Why Dogecoin Is Sinking Today
Dogecoin's most prominent backer, Elon Musk, is once again involved in a public spat with President Donald Trump.
The Musk-Trump feud reignites
Musk's unofficial role as the "Dogefather" has left the cryptocurrency tied to Musk's public actions. His backing of Trump's presidential run and subsequent place in his administration as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) -- a not-so-subtle wink to Dogecoin -- propelled Dogecoin to heights not seen since 2021. The price more than doubled in the days following the election.
Musk left DOGE after a public spat with Trump, which has been mostly dormant for the last month. However, yesterday the feud reignited with a fresh round of attacks from Musk of Trump's One, Big, Beautiful Bill. This garnered a response from Trump that included the president calling for DOGE to review the subsidies Musk's companies receive, saying there is "BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!"
Dogecoin isn't a serious investment
Dogecoin is a meme coin. Its value is derived not from utility, but from vibes. That makes it incredibly volatile and subject to wild swings in price. Its recent price appreciation was built entirely on the hype that surrounded Musk's place at Trump's side, so when that goes away, so does the hype. I would not put my money in Dogecoin.

Canada-US trade talks resume after Carney rescinds tech tax
TORONTO, Canada: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced late on June 29 that trade negotiations with the U.S. have recommenced after Canada decided to abandon its proposed tax on American technology companies. U.S. President Donald Trump had previously halted discussions, criticizing Canada's intention to implement the tax as "a direct and blatant attack on our country." In response to the evolving trade situation, the Canadian government stated that it would withdraw the Digital Services Tax "in anticipation" of reaching a trade agreement. This tax was set to take effect on June 30. Following a phone call between Carney and Trump, Carney's office confirmed that both leaders agreed to resume negotiations. In a statement, Carney emphasized that "today's announcement will support a resumption of negotiations toward the July 21, 2025, timeline set forth during this month's G7 Leaders' Summit in Kananaskis." Carney had previously visited Trump at the White House in May, maintaining a polite but assertive demeanor. When Trump attended the G7 summit in Alberta, Carney noted that both countries had established a 30-day deadline for trade discussions. In a social media post, Trump indicated that Canada had reaffirmed its plan to move forward with the digital services tax, which would affect both Canadian and international companies interacting with users in Canada. This tax would impose a three percent charge on revenue from Canadian users on companies such as Amazon, Google, Meta, Uber, and Airbnb. It would apply retroactively, resulting in a potential US$2 billion bill for U.S. firms by the month's end. Daniel Béland, a political science professor at McGill University in Montreal, described Carney's decision to retract the tax as a "clear victory" for Trump. He suggested that while this move could have been necessary for the trade negotiations, Carney's actions were a direct concession to appease Trump, which ultimately benefited both the White House and major tech companies. Discussions between Canada and the U.S. have also included the potential easing of substantial tariffs imposed by Trump. He has enacted 50 percent tariffs on steel and aluminum, as well as 25 percent tariffs on automobiles, alongside a 10 percent tax on imports from numerous countries, with the possibility of increasing rates on July 9 after a 90-day negotiating period.

Can Nvidia Stock Reach $200 This Year?
Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) stock is back in the market's good graces after plunging earlier this year. Despite reassurances from management, investors were worried about the company's future when China's DeepSeek chatbot came out and further concerned about impact of new tariffs. As Nvidia continues to report stellar earnings results and upgrade its technology amid a pause on many of the new tariffs, investors are feeling more love toward Nvidia stock. As of this writing, Nvidia stock trades just north of $150, and it's back to beating the market. Can it reach $200 before the end of the year? Where to invest $1,000 right now? Our analyst team just revealed what they believe are the 10 best stocks to buy right now. Continue » AI is a huge opportunity Nvidia makes the semiconductor chips necessary to drive generative artificial intelligence (AI), or the apps that "think" and create. There are two basic stages to that process: training and inference. The large-language models that run the data and produce output need a tremendous amount of power for these processes, training on millions of data points that are constantly updated and running through tons of algorithms to create accurate content and images. Nvidia's chips make that happen. Since so many tech companies want to use generative AI in their operations today, Nvidia's chips are in great demand. Although there are alternatives, Nvidia has between 70% and 95% of the market, depending on who you ask. Even at the lower end, that's a huge lead over the competition. As the gold standard, Nvidia is relied upon by the biggest companies like Microsoft and Amazon as a partner. This is where the greatest opportunity is. Amazon, for one, has its own line of budget options for smaller companies, but the large, brand-name clients it services need Nvidia's powerful chips. The demand is only expected to increase. According to Statista, the AI opportunity