The Reason Why Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom Broke Up
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have apparently ended their relationship after almost a decade together.
News of the longtime couple's split has been rumored for weeks, but was confirmed by Us Weekly, who spoke to an anonymous source that said "Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable. It's not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life."
The insider added the breakup has been "a long time coming" since things "have been tense for months" and they've been "living apart since Katy has been on tour." Meanwhile Katy is "keeping busy" and "is distracted."
Katy and Orlando got together back in 2016 when they were spotted flirting at the Golden Globes. They then broke up in 2017, with their reps issuing a joint statement to People saying "Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand, we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time." Around the same time, Katy tweeted this:
They were back together by early 2018, and Orlando popped the question on Valentine's Day 2018:
The couple went on to welcome their daughter, Daisy Dove, in 2020. In April of last year, Orlando opened up about their relationship during On Purpose With Jay Shetty, saying "I think I'm constantly learning to let go. Because anything that I try to hold onto, whether it's good or bad, doesn't serve me. Not in the relationship, and it doesn't really serve either of us. And that's really hard. To keep letting go and to keep letting her go."
He added, "I think when you are in a deeply loving, committed relationship, you want to control or own or have and, you know, even just letting go of ideas, how things should be, or the idea of what intimacy or intimate moments are to you versus them, or whatever it may be."
FYI, Katy and Orlando's last public appearance together was at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in March 2025:

Katy Perry And Orlando Bloom Split, End Engagement
According to People, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have split up. Orlando and Katy, 48 and 40 respectively, began dating in 2016 and announced their engagement in 2019. It's not the first time they've split, as they previously took a yearlong break in 2017. They share a 4-year-old daughter named Daisy. News of their split follows weeks of rumors surrounding the pair, with one report earlier this month stating that the failure of Katy's album 143 "made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension." Shortly after, a source further claimed that the couple were "pretty much done" and that they "don't really see them being able to turn things around here" — though Katy is currently focused on her tour. Earlier this week, TMZ reported that Orlando was about to attend the upcoming Jeff Bezos/Lauren Sanchez wedding as a "single man." Today, People confirmed that the couple had ended their engagement and parted ways. A source further told Us Weekly, "Katy and Orlando have split but are not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.' Katy is currently on tour in Australia, so it's unlikely that she'll be joining Orlando at the billionaire Venice wedding. I reaaaaally hope it wasn't done via text before she went on stage!

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom End Engagement, Break Up After 9 Years
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have called it quits. PEOPLE can confirm that the couple, who got engaged in 2019, have gone their separate ways. TMZ was first to report the news. Perry, 40, and Orlando, 48, met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016. At the time, they fought over an In-N-Out burger. "I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out. We were at the Golden Globes and we weren't together," she said during an episode of American Idol. "So I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs and all of a sudden I see my boyfriend's hand — he wasn't even sitting at our table — he just swoops in and he grabs it and I was like, 'Hey that's my burger!' " Then, in May of that year, they made their relationship Instagram official after attending the Cannes Film Festival. By February 2017, the couple announced they'd split — but still remained friends. (Perry later opened up about the year-long break during an appearance on Call Her Daddy.) "We're friends, it's good," Bloom said of his split with Perry in April 2017. "We're all grown up. She happens to be someone who is very visible, but I don't think anybody cares about what I'm up to. Nor should they. It's between us. It's better to set an example for kids and show that [breakups] don't have to be about hate." Then, in February 2018, a source told PEOPLE that the couple was spending time together — but "not necessarily putting a label on it." "They are not girlfriend and boyfriend. They do seem very happy together though. Orlando always had the nicest things to say about Katy. He loves spending time with her," the source said. Months later, in September, they made their red carpet debut at as a couple at the Gala for the Global Ocean at the Opera of Monte-Carlo in Monaco. On Valentine's Day in 2019, Bloom got down on one knee, Perry later revealed during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. "Orlando had planned this for a while," a source told PEOPLE. "He wanted it all to be special." He even asked for her parents' approval beforehand. Perry and Bloom then announced that they were expecting a baby in the singer's music video for "Never Worn White" in March 2020. While the couple was set to wed in Japan in early summer 2020, they had to postpone their nuptials due to the burgeoning coronavirus pandemic. In August of that year, the couple welcomed their baby girl, Daisy Dove. (Bloom is also dad to son Flynn, 14, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.) A year later, Perry told PEOPLE that motherhood was "just the best in the world. It's the game-changer." She added, "My heart is so full, finally." Since then, the couple continued to support each other in their professional endeavors. In September 2024, Bloom presented Perry with her Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards. That same month, Perry attended the premiere of Bloom's movie The Cut during the Toronto Film Festival. In September 2024, Perry opened up about Bloom's energy as a romantic partner during an appearance on Apple Music with Zane Lowe. "He's a real sage. We both have parts of ourselves. There's two parts of us, our highest good, and then our carnal, material self. Ego," she said of Bloom. "When the ego is running the show, then it's like, 'Whoa.' But when that's in check, then we're both something else." Speaking with PEOPLE in January 2025, Perry opened up to PEOPLE about navigating her personal life — including her relationship with Bloom — while on the road. "I've talked a lot about love languages and how important they are in learning your partner's love language, and even if it isn't your love language, tapping into that for them," the "Thinking of You" singer said. Most recently, during her Lifetimes Tour stop at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Perry jokingly accused a fan of "DM'ing my man" and asked them to stop. "Listen, if you keep DM'ing my man... Oh, Kyle? I know, I know. You've been doing it for months, ever since the [Play] residency," she told a fan in the crowd. "You didn't come to see me play," she said. "If you keep on DM'ing my man, I'm going to have you removed. Seriously, get your own life." Read the original article on People
