Man in his 50s killed after being hit by pickup truck as boy, 14, among four teenagers arrested over ‘drug driving'
FIVE people have been arrested after a man in his 50s was killed after being hit by a truck. Cops are appealing for footage after the pedestrian was killed while crossing the road in Crawshawbooth, a village in the Lancashire Pennines, on Friday. 1 Police raced to the scene at 10.06pm following reports a Toyota Hilux Invincible had collided with a pedestrian while he was crossing the carriageway in a suspected drug-driving crash. It was reported that a Volkswagen Golf was in close proximity to the Toyota at the time. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the man sadly died. Lancashire Police said: "His family are being supported by specially trained officers and our thoughts are with them at this time." Five people were arrested and remain in custody. An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Two 19-year-olds, a 14-year-old boy, and an 18-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while impaired through drink or drugs. Sgt Bex Price, from the Road Policing Unit, said: 'This collision has resulted in a man losing his life and first and foremost my thoughts remain with his loved one at this devastating time. 'Work is now ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to the collision and as such I want to appeal for anyone in the area with CCTV or doorbell footage which captured anything which could assist the investigation team to come forward. "Similarly, if you were in or around the area of Burnley Road at the time and have mobile phone or dashcam footage which could help us, then I would urge you to get in contact as soon as possible.'

Flintshire: Four in hospital after multi-vehicle crash closes A55
Four people have been taken to hospital and a major incident declared following a multi-vehicle crash in north were called to the scene on the A55 near Pentre Halkyn, Flintshire, at 15:21 BST on Saturday after a lorry travelling in the eastbound carriageway collided with two westbound person with serious injuries was airlifted, and another taken by road, to hospital in Stoke-on-Trent.
