After the classical games ended in a stalemate, the contest moved to the tie-breaker, where Deshmukh pounced on an error made by Humpy and claimed the title. It was a moment of extreme jubilation for the 19-year-old, as she etched her name in the history books to become the first Indian to win the FIDE Women's World Cup. She is also the youngest to achieve the feat.
The elation quotient went further up for Divya as she has also acquired the right to be called a Grandmaster following the win. She will be the 88th GM of India, and only the 4th Indian Women GM, after Humpy, Harika Dronavali, and R Vaishali.
At 19, Divya Deshmush has already entered the class of elites, and the sky will be the limit for her. As for Humpy, she will be expected to brush aside the defeat and bounce back like the champion she is.

Just days after Virat Kohli posted a photo of himself after a training session, fellow India veteran Rohit Sharma has also posted a picture of himself with former assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in the gym. Nayar reposted that with the caption that said: 'Let it begin'. According to PTI, Rohit has begun training with Nayar at a suburban Mumbai facility after taking a break of a couple of months from cricket following the IPL. Rohit retired from T20Is after leading India to victory in the T20 World Cup last year and then from Tests during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). This has left ODIs as the only format in which he plays international cricket and India next play one only in October when they tour Australia. Kohli has also retired from T20Is and Tests and this has led to a lot of specuation around his and Rohit's future with the Indian ODI team. Nayar was sacked as India's assistant coach in April this year after India's dismal run of form in Tests. Rohit is known to work with him on occassion personally and Nayar remains a reputed batting coach. KL Rahul had worked with Nayar prior to the recently concluded five-match Test series in England, in which he ended up scoring 532 runs. Considered one of the greatest opening batters of all time, Rohit has scored 11,168 runs in 273 ODIs at an average of 48.76 with 32 centuries and 58 half-centuries. He is the only batter to have scored three double centuries in men's ODIs and his 264 remains the highest-ever score by any player in the format. Rohit had led a dominant India to the final of the 2023 World Cup. However, while they were hardly challenged by any team throughout the tournament, India were thoroughly outplayed by Australia in the final and lost by six wickets, a result that Rohit admitted in later months took a big toll on him mentally and emotionally.
