Malcolm Jenkins came through in the clutch in our Saints Play of the Day
The Saints were trailing 27-23 late in the fourth quarter when Williams found space in the Saints secondary; Kitna threw a dart, and then it was off to the races. Williams had a step on Tracy Porter but Jenkins closed the gap quickly, meeting the Cowboys receiver at the New Orleans 11-yard line. A tackle would've been enough, but Jenkins did even more. He stripped the ball from Williams' hands and recovered the fumble in one of the biggest plays of the season. You can see it for yourself right here.
And Drew Brees didn't waste that opportunity. He got out of the Saints' own red zone with a 22-yard pass to Marques Colston, and then flipped the field on an impressive 55-yard lob to Robert Meachem. Lance Moore caught his next pass, scoring the go-ahead touchdown, and the Saints never looked back. Dallas' final possession ended with a missed field goal from 59 yards, and then all it took was for Brees to kneel out the clock.
But things could have gone very differently if Jenkins didn't wrestle the ball out of Williams' hands. If he had scored or even set up the Cowboys offense to drain the clock themselves, New Orleans probably doesn't win this one. That Jenkins came through in such a big spot with all of America watching is commendable.

Saints safety J.T. Gray just suffered the first injury of training camp
New Orleans Saints veteran safety J.T. Gray suffered a lower-body injury during Monday's practice, which was the first injury of this year's training camp. Afterwards, Saints head coach Kellen Moore said that Gray was still being evaluated, but that he did not "think that it was anything bad." Moore also later added that he will be able to provide more of an update on Tuesday after tests are completed. Rod Walker of The Times-Picayune noted that Gray had slipped during a special teams session, which makes sense as that is the main role that Gray plays on the team. Gray is one of the longest-tenured players on the roster, having been in New Orleans since he entered the league as an undrafted rookie in 2018 (out of Mississippi State)). He has only played 153 career snaps on defense, but has 2,065 career snaps on special teams. He made the All-Pro first team in 2021, when he was also recognized as a Pro Bowler, and has made the second team twice, most recently last year.

Cowboys' Rob Jones breaks neck bone in training camp
Dallas Cowboys guard Rob Jones is expected to miss several months after suffering a scary injury during training camp. ESPN reports that Jones broke a bone in his neck at practice on Sunday. The former Miami Dolphins guard had been taking first-team reps at training camp prior to his injury, which puts some immediate pressure on Dallas' offensive line depth. The Cowboys signed (or re-signed) five offensive linemen in the offseason and drafted two more, including first-round pick Tyler Booker. Jones signed a one-year, $4.75 million deal with Dallas in March. He previously played the first four years of his career with the Dolphins after joining the team as an undrafted free agent. COWBOYS NEWS: Team EVP Stephen Jones has unique take on Micah Parsons contract Jones started all 17 games at left guard for Miami last year and played 95% of the team's offensive snaps, according to Pro Football Reference. Cowboys guard depth chart Dallas has six guards on its current roster, according to the team's ESPN depth chart. Here's who they are: Charles, Hoffman and Jones were all free agency additions this offseason. Booker was the team's first-round pick. Smith was the Cowboys' first-round pick in 2022 and has been a starter for them ever since, making the Pro Bowl each of the last two seasons. Bass has been with the Cowboys for the last two years after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

Packers activating OL Elgton Jenkins off non-football injury list on Monday
Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins is being activated from the non-football injury (NFI) list and will participate in individual periods during Monday's practice. Jenkins, who is moving to center for the 2025 season, began training camp on the NFI list and missed the first four practices while recovering from a back injury. Packers coach Matt LaFleur said they will ease Jenkins back into the mix. "Yeah, he'll be limited," LaFleur said Monday. "I think he's just doing individual. We'll build him up." Jenkins, who was the team's starter at left guard in 2024, will move to center this season. Aaron Banks -- the Packers' big free agent addition on offense -- is the new starter at left guard. Jenkins, a two-time Pro Bowler, didn't practice during the offseason workout program and is still hoping for an adjustment to his current contract given his position change and the two years of non-guaranteed money left on the deal. Despite the contractual issues, the Packers insisted Jenkins had a legitimate back injury and wasn't holding in to start training camp. Elsewhere along the offensive line, the Packers had a recent injury scare with Banks, who missed a practice last week after suffering a minor back injury. He returned in a limited capacity but didn't do team periods on Sunday. Like Jenkins, the Packers will be careful with Banks as he returns from injury. "He's a vet. We want to make sure he doesn't set himself back. There's a lot of communication going on in terms of how he's feeling and the plan we have for him, so I'd say it's going to be pretty fluid," LaFleur said of Banks. Once healthy and ready for full participation, Jenkins and Banks can rejoin the first-team offensive line and give the position group a chance to build cohesion before the start of the regular season.
