Time of India6 hours ago

Google's Veo 3 model now powers AI video generation on Canva, the company announced in a press release today. The new feature allows users to generate 8-second video clips with synchronized audio using voice or text prompts in a single workflow. The tool is available to Canva's paid and nonprofit users as well as
Leonardo.Ai
subscribers (starting at $10/month). For those unaware, Leonardo.Ai is owned by Canva. The integration brings cinematic-style video creation to millions without the need for specialized software or skills.
To recall, Google released the Veo 3 tool last month at I/O 2025. The AI-powered video generation tool allows users to generate videos from text and image prompts. This includes speech such as dialogues and voice-overs; and audio, such as music and sound effects.
Canva also revealed its plan to acquire MagicBrief, an AI-driven creative platform used by marketing and design teams worldwide. Both announcements highlight Canva's growing investment in AI-powered content creation and creative tools.
Cameron Adams, co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Canva said: 'Enabling anyone to bring their ideas to life – especially their most creative ones – has been core to Canva's mission ever since we set out to empower the world to design. By democratizing access to a powerful technology like Google's Veo 3 inside
Canva AI
, your big ideas can now be brought to life in the highest quality video and sound, all from within your existing Canva subscription. In true Canva fashion, we've built this with an intuitive interface and simple editing tools in place, all backed by Canva Shield.'

YouTube to add Google Veo 3 to Shorts
In a related news, YouTube CEO
Neal Mohan
recently announced that the video platform will soon integrate Google's most advanced AI video generation tool, Veo 3. The AI video tool is coming later this summer.
Mohan said 'The possibilities with AI are limitless. A lot can change in a generation. Entertainment itself has changed more in the last two decades than any other time in history. Creators led this revolution.'
He continued 'My bet for the next 20 years? Creators will flip formats, blend genres, and push deeper into the mainstream — as brand ambassadors, big business ventures and visionary storytellers. Communities will continue to surprise us with the power of their collective fandom. And cutting-edge AI technology will push the limits of human creativity. My biggest bet is that YouTube will continue to be the stage where it all happens. Where anyone with a story to share can turn their dream into a career… and anyone with a voice can bring people together and change the world.'

2026 Nissan Leaf unveiled, now gets upto 600 km of range

Nissan has unveiled the 2026 Leaf in the global market. For this generation, the manufacturer has made some drastic changes in terms of styling, charging and driving range. The Leaf has been spotted on our roads several times, but there are no plans to bring it to the Indian market. Since its global debut in 2010, the Nissan LEAF has become a popular choice in the electric vehicle segment, with nearly 7,00,000 units sold. Bold Design Meets Advanced Aerodynamics Crafted at Nissan's Global Design Studio in Japan, the all-new Leaf showcases a sleek silhouette and a drag coefficient of just 0.25, making it one of the most aerodynamically efficient vehicles in its class. Features like flush door handles, a streamlined roofline, and sculpted surfaces enhance the visual appeal. Despite its compact dimensions, ideal for city navigation, the car boasts an impressive 437-litre boot and a spacious cabin tailored for family life. The interior is reflected with premium materials, ambient lighting, and ergonomic design. A dimming panoramic glass roof, distinct 3D rear lamps, and alloy wheels ranging up to 19 inches reinforce the Leaf's premium yet practical identity. The interior now features dual screens along with Bose sound system. Range and Smarter Charging The Leaf offers two battery options and supports fast charging up to 150 kW, enabling up to 417 km of range in just 30 minutes. On highways, it delivers over 330 km at 130 km/h. Intelligent battery thermal management paired with an integrated Google Maps-based Route Planner ensures efficient energy use and optimised charging, even during cold weather. Beyond driving, Leaf's Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability can power devices like grills or lights during outdoor adventures. With future-ready Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) support, the car could one day contribute power back to the grid, helping users cut energy costs and support sustainability. Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Meta comes together to fight US State government's AI restrictions

The world's largest technology companies, Amazon , Google, Microsoft and Meta are lobbying for a decade-long federal moratorium blocking individual states from regulating artificial intelligence, a controversial move that has divided both the AI industry and the Republican Party. Lobbyists representing these four companies are urging the Senate to enact the 10-year ban on state-level AI legislation, according to sources familiar with the effort. The provision was already included in the House version of President Donald Trump's budget bill that passed last month, with the Senate expected to unveil its version this week ahead of a July 4 deadline. Chip Pickering, a former congressman and CEO of trade association INCOMPAS, has advocated for the proposal on behalf of members including Microsoft, Amazon, Meta and Google. "This is the right policy at the right time for American leadership," Pickering told the Financial Times. "But it's equally important in the race against China." Republicans break ranks as critics warn of 'power grab' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo The lobbying campaign has created unusual political divisions, with some prominent Republicans opposing the measure. "We have no idea what AI will be capable of in the next 10 years and giving it free rein and tying states hands is potentially dangerous," Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) posted on X. "This needs to be stripped out in the Senate." Critics argue the moratorium represents an attempt by Big Tech to maintain dominance in developing artificial general intelligence. "[It's] a power grab by tech bro-ligarchs attempting to concentrate yet more wealth and power," said Max Tegmark, an MIT professor and president of the Future of Life Institute. A coalition of 140 organizations previously sent a letter to House leadership opposing the ban, warning it "would mean that even if a company deliberately designs an algorithm that causes foreseeable harm," companies would remain "unaccountable to lawmakers and the public." Supporters contend the provision would prevent a patchwork of conflicting state regulations that could hinder innovation and allow China to gain ground in AI development, the Financial Times reported.
