Dallas Wings React to Paige Bueckers' Move on Wednesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Paige Bueckers is quickly becoming one of the biggest sports stars in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The Dallas Wings rookie has made a solid impression so far during her first season in the WNBA, and she seems to only be scratching the surface of her potential.

On Wednesday, she threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a Texas Rangers game against the Kansas City Royals at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The Rangers lost, 6-3, and dropped to 36-38 on the season, but it was a fun outing for Bueckers.
The Wings took to their official X account to highlight this special occasion for the standout guard.
"No stage too big for 5," the caption read.
So far this season, Bueckers is averaging 17.7 points and 5.7 assists a game while shooting 47.2% from the field. After struggling in the first few games of the year, she has picked up her play more recently, and she poured in 35 points on 13-of-19 shooting last Wednesday against the Phoenix Mercury.

The Wings have a dismal 2-11 record, which is the worst mark in the WNBA, but in Bueckers, they have some tangible hope for the foreseeable future.

She was a big-time star at UConn during her time there. Despite missing all of the 2022-23 season with a torn ACL, she finished her college career with averages of 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists a game, and she shot 53.1% overall and 42.3% from 3-point range.
This past season, the Huskies won the women's NCAA championship thanks largely to Bueckers, and she won her second Nancy Lieberman Award and her third Big East Player of the Year award.

Connecticut Sun Makes Statement After Loss to Caitlin Clark, Fever

Connecticut Sun Makes Statement After Loss to Caitlin Clark, Fever originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Connecticut Sun suffered their third straight loss on Tuesday in an 88-71 blowout against the Indiana Fever. Advertisement As expected, Caitlin Clark stole the show, as the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year led her team to their second straight win behind 20 points, six assists and four three-pointers. Clark, however, also made headlines after being involved in multiple physical altercations throughout the contest. One in particular that stood out was an incident in the third quarter that saw Clark get called for a technical foul after shoving Sun guard Jacy Sheldon. Clark was retaliating after getting poked in the eye by Sheldon, which resulted in Marina Mabrey and Tina Charles also getting involved in the physical confrontation. In the end, Clark and Co. battled hard and were able to take down the Sun, who fell to 2-9 on the season after another disappointing loss. At the same time, however, he wasn't entirely pleased with how his team let their emotions get the better of them in this one. Advertisement 'When it's an away game, it will never be in our (favor)," he said, via Brian Haenchen on IndyStar. "It's why I say we lost our mind, instead of sticking to our game plan and focusing on our game. "It was a good learning opportunity, so hopefully we can learn from this game." Toward the end of the game, two Sun players, Sheldon and Lindsay Allen, were ejected after another incident with Fever veteran Sophie Cunningham, who was also tossed. Unfortunately for the Sun, they suffered another loss on Wednesday. They played for a second time in two nights, and they found themselves on the losing end again, this time against the Phoenix Mercury, 83-75. Patrick Mahomes Endorses Player for 2025 MLB All-Star

Patrick Mahomes Endorses Player for 2025 MLB All-Star originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Count Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes among those who want Kansas City Royals third baseman Maikel Garcia to be part of the 2025 MLB All-Star at Truist Park in Cumberland, Georgia, this coming July. Advertisement The three-time Super Bowl champion showed his support for the Venezuelan by sharing a post made by the Royals, asking fans online to vote for Garcia. The 25-year-old Garcia also had a big night on Wednesday against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, as he went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs. His three-run home run in the third inning erased a two-run Kansas City deficit and put the Royals in front for good, as they came away with a 6-3 victory. With Mahomes' endorsement, the hope is that Garcia will get more people to help him become an All-Star in his fifth season in the big leagues. Garcia has been one of the Royals' top contributors this season, as he leads all qualified Kansas Royals hitters with a .318 batting average to go with eight home runs and 36 RBIs. Tennis legend Chris Evert rips WNBA stars for not appreciating Caitlin Clark after wild melee

Tennis legend Chris Evert needled WNBA players for lack of sportsmanship following Tuesday night's skirmish that saw Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark get poked in the eye and shoved to the ground in a game against the Connecticut Sun. Clark and Sun players Marina Mabrey and Tina Charles were hit with technical fouls. Jacy Sheldon was given a flagrant foul. Later, Fever guard Sophie Cunningham appeared to retaliate with a hard foul on Sheldon. Both players were ejected from the game with 40 seconds left. Evert was among those who commented on the Clark incident. 'When will these ladies realize, accept, and appreciate @CaitlinClark22 is the best thing that ever happened to women's basketball. This is a bad look for the sport and what's happened to sportsmanship?' Evert wrote on X. She responded to a social media post made by columnist Christine Brennan, who is set to release a book on Clark next month. 3 Chris Evert at the 2023 US Open.
