During the visit, Hala Badri toured the exhibition, which features 27 carefully selected contemporary artworks from The Farjam Foundation's collection by regional artists. The works, curated by Amir Arvand, explore how Middle Eastern artists have depicted women over the past eight decades, presented across four thematic sections: Identity and Visibility; Personal and Emotional Landscapes; Tradition, Modernity, and Cultural Memory; and Social Commentary and Critique. The exhibition invites audiences to engage in a critical dialogue through art, celebrating the diversity of voices that shape the cultural fabric of the Middle East.
Badri praised the quality of the featured artworks and their ability to portray women within the ever-evolving visual landscape of the region, as well as their role in driving social and cultural transformation. She stressed that each piece represents an exceptional and inspiring artistic journey, highlighting the creative energy of regional talent and their unique perspectives, ultimately reflecting the richness and originality of Dubai's and the surrounding area's vibrant art scene.

Dubai Culture Launches ‘Harakat Sikka' to Nurture Next‑Gen Animators
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) is now accepting applications for Harakat Sikka, a stop motion animation and visual storytelling training programme under the Sikka Platform. By giving emerging creatives room to experiment, learn and produce original work, the initiative fuels growth across Dubai's arts ecosystem and reinforces the emirate's status as a global hub of the creative economy. The course is delivered through immersive workshops in both Arabic and English. It welcomes UAE nationals and residents aged 18 or older—students, artists, filmmakers, designers and writers—who want to bring stories to life on screen. No prior experience is needed. House 436 in Al Shindagha Historical Neighbourhood will come alive with a month-long creative programme running from 18 August to 26 September 2025. Limited to just 10 participants, the programme offers an exclusive opportunity to meet three times a week under the guidance of director-artist Boubaker Boukhari, celebrated for his experimental, folklore‑infused stop‑motion techniques, in a setting designed to be both focused and highly interactive. Participants will explore every stage of the craft, moving from concept development and storyboarding through filming, editing, and finally strategies for distribution and festival submission. Practical workshops in character design, visual arts, and audio recording lead up to a public screening of their projects at the Sikka Art & Design Festival. Dubai Culture invites aspiring storytellers to apply by submitting short written responses explaining their motivation and interest in animation. Applications must be submitted via this link no later than 8 August. Candidates will be selected based on their demonstrated interest in animation and, where applicable, the submission of a CV or creative portfolio. Beyond technique, Harakat Sikka helps participants produce original shorts that reflect their ideas and identity. Trainees gain hands-on experience with filmmaking tools and learn how to prepare their work for local and international festivals. The initiative supports the Authority's mission to build sustainable talent development platforms, expand training pathways, and deepen community engagement with the arts—reinforcing Dubai's position as a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent.

Dubai Culture and Dubai Racing Club Seal Strategic Partnership to Promote Emirati Heritage
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Racing Club (DRC) to deepen cooperation in the fields of culture and local identity. Through this partnership, both organisations will develop innovative programming and experiences that highlight Emirati customs, enriching the Dubai World Cup with authentic MoU underscores a shared commitment to championing the values and traditions of the UAE internationally. It also supports Dubai's broader strategy of fostering collaboration among local entities, aligning with the emirate's strategic objectives. The agreement was signed by Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, and Ali Abdulrahman Al Ali, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Dubai Racing Club. Talent Atelier: Second Edition Empowers UAE-Based Designers and Fosters Cross-Disciplinary Dialogue Between Jewelry and the Arts
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced the launch of the second edition of the Talent Atelier programme, organised in collaboration with L'ÉCOLE Middle East, School of Jewelry Arts, supported by Van Cleef & Arpels. The initiative aims to empower a group of six designers to deepen their understanding of jewelry artistry through a blend of academic learning and practical training under the guidance of L'ÉCOLE Middle East's lecturers and jewelry under the umbrella of the Dubai Cultural Grant, one of the Authority's key initiatives aligned with Dubai's Quality of Life Strategy, the programme reflects Dubai Culture's commitment to strengthening the cultural and creative industries, while positioning Dubai as a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for first phase of the programme, which runs until 11 July, features a series of interactive workshops hosted at L'ÉCOLE Middle East's campus in Dubai Design District (d3). These sessions will introduce the participating designers — Kamla Al Olama, Sara Al Khayyal, Noora Al Shamsi, Hessa Al Abdulla, Hind Janahi, and Andreea Andres — to the three core pillars of the programme: art history, jewelry-making craftsmanship, and gemology. The hands-on training enhances their design capabilities, equips them with practical craftsmanship skills, and supports them in translating their creative visions into preliminary design sketches and second phase of the programme will take place in Paris from 1 to 5 September 2025, where the selected designers will have the opportunity to take part in L'ÉCOLE's educational programme at its Paris campus, located on the Grands Boulevards at the iconic Hôtel de Mercy-Argenteau. There, they will engage in a range of immersive learning experiences and visits to partner museums, to expand their knowledge of jewelry arts in one of the world's foremost design third and final phase will culminate in Dubai, where the participants will present their completed projects in the form of real-life designs.
