Floating market to boost tourism in Sepang's Kg Labu Lanjut
SEPANG: A floating market will be introduced in Kampung Labu Lanjut here as a unique community tourism product for both domestic and international tourists, with potential to boost the local economy, says state exco member Datuk Borhan Aman Shah ( pic ).
The floating market concept is one of three economic project proposals submitted by its village development and security committee, he said.
Borhan, who is state housing and culture committee chairman, said the introduction of the floating market concept could elevate the state's profile internationally.
He said the village's proximity to Kuala Lumpur International Airport will be an advantage in realising the floating market concept at the location.
'There is potential not just in Sepang; possibly, we may introduce floating markets in northern Selangor as well in the future,' he said.
'Places like Sabak Bernam have rivers in Sekinchan and other areas.
'So I am confident this effort will have positive economic impact locally,' he told reporters after launching the Madani Adopted Village: Kampung Labu Lanjut programme here yesterday, Bernama reported.
Also present was Datuk Dr Roslan Hussin, the director-general of Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia under the Prime Minister's Office.
Earlier in his speech, Roslan said the selection of Kampung Labu Lanjut as a Madani Adopted Village by Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia marked the beginning of a grassroots development initiative.
'The government has allocated up to RM1mil for each village involved in this programme.
'This is a significant investment that reflects the government's commitment to holistic development, encompassing not just physical infrastructure but also social and economic progress as well as human values,' he said.
Besides the floating market concept, he said a night market will also be introduced in the village as a micro-economy platform and community trading space.
The Madani Adopted Village programme is part of the government's effort to ensure no community is left behind in national development, through its 'One Leader One Village' approach.

RCEP, ACFTA Key To Unlocking ASEAN-China Trade Potential - ASEAN Sec-Gen
BUSINESS From Kisho Kumari Sucedaram HUANGSHAN, June 5 (Bernama) -- Stronger grassroots implementation, simplified processes for businesses, and closer public–private partnerships are key to unlocking the full potential of regional trade pacts, according to ASEAN Secretary-General Dr Kao Kim Hourn. Kao was referring to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA). He said the frameworks of both are complementary and critical in expanding market access, fostering resilient supply chains and enhancing regional competitiveness. 'Strong public–private partnerships are essential not only to help businesses integrate into regional value chains, but also to support them in scaling up operations and contributing to more responsive policymaking,' he said at the 2025 RCEP Local Governments and Friendship Cities Cooperation (Huangshan) Forum held here today. Kao also noted that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the backbone of the ASEAN economy, often face barriers in accessing financing and navigating complex regulations. In this regard, he encouraged local authorities to support MSMEs through targeted outreach, advisory services and simplified administrative processes. He commended the proactive efforts of cities and local governments in facilitating trade adoption through policy dialogues, capacity building and incentive schemes that are essential for helping businesses navigate technical trade rules and realise the benefits of both RCEP and ACFTA.

Denodo Unveils AI SDK Developer Certification To Advance Enterprise AI Skills
BUSINESS KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- Denodo, a leader in data management, has introduced Denodo AI SDK Certified Developer Associate, a new professional certification aimed at enhancing expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) development. The certification recognises individuals equipped with skills to accelerate the creation of AI and generative AI (GenAI) applications using Denodo's AI Software Development Kit (SDK). Denodo chief technology officer, Alberto Pan said the certification aims to support developers and organisations in leveraging AI capabilities more effectively. "By providing a concrete pathway to recognise and enhance skills, we are enabling organisations to leverage the full potential of their AI initiatives," he said in a statement. The certification follows the release of the Denodo Platform version 9.1 in November 2024. The current version, Platform 9.2, includes the Denodo Assistant, an automation tool that delivers contextual insights, and the Denodo AI SDK, which supports the development of AI-powered applications through integration with large language models (LLMs) and vector databases. The SDK applies the retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) framework, enabling AI applications to access enterprise data securely and accurately. Data professionals who recently received Denodo certification underscored its value in career development. José Pallas, a data leader at airline company Vueling, said certified professionals are better equipped to manage the company's Denodo environment, and Vueling encourages professional development and sees certification as a way to ensure in-house expertise. Similarly, Hananto Prabowo, a data expert at Continental, said certification supports continuous learning and knowledge sharing in the fast-evolving data landscape.