is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 26.6% over the next five years, reaching $1 trillion. A huge portion of that is likely to go to Nvidia. Management continues to launch new products that can handle higher data loads, making them more attractive to clients. Its Blackwell technology, which launched last year to replace the Hopper architecture, is already moving into Blackwell Ultra, and management is planning to release a new range of chips next year under the Rubin name. Nvidia is unstoppable In the near term, Nvidia continues to report phenomenal results despite serious setbacks. U.S. regulations mean it can't ship its best chips to China, stymying progress in that market, and Nvidia took a hit to its earnings in the fiscal 2026 first quarter (ended April 27) related to a charge for orders it couldn't fulfill. Yet the first-quarter results were outstanding. Revenue increased 69% year over year, and earnings per share (EPS) were up from $0.60 last year to $0.76 this year, inclusive of the one-time charge. Management is guiding for growth to decelerate in the second quarter but remain high at a 50% increase year over year. Wall Street is looking for EPS of $1, up from $0.68 last year. For the full year, Wall Street is expecting $200 billion in revenue and $4.29 in EPS, up from $130 billion (a 54% increase) and $2.99 (a 43% increase) over last year. The valuation can handle it If the valuation remains constant, Nvidia stock will rise along with its earnings. If it rises 54% from where it started out this year, it will reach $212. If it rises 43%, it will reach $197. If nothing much changes and Nvidia meets Wall Street's expectations, the stock should surpass $200 by the end of the year. However, Nvidia tends to beat expectations. If that happens, it could rise further. High-growth stocks can also carry higher valuations. If Nvidia's valuation rises, the price could also rise further. At the current price, Nvidia stock trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of 50 and a price-to-sales ratio of 26. Those aren't cheap numbers, but they're pretty reasonable for Nvidia's growth. The likelihood is that Nvidia hits at least $200 before the end of the year, or shoots 27% higher than the price at the time of this writing. Should you invest $1,000 in Nvidia right now? Is Tesla Still the EV King?
Tesla TSLA has been a polarizing stock over the last decade, delivering massive gains for investors as we increasingly shift toward EVs. And in 2025, shares have been volatile, down 25% overall with big price swings. Notably, the stock currently sports an unfavorable Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell), with analysts revising their EPS expectations negatively across the board in a big way over recent months. The downward revisions paint a challenging picture for TSLA's share performance in the near term, and investors can expect a heightened level of volatility here given the stock's historical nature. With that said, let's take a closer look at its latest set of quarterly results and a big competitor, Rivian Automotive RIVN. Tesla Faces Sales Decline Tesla reported Q1 revenue of $19.3 billion and adjusted EPS of $0.27 in its latest release, reflecting year-over-year declines of 9% and 50%, respectively. Still, results from Tesla's Energy Generation & Storage segment reflected some positivity, with sales climbing 67% year-over-year to $2.7 billion. Below is a chart illustrating the company's sales on a quarterly basis. Concerning EV production/deliveries, Tesla delivered roughly 337k EVs and produced nearly 363k throughout the period. While the EV numbers are important, another critical aspect of the release was the margin picture, with the company's gross margin contracting to 16.3% vs. a 17.4% print in the same period last year. Please note that the margins chart below is calculated on a trailing twelve-month basis. The crunched profitability has been a big headwind for the stock, regularly dictating post-earnings price movements as of late. Rivian Sees Upward EPS Revisions Rivian shares have been much stronger in 2025 so far, gaining roughly 2% compared to Tesla's 25% decline. Its latest set of quarterly results was primarily positive, with gross profit of $206 million reflecting a quarterly record. Notably, the company produced roughly 14.6k vehicles throughout the period, delivering 8.6k. While the numbers are miniscule compared to that of Tesla, the results remained in-line with management's previous guidance, a critical hurdle to clear for any EV player. It's worth noting here that while Rivian has 100% US vehicle manufacturing and sources most materials (excluding cells) in the US, it's still not immune to the impacts of the current global trade and economic environment. The company revised its current-year guidance concerning vehicle deliveries as a result, now expecting FY25 deliveries in a range of 40-60k. The earnings outlook for Rivian remains bullish, with the current Zacks Consensus EPS estimate of -$2.49 up 14% over the last several months. The company has enjoyed positive revisions across nearly all timeframes, as shown below. Putting Everything Together Tesla TSLA shares have been big-time winners over the past decade for many, but recent performance has undoubtedly left a sour taste in many mouths. The recent profitability crunch and slowing sales growth are driving forces behind the stock's poor performance, with competition also quickly becoming fierce. Rivian RIVN shares have been much stronger in 2025, with the company's EPS outlook much more favorable. Given Tesla's current Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell) rating, investors would be better off waiting on positive EPS revisions, which would signal a bullish turnaround in sentiment.
