New Delhi:
Shazia Iqbal's Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, released in theatres last Friday.
What's Happening
Dhadak 2, a remake of the critically acclaimed Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, collected over Rs 11 crore at the box office, as per Sacnilk.
Dhadak 2, described as a spiritual sequel to the 2018 film Dhadak starring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, earned Rs 3.5 crore on its opening day.
The second day saw a slight increase with Rs 3.75 crore, while the third day brought in Rs 4.25 crore. The film's total collection now stands at Rs 11.50 crore.
Background
At the box office, the film is competing with several titles, including Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2, the animated film Mahavatar Narsimha, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara, and Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom.
Among these, Saiyaara continues to dominate. Now in its third week, it collected Rs 8 crore on Sunday, outperforming Dhadak 2 and has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark in India.
Dhadak 2 follows the story of a law student who falls in love with his classmate, only to face harassment from her family due to caste differences.
Speaking about the film's message, Triptii Dimri told PTI, "It should reach the maximum audience because it's entertaining and also leaves a little note, so that is something which we are constantly looking for. We found that equilibrium... There is something real and sensitive about it ('Dhadak 2'). All of these guys have more responsibility, and they are very well aware of that. That's why they have been very quiet about everything, like while we were shooting for the film, even the censor board issues, we never spoke about anything."

Saiyaara Box Office Collection Day 23: Ahaan Panday And Aneet Padda's Film Sees Growth

New Delhi: Mohit Suri's latest offering, Saiyaara, hit the theatres on July 18. The film, which marked the Bollywood debut of Ananya Panday's cousin Ahaan Panday, also featured Aneet Padda in the lead role. On its fourth Saturday, Saiyaara witnessed growth in its box office collections thanks to the Raksha Bandhan holiday. The film minted Rs 3.35 crore at the box office. The total collection of the romance drama now stands at Rs 314.10 crore, reported Sacnilk. Saiyaara outperformed Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri starrer Dhadak 2, which minted only Rs 1.4 crore on its second Saturday. The film released on August 1 in theatres, two weeks after Saiyaara. Currently, Saiyaara is facing tough competition from Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2. The film earned Rs 4 crore on August 9, as per a report in Sacnilk. Saiyaara has emerged as the second-highest-grossing film of the year after Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava. It has also set the record for being one of the highest-grossing opening weekends of the year. At the global box office, the romance drama has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark. Talking about Saiyaara 's domestic collection, trade analyst Taran Adarsh stated that he doesn't see the film crossing the Rs 500 crore mark in India. In a conversation with NDTV, he said, "No, I think this is the maximum. But then this is also a huge achievement for a film with newcomers." Taran added, "Saiyaara has rewritten all records. And of course, if you look at the collection, it is the biggest opener, biggest grosser for a film starring newcomers. It's crossed the 300 crore mark, which is a first for a film starring new faces. Sharing the limelight with such biggies is unimaginable. Before the release, I'm sure a lot of people did not think this movie would work. But then the box office speaks for itself." Produced by Yash Raj Films, Saiyaara deals with love, loss, and heartbreak in a poignant way. The film features Ahaan Pandey as Krish Kapoor, a struggling musician, alongside Aneet Padda as Vaani Batra, a young writer diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

‘Kingdom' becomes Vijay Deverakonda's second biggest hit, Eyes Arjun Reddy to claim top spot

Vijay Deverakonda's action film Kingdom is performing well. It has become his second-biggest career hit within 10 days. The film has surpassed the earnings of Kushi. Kingdom's collections are nearing Arjun Reddy's record. The movie opened strongly across Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil versions. Its success has boosted Deverakonda's position in Telugu cinema. Vijay Deverakonda 's latest action drama Kingdom has emerged as the actor's second biggest career hit after just 10 days of release. The film has already overtaken the lifetime India net collections of his 2023 romantic drama Kushi (co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu ), and now stands at Rs 49.6 crore across all languages. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, Kingdom opened to a strong Rs 18 crore on its first day, with the Telugu version contributing a massive Rs 17.25 crore. Despite a sharp drop on Day 2 to Rs 7.5 crore, the film stabilized over the weekend, earning Rs 8 crore on Saturday and Rs 7.4 crore on Sunday. The first week closed at a solid Rs 47.35 crore, making it one of the most profitable ventures for Deverakonda in recent years. The film entered its second week with Rs 1 crore on Friday (Day 9) and picked up on Saturday (Day 10) with Rs 1.25 crore in early estimates. Industry trackers expect Sunday's collections to push Kingdom past the Rs 50 crore mark by the end of it , leaving it just shy of a historic milestone for Deverakonda overtaking Arjun Reddy . Released in 2017, Arjun Reddy not only catapulted Vijay Deverakonda to stardom but also remains his highest-grossing film to date with an India net of approximately Rs 51 crore. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo With the Kingdom less than Rs 1.5 crore away from that benchmark, trade experts predict the record could fall within the next couple of days, provided weekday drops remain controlled. The success of Kingdom is particularly significant because it comes after a mixed phase in Deverakonda's career. While Kushi performed decently with around Rs 46 crore net, it was nowhere near his earlier box office highs. The positive response to Kingdom bolstered by strong action set pieces, lavish production values, and Deverakonda's commanding screen presence has restored his position as one of Telugu cinema's leading box office draws. The Tamil version, though contributing modestly (Rs 3.65 crore so far), has helped expand Deverakonda's footprint in Tamil Nadu, a market which has been actively targeted by Telugu film actors. The theatrical run also benefits from limited competition, allowing the film to hold well in key urban centres. Though the film might be breaking the numbers of Arjun Reddy in the times to come, it is unlikely that Kingdom will have the same cultural impact as Sandeep Reddy Vanga 's directorial debut.
