The 2025-26 baize campaign began on Sunday with Wuhan Open qualifying and Brecel, 30, was due to play Pakistani Haris Tahir.
It was scheduled to take place at 2.30pm at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.
Yet Brecel, who has fallen to 39th on the WST list, appears not to have been in the country.
So, a 5-0 walkover was awarded to his opponent, who secured a spot in the main draw in the Far East.

On Saturday, he posted images of himself with his reported new girlfriend Shawney Demuyter and hours before his match he uploaded a photo of pizzas and two wine glasses.
If anything, it suggested he was not necessarily in the mood for break-building.
It is another sorry situation for a potting maverick who lives by his own rules.
His absence means he will not take part in the Wuhan Open, which takes place in the last week of August and has a top prize of about £140,000.

The popular presenter decided to make her breakfast speciality - smashed avocado on sourdough with salmon and poached eggs. The 48-year-old was joined by chef Lizzy Lyons, who attempted to help Elaine with her recipe but was quickly shooed away. After popping her bread in the toaster and dropping her eggs in the boiling water, Elaine got busy mashing up her avocado and seasoning it. According to Daily Mail, the 'violent' stalker's actions have included threatening to spread lies about Chris and his wife, Opera singer Camilla Kerslake to social services. A source told the publication: "One of the most terrifying things has been the suggestion that her lies could get their kids could be taken away - it's left them shaken to the core." The source also said: "This isn't just someone making empty threats. "According to other victims, this individual has allegedly set fires, made bomb threats, and has even threatened to blow up children at their schools. While a source previously told The Sun: 'It's been absolutely terrible for Chris and Camilla. 'Chris and Camilla have been told by the police they're not alone. This woman has form for what she's been doing to them and has done it to other people too. 'Chris and Camilla are just the latest victims in a string of lives she's tried to destroy. 'He only went ahead with Strictly for his son Wilding. 'He told his dad: 'I want mummy to laugh at your dancing'. So Chris bit the bullet and went for it. 'He was honest with the BBC from the start and they've been amazing. 'They are supporting him and are aware of everything that is going on.'
