The Athletic declares Jeremiyah Love the best running back in college football for 2025
The Athletic has named Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love as the best RB1 prospect for the 2025 season.
Love, a draft-eligible underclassman who stands an estimated six-feet tall and weighs an estimated 210 pounds, is author Dane Brugler's clear number one prospect.
Brugler says that Love has "instinctive athleticism", though he must get better at pass-catching. Brugler says Love is clearly the best running back in college football and has the talent to be the best playmaker in next year's draft.
Here's an example of Brugler's analysis.
"It doesn't take a trained eye to spot Love's exceptional talent. A springy athlete, he has the lateral agility to bounce between gaps and the immediate acceleration to burst through holes at full speed. He ties it all together with innate patience and reactionary movements — those traits plus his balance through contact make him a nightmare to tackle."
Brugler suggests Notre Dame may have won the national title over Ohio State had Love not been hampered by a knee injury. I think it's safe to say we're all hoping to see Love at 100 percent this fall.

Oleksandr Usyk vs. Joseph Parker: WBO orders undisputed champion to defend title against interim titleist
Joseph Parker may get another shot at a world heavyweight title. The WBO, on Thursday morning, officially ordered the undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk to defend his title against the interim champion Joseph Parker next. The respective parties have 30 days to reach an agreement, or the WBO will proceed to an open purse bid. Usyk is not aligned with a major promoter at this time, while Parker is represented by Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions. Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) is just five days removed from his sensational KO victory over Daniel Dubois to unify the four titles. The Ukrainian, who also previously held the undisputed cruiserweight championship, owns a pair of wins over Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. The first Joshua victory saw Usyk capture three heavyweight belts in 2021, while the initial Fury triumph in 2024 made him the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years, since Lennox Lewis in 1999. Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) previously held the WBO heavyweight strap from 2016-18. The New Zealander, who is widely considered the best available challenger for Usyk, is on a six-fight unbeaten run that includes upsets over Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang. Most recently, Parker stopped late-replacement Martin Bakole in just two rounds in February in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Crocker vs. Donovan 2 for IBF welterweight title Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing formally announced the anticipated all-Irish rematch between Lewis Crocker and Paddy Donovan for the vacant IBF welterweight title on Sept. 13 at the Windsor Park stadium in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The pair were ordered to rematch by the IBF after the contentious ending to their first bout in March, which was an IBF final eliminator. Donovan was controversially disqualified for flooring Crocker with a right hook after the bell sounded to signal the end of Round 8. The Limerick man, who was well on his way to victory when he was disqualified by referee Marcus McDonnell, blamed the raucous atmosphere from the sold-out SSE Arena for his failure to hear the bell. Donovan had, however, been deducted two points earlier in the bout for use of the head — the second of which was just 45 seconds before the punch after the bell. When Jaron "Boots" Ennis announced his move to super welterweight, it opened the door for Belfast's Crocker and Donovan to square off for the vacant IBF championship. And when they do so, it will be the first time in history that two Irish boxers have contested a world title fight.

Notre Dame announces men's basketball 2025-26 non-conference schedule
Notre Dame has completed its men's basketball non-conference schedule for the 2025-26 season and has now officially announced who they will face. The Fighting Irish will have two exhibition games: one at Butler (October 17) and then at home against DePaul (October 24) inside Purcell Pavilion. The regular season then begins with three straight home games against LIU Brooklyn (November 3), Detroit Mercy (November 7) and Eastern Illinois (November 11). ND will play its first road game at Ohio State on November 15 before hosting Bellarmine on November 19. Then the team will head to Las Vegas to compete in the Players Era tournament with games against Kansas, Rutgers and a team to be determined (off of win-losses and point differential) from November 24-26. In December, the Irish will host Missouri in the ACC/SEC Challenge on December 2 before playing their final road non-conference game at TCU on December 5. They close out their non-conference slate with three straight home games against Idaho (December 10), Evansville (December 13) and Purdue Fort Wayne (December 21). After a disappointing 2024-25 season, Notre Dame will look to rebound this coming year and hopefully make a return to the NCAA Tournament. Notre Dame finds its 2027 quarterback, as 4-star Georgia prospect Teddy Jarrard commits
It is hard to find a hotter team recruiting than Notre Dame football at the moment, and on Thursday the good times kept rolling at 2027 Georgia quarterback Teddy Jarrard committed. The Irish beat out Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State for the 6-foot, 3-inch and 190-pounder, adding the No. 195 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings to its class. The Irish have made significant changes to the way they recruit since Marcus Freeman was elevated to head coach, and one of the biggest differences we have seen is the recruiting at the quarterback position. Jarrard is the latest to join the fold, as in the last few years we have seen CJ Carr, Kenny Minchey, Blake Hebert and soon to sign Noah Grubbs getting added to Notre Dame's roster. Over the next two years, the newest Irish quarterback commit will see an uptick in his high school competition after transferring to North Cobb in Kennesaw, a much tougher division. As a prospect, Jarrard has everything you are looking for, size, speed, arm strength and anticipation. He won the Rivals 5-star quarterback challenge last month, and could see a big jump in his ranking as he gets closer to his signing date. This was a massive recruiting win for Notre Dame and we are certainly excited to see Jarrard wearing the Blue and Gold in the future.
