Lynn Lake could evacuate again due to fire threats
The Town of Lynn Lake could be forced to evacuate again due to wildfire threats almost two weeks after being given the all clear to return.
A notice posted on the town's Facebook page notes the multiple wildfires in the area could impact critical infrastructure in the area.
'Wildfire activity may impact the main Manitoba Hydro transmission lines supplying power to Lynn Lake as early as tomorrow,' the post reads. 'If this occurs, the community could experience a power outage anticipated to last at least one month while infrastructure is repaired.'
Evacuees returned to the community on June 20 after an evacuation due to wildfires on May 27.
The community said if a power outage happens, the town will be unable to maintain essential services, such as water treatment and emergency supports.
Residents are encouraged to have a go bag packed with government identification, medications, clothes and other essentials, and if they can leave on their own, they should do so.
The town is also setting up bus evacuations for people who need help, with a schedule being set up later Thursday.
Evacuees will be accommodated in Winnipeg, the post reads.
