Pres. of Hungary hosts official welcome ceremony for UAE Pres.
An official reception ceremony was held for His Highness in Kossuth Lajos Square, in front of the Parliament Building, where the UAE President's motorcade was escorted by a procession of riders on horseback. Following performances of the national anthems of the UAE and Hungary, His Highness inspected the guard of honour and was greeted by senior Hungarian ministers and officials.
The Hungarian President then greeted members of the delegation accompanying His Highness.
His Highness was accompanied by a delegation that included H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade; Sana bint Mohammed Suhail, Minister of Family; Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State; Maryam bint Ahmed Al Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary General of the UAE Cabinet; Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Ali Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the President's Office for Strategic Affairs and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office; Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant of Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; Saud Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Hungary, and a number of senior officials.

UAE leaders praise key role of youth in nation's growth
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, said via the X platform: 'On International Youth Day, we express our appreciation for the pivotal role of youth in the advancement and prosperity of societies. We celebrate the achievements, ambitions, and active presence of Emirati youth in all areas of national work, and we affirm our continued empowerment and preparation for them to lead the development process and build a better future for our nation.' His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stated via the X platform that the youth of the nation are the fuel, spirit and driving force of its progress. 'On International Youth Day, we celebrate our young nation, our loyal youth in all fields, and the youthful spirit that drives our vision and ambitions towards internationalism,' he said. 'We say to all our young people across the country, you are the fuel, spirit and driving force of our progress, and with you and for you, we are building the best living environment for the youth around the world,' he added. His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah stated, 'We now protect the youth with correct knowledge and attractive jobs, and provide them with homes they can be proud of. However, the world is open, and the soul is prone to temptation. We tell the youth that the mosque is there, the university is there, and the school is there. We hope that falsehood does not come to them from within themselves.' Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), highlighted the capability of young people to change the world for the better in various ways. In a statement to mark International Youth Day 2025, Sheikha Latifa said it was vital that the youth were accorded the necessary encouragement to make a tangible impact in their respective communities and the world at large. She emphasised that there is something inherently unique about the way young people move through the world, stirring a curiosity about what might be achieved, reminding one and all of their own first encounters with possibility. The youth, Sheikha Latifa, said, may not always announce their impact, yet it happens in quiet but powerful ways, by challenging a habit, reimagining a process, or offering an idea no one thought to consider. Through their creativity, effortless ease as communicators, and spirit of collaboration, the youth are redefining progress, making it more inclusive, inventive, and responsive to the challenges the world faces, she said. The theme of this year's International Youth Day, 'Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,' reflects what is already unfolding in the UAE and beyond, Sheikha Latifa said. 'Young people engage with this world in a distinctive way. I am captivated by the passion I see in their eyes, and by the curiosity and love of exploration that characterises them. The difference they make is reflected in their unique ideas, bold new visions, and their ability to challenge the norm,' she added. Sheikha Latifa added that, across the UAE, young people are transforming global challenges into local opportunities, weaving hope into policy and progress into the fabric of daily life. Whether it's a student-led climate solution, a neighbourhood coding programme, or a grassroots art initiative, these offer proof that innovation, when grounded in empathy, can transform entire systems from the ground up, she pointed out. She recalled how Sheikh Mohammed, who had placed unwavering belief in her own innate potential just as she saw the promise in the youth of the UAE, once said: 'Our value in life is defined by what we do.' Sheikha Latifa said she saw that same spirit reflected in the young people of the UAE, in their courage to act, their creativity to imagine, and their determination to build a better future, urging one and all to listen to them, invest in them, and walk alongside them, knowing that when the youth lead, the world will surely move forward.

Russia has won war in Ukraine, Hungray's Orban says
In power since 2010, Orban has been criticised by some European leaders for his government's ties with Russia and opposition to military aid for Ukraine, while his cabinet is struggling to revive the economy from an inflation shock. Orban, who has maintained close ties with Putin even after Russia's February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, became the only European Union leader on Monday not to endorse a joint statement saying Ukraine should have the freedom to decide its future. "We are talking now as if this were an open-ended war situation, but it is not. The Ukrainians have lost the war. Russia has won this war," Orban told the 'Patriot' YouTube channel in an interview. "The only question is when and under what circumstances will the West, who are behind the Ukrainians, admit that this has happened and what will result from all this." Hungray, which gets most of its energy from Russia, has refused to send weapons to Ukraine, with Orban also strongly opposing Ukraine's EU membership, saying it would wreak havoc on Hungarian farmers and the wider economy. Orban said Europe had missed an opportunity to negotiate with Putin under former U.S. President Joe Biden's administration and now was at risk of its future being decided without its involvement. "If you are not at the negotiating table, you are on the menu," Orban said, adding that he partly opposed the EU's joint statement on Ukraine as it made Europe look "ridiculous and pathetic." "When two leaders sit down to negotiate with each other, the Americans and the Russians ... and you're not invited there, you don't rush for the phone, you don't run around, you don't shout in from the outside."

Ministry of Interiors hosts International Youth Day activities, opens first youth space at federal government level
12 Aug 2025 21:58 ABU DHABI (WAM)Dr. Sultan Saif Al Neyadi, UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs, attended International Youth Day activities at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) headquarters in Abu Dhabi and inaugurated the first youth space at the federal government event was attended by senior ministry officials, police leaders, and representatives of youth opened with a speech highlighting the UAE leadership's commitment to empowering youth and the MoI's role in developing their skills, in line with the directives of His Highness Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the ceremony featured presentations on the journey and achievements of the MoI Youth Council, the graduation of the first batch of the six-month Nucleus of the Future programme to train Emiratis for security and police careers, and the recognition of five outstanding youth-led projects under the Nabras Al Shabab Neyadi toured exhibits showcasing the council's current and future projects, including the Exceptional Leader project at the Police College and the Young Leaders by the Federal Youth Authority, the new youth space aims to enhance youth participation in decision-making, support innovation, and provide facilities for workshops, events and brainstorming sessions. It is the first of its kind across federal ministries and entities. The event concluded with a youth panel discussion hosted by the MoI Youth Council to mark International Youth Day.
