Actor Michael Sheen visits Theatr Gwaun, Fishguard
He came to the theatre in his new role as and now artistic director of Welsh National Theatre, to find out what the theatre offered and what its audiences were interested in as well as to discuss possible future collaborations.
Seated in the venue's Martha's Bar he said that the community owned theatre was 'such a beautiful theatre, it's wonderful'.
'With this new company, Welsh National Theatre one of the most important things you can do to begin with is see what's out there,' he explained.
'Go and look at what's going on in the country and visit all the theatres that are out there. Find out what you're doing, what you're excited about, what's interesting to you. How we can work together.'
He added that Welsh National Theatre wanted to make 'shows that are there that are meaningful to Welsh audiences and telling our stories' that could be played on the biggest stages in the world, including the Millennium Centre, in Cardiff but also wanted to work in 'beautiful little theatres' like Theatr Gwaun.
'So you need to get out there and see what's out thee to be able to start doing that,' he said.
'To see what the audiences are into as well, what your experience is in this community and to find out what people are watching, what people would like to watch, what would be meaningful to people and see how we can serve that.
'It's such a beautiful theatre this, it's wonderful.'
Michael Sheen announced earlier this year that he was setting up Welsh National Theatre to fill the gap left by National Theatre Wales, which closed after Arts Council Wales made £1.6m in cuts to its core funding.
He has self-financed the company initially, saying that he wanted it to 'be something that represents the rich culture that we are and always have been in this country'.

Eagle-eyed Strictly Come Dancing stars have reportedly spotted a huge star arriving at the BBC Elstree studios for rehearsals The Strictly Come Dancing professionals were all smiles as they rocked up for the first day of rehearsals for the new series on Monday. Ahead of its launch in September, a whole host of familiar faces were papped on Monday morning as they made their way into the rehearsal studio and they were joined by two new recruits. However, it wasn't just the professional dancers that caught fans eyes as one huge reality TV star was reportedly seen arriving at the studio in BBC's Elstree base. According to onlookers, none other than former Love Island star Dani Dyer was spotted arriving at the studios. Naturally, this has sent Strictly fans into overdrive as they believe that mum-of-three Dani, 28, would be the perfect contestant for the long-running BBC dance competition. Sharing a post to Reddit, one user wrote: "My daughter's a receptionist at Elstree and was super excited that she saw Dani Dyer at the studio yesterday. Something to do with Strictly??" Someone else replied: "She is rumoured actually! I guess she will be on it, she'll be good." And another Reddit user echoed: "I've heard her name floating around so that would be brill news." Last month, Dani's name was thrown into the hat as rumours began to circulate about who the stars would be this year. A source told The Sun at the time: "Bosses are thrilled she's agreed to take part and are ironing out her fee. "She's bubbly, down-to-earth and straight-talking and producers reckon she'll make an ideal contestant - not to mention the bonus of having Jarrod and dad Danny in the audience supporting her." It comes after all of the professional dancers, old and new, were seen arriving at the very first day of rehearsals for the long-awaited 2025 series. First to be seen arriving, was much-loved star, Amy Dowden, who is back in business after being forced to leave the show early last year while recovering from a foot injury. The Welsh wonder, who also underwent chemotherapy and a mastectomy in May 2023 following her breast cancer diagnosis, looked delighted to be back with her pals as she smiled for photographers, clutching a coffee and a Holland and Barret bag. Also flashing a smile a mile wide was last year's champion, Dianne Buswell. The Aussie, who lifted the Glitterball trophy with Chris McCausland, arrived at the dance studio sporting a tan waistcoat and matching boots with cut-off denim shorts alongside fellow pro, Kai Widdrington, who flashed the peace sign. Next to arrive was South African star, Johannes Radebe, who cut a striking figure, sporting a Protect The Dolls a paisley neckerchief and suede ankle boots. He was followed by Spanish champion, Gorka Marquez and Ukranian dancer, Nadiya Bychkova, who looked gorgeous in an all-cream ensemble with a Union Jack bag. Nadiya recently admitted that she and pro, Kai, no longer speak to one another after they briefly dated, so hopefully things will go smoothly in training today. Also seen at the studio were Vito Coppola, Lauren Oakley, Karen Hauer and Michelle Tsiakkas. They were joined by Jowita Przystal and Janette Manrara's husband, Aljaz Skorjanec. And finally, making their debut in the Strictly gang were new recruits, Alexis Warr and Julian Caillon. Alexis, hailing from the US, triumphed in So You Think You Can Dance in 2022, earning the title of America's Favourite Dancer and becoming the first female Ballroom and Latin dancer to win the accolade. Meanwhile, Julian, originally from Australia, started dancing at the tender age of 10, focusing on Ballroom and Latin American styles, and has proudly represented Australia in international competitions. The Mirror has contacted Dani Dyer's representatives and a Strictly Come Dancing spokesperson for comment on this story.

TfW commits to sustainable travel at Eisteddfod in Wrexham
Following last year's success in Pontypridd, TfW has worked in collaboration with Wrexham County Borough Council and the Eisteddfod organisers to establish transport arrangements that prioritise green travel options. The Eisteddfod, a celebration of Welsh language and culture, will be held in Isycoed, Wrexham, from Saturday, August 2, to Saturday, August 9, 2025. Wrexham General station is the closest to the Maes, and to cater for the increased number of passengers, TfW and Avanti West Coast will run extra services throughout the week. Shuttle buses will provide free transportation for onward journeys to the Maes, operating frequently between Wrexham General railway station, Wrexham bus station, and the Maes from 8am until midnight daily. The TrawsCymru T3 bus route, running from Barmouth to Wrexham, will also make the Eisteddfod Maes an additional designated stop. TfW is working with Cycling UK and Wrexham Council to identify safe routes for visitors arriving by bike or on foot. Wrexham care home residents make decorations for Eisteddfod
With just days to go before the National Eisteddfod arrives in the city, art club members from Pendine Park's Bryn Bella home have created colourful giant heart decorations and 50 metres of bunting. Their handmade work will help decorate the entrance to the Maes at Is-y-coed, where the festival will take place from August 2 to 9. Mario Kreft MBE, owner of Pendine Park, said: "Wrexham is rightly proud to be the host of this year's National Eisteddfod and we are equally proud to be supporting the event. "It is one of the biggest cultural festivals in the world and all eyes will definitely be on Wrexham in August. "It's fantastic to think that the decorations made by our brilliant amateur artists at Bryn Bella will be adding even more joy to the occasion. "Well done to them all." She said: "Our residents have themselves made about 20 metres of bunting and we've also had some fabric bunting made by our soft furnishing team. "I designed the main pattern and our art club enthusiasts have added their own individual touches to them." Mr Ithell said: "I started by painting the white background first then overlaying the colours onto it. "It's taken me about four days in all, but it's been worth it." Ms Edwards praised the effort and creativity shown by residents and activity coordinators. She said: "They have worked really hard on this, as we all determined to give the National Eisteddfod visitors a really big welcome to our home turf." The bunting includes simple designs with green-outlined hearts and red centres on a white background. Carole Ball, a resident and keen artist, said: "It's a simple design but it's surprisingly effective." Gareth Bellis pleased with his bunting creations. Ms Ball said: "We've naturally been using a lot of red, green and white in our paintings as those are the national colours of Wales. "It's always good to know that our artwork will go on show and be seen by the wider public." Ms Powell decorated the word Croeso with music-themed motifs using coloured pencils. This year's honorary Eisteddfod president is Mark Lewis Jones, the acclaimed actor from Rhosllannerchrugog. The event's first schedule of competitions and activities is now available on the Eisteddfod's website, with more details to be released.
