The Sun told in February while Rashford was on loan at Aston Villa how his No 1 target if he was to leave Old Trafford was the Catalan giants.

Barca will cover 100 per cent of Rashford's £325,000-a-week wages to bring the forward to LaLiga and also have an option to buy.
The deal does not allow United to recall the striker.
United will save £15million in wages, which would be vital funds for Amorim to overhaul his squad.
Rashford hopes to travel with Barcelona when the Spanish club departs this week for its pre-season tour of Asia, which begins next Sunday.
The England international spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa after a move to Spain became too complicated in the January window.
He has remained steadfast that he wanted to move to a club playing Champions League football.
Should the move go to plan and Rashford seal a permanent move next summer, it would end his 20-year association with United.
The United academy product scored 138 goals since his debut in 2015 and has made 426 appearances for the club, the last of which came against Viktoria Plzen in December.

REM share incredible photo on anniversary of mammoth Slane gig - with familiar openers...
REM has shared an incredible aerial photo of their huge concert at Slane Castle, as the gig reaches its 30th anniversary. While Slane is known for having its concerts that draw in crowds of 80,000, everyone has that favourite one — and while Harry Styles, Eminem and Metallica have all headlined the Meath castle, one of the most iconic ones to ever take place were when REM came to town. The rock band headlined Slane in 1995 while on their first world tour in six years, but almost didn't make it to the iconic castle as lead singer Michael Stipe suffered a hernia and required emergency surgery, while drummer Bill Berry collapsed on stage in Switzerland after suffering a brain aneurysm. View this post on Instagram A post shared by R.E.M. (@rem) Despite the band needing to cancel gigs in France and Spain, the band were able to pull through and make it to Slane Castle, where they were joined by incredible openers including Sharon Shannon, Belly, and, fresh off their debut album, Oasis. Yes, there was a time when Oasis were the openers. The band's lawyer Bertis Downs shared an incredible aerial photo of just how big the Slane gig was, with him reminiscing on how the gig was actually touch and go ahead of the gig, and how Ireland became one of their favourite places to tour. 'Gazing at this photograph taken from above the grounds of Slane Castle and the epic R.E.M. concert, I have a few memories flashing across my mind,' he wrote. 'It was the first show after the brief stoppage of the tour in central Europe when Mike Mills came down with abdominal issues necessitating emergency surgery and cancelling a few shows through France and Spain. REM performed at Slane in 1995, in a gig that was one of the most memorable in the country. Pic: Independent News'He recovered as quickly as any doctor had projected and was ready in time for the run of dates in the British Isles, starting with Slane Castle on July 22 on the banks of the Slane River [the River Boyne], an hour outside of Dublin city. 'Mike was not at 100%, but it was safe medically for him to play–the band, including Mike, delivered an amazing performance in front of a crowd that had been watching R.E.M. in their country for 10 years but never in a venue as majestic as Slane Castle,' he continued. 'It's the kind of show that doesn't happen very often with logistical challenges galore but an incredible physical experience as the sun goes down over the magnificent landscape. 'It was one of many engagements that made R.E.M. consider Ireland a true home away from home time and again, year after year, and a quarter of a century ago today.' Opening for the band were a fresh faced Oasis who just released their debut album, Definitely Maybe. Pic: Independent NewsThe band first played in Ireland on their second tour in 1984, just playing a club show before heading to the RDS in 1989. They have also played huge gigs in Landsdowne Road in 1999, Marlay Park in 2003 and The Point in 2005. As for their openers, Oasis went on to be one of the biggest bands, well, ever; and after a tumultuous split in 2009 announced their reunion, and are currently on tour, with them playing five nights in their native Manchester last week. They're set to headline Wembley this weekend, and then Murrayfield in Edinburgh — before heading to Croke Park on August 16 and 17.

Liverpool in discussions for Rodrygo transfer as Real Madrid schedule meeting to decide future
The Premier League champions have already splashed the cash to bring in Florian Wirtz for a club-record £116million fee, as well a bolstering their squad with further key additions. Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili's move from Valencia - which was initially agreed last summer - was officially finalised at the beginning of July and he will compete with Alisson Becker. Jeremie Frimpong has been signed as a direct replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Milos Kerkez will provide competition for Andy Robertson at left-back. Already the highest spenders in the Premier League this summer, Liverpool's spree is now verging on £300m after agreeing a £79m deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. However, according to various reports, the Reds are still active in the transfer market. In fact, French publication Foot Mercato claim Arne Slot's side have taken the next step in their attempts to land Rodrygo. It has been reported that while no contact has been made with Real Madrid directly yet, discussions have taken place between Liverpool and the 24-year-old's entourage to discover if a transfer is possible. In a massive boost for the Merseyside giants, Rodrygo is said to favour a move to the Premier League if he were to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and this is despite links to Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. Furthermore, Spanish publication AS state that a meeting will take place between Los Blancos and Rodrygo to clarify his situation and find out if he wishes to seek a new adventure. Liverpool could face competition for the Brazil international's signature as both Arsenal and Tottenham have been heavily linked. Should Rodrygo end up at Anfield then he could be a direct replacement for Luis Diaz who has reportedly performed a surprise U-turn over his future amid links to Bayern Munich or Federico Chiesa after being left out of the Asia pre-season squad tour.
