#SHOWBIZ: DJ Soda reveals heartbreaking hair damage after bleaching incident
SEOUL: South Korean artiste DJ Soda recently took to Instagram to share a deeply upsetting and personal experience: a hair bleaching session that went horribly awry.
In a candid bilingual post (Korean and English), the 37-year-old star opened with a blunt, heartbreaking statement: "Hair salon ruined my hair."
She explained that after concluding her tour and taking a three-year hiatus from hair colouring to restore her tresses' health, she decided to go blonde again as a surprise for her fans.
Trusting her usual salon, she returned for the treatment, expecting professional care. "My hair was originally thick, full, and in healthy condition," she lamented.
Tragically, the bleach was left on for far too long, causing her hair to 'melt' from the roots. The damage was so severe that she had no choice but to shave the entire back and sides of her head.
The ordeal left DJ Soda absolutely devastated.
"I was so upset that I couldn't sleep for two weeks and cried almost every day," she confessed.
"It's really hard for me to look in the mirror. When I see videos fans took of me, I feel even more heartbroken."
Despite her typically cheerful and energetic stage persona, DJ Soda revealed that recovery — both physically and emotionally — will be a protracted journey.
She estimates it will take at least two years for her hair to fully recover.
She urged fans to exercise extreme caution when considering hair bleaching, emphasising the critical importance of choosing a skilled and experienced stylist.
"Don't end up like me – bleaching really depends on the hairstylist's skill. Please seek specialists and do thorough research beforehand."
In a shocking follow-up post just a day later, DJ Soda made another grave accusation: instead of offering a sincere apology, the salon allegedly contacted her, requesting she delete the initial post and offering money along with a settlement agreement.
"Even if I were offered billions, it would not undo the damage to my appearance or the pain I'm currently enduring," she wrote defiantly.
"I have given them ample opportunity to resolve the issue."
She further claimed that she had not received any apology or direct contact from the salon for three weeks following the harrowing incident.
"All I ever wanted was for them to honestly admit their mistake and offer a genuine apology."
By going public with her distressing story, DJ Soda hopes to raise awareness and ultimately protect others from enduring a similar trauma.
Her posts have garnered widespread sympathy from fans and followers alike, with many commending her bravery and transparency in speaking out about such a personal and painful experience.

(Video) South Korean Singer Paul Kim Covers Anuar Zain's 'Sedetik Lebih' During Recent KL Show
Seeing your favourite K-pop idol perform live in your own country is always exciting. While it's common for artists to greet fans in the local language, it's much rarer—and more special—when they perform a song in that language, showing true respect for the culture. On 22nd June (Sunday), South Korean singer Paul Kim (폴킴) performed at the '2025 ROUND' Festival in Malaysia. Known for his heartfelt ballads, he offered a calming contrast to Dragon Pony's energetic set before him. The songwriter then surprised the audience by covering the popular Malaysian song 'Sedetik Lebih' by Anuar Zain. Known as the 'OST Prince,' Paul Kim, born Kim Tae-hyung (김태형), is a renowned songwriter in the Korean entertainment industry. Since beginning his career in 2014, he has gained recognition for his work on popular K-dramas such as 'Should We Kiss First?' and 'Hotel Del Luna.' His music stands out for its rich blend of R&B, jazz, and emotional lyrics, showcasing a wide musical palette. Recently, he was invited to perform at '2025 ROUND', a festival dedicated to spreading South Korean music across ASEAN countries. This year, Malaysia hosted the event, featuring 14 artists from across the region. As the headline performer on the second day, Paul Kim delivered a memorable set, showcasing a selection of his signature OSTs and beloved songs to the audience. During his performance, the Korean singer made a genuine effort to connect with the local crowd, letting his warm personality shine. One of the night's most memorable moments came as the lights dimmed and soft drums filled the air. The audience cheered as he began singing a segment of Anuar Zain's 'Sedetik Lebih' with clear Malay pronunciation. His emotional delivery and clear vocals showcased his talent beyond language. With that simple yet powerful gesture, the Genie Awards winner left a lasting impression on the Malaysian crowd. His ability to bridge cultures through music made his '2025 ROUND' performance truly unforgettable, securing his place in the hearts of local fans. The positive response from the audience shows how taking the time to learn and sing songs dear to locals' hearts can leave a lasting impact towards an idol.
