Adi Srinivas seeks funds for devpt works in Vemulawada
Srinivas said that Rs 10 crore had already been sanctioned for the construction of the right and left canals of the Kalikota Sooramma reservoir in Kathalapur, Medipalli and Bheemaram mandals, which is prone to flooding. 'If additional funds are released, the works can be completed, enabling irrigation for 43,000 acres,' he noted, adding that CM Revanth Reddy had personally inspected the project during his tenure as TPCC president.
He further informed the CM that forest clearances had been obtained for the construction of the Chandurthi–Motkaravupeta road and that the State government had already sanctioned over Rs 7 crore for the project. 'An additional Rs 10 crore would help complete the work, which will greatly improve connectivity between villages,' he pointed out.
Highlighting the urgent need for bridges over Moolavagu and Pentivagu streams in Konaraopet mandal, Srinivas proposed construction of bridges at Bausaipet–Venkatraopet, Mamidipelli–Nizamabad, Vattimalla–Nimmapelli and Venkatraopet–Kondapur. The CM assured that these would be taken up under the HAM (Hybrid Annuity Model) scheme.
'I have always prioritised mobilising funds for the welfare of my constituency. With the CM's assurance, the works are expected to gain momentum,' Srinivas stated.

Delhi's Big Step To Clean Up Yamuna - A Rs 917-Crore Plan Approved
New Delhi: In a significant step toward cleaning the Yamuna, the Delhi Jal Board has approved projects worth Rs 917 crore to boost the capital's sewage treatment capacity by 51.5 million gallons per day. The move is expected to sharply reduce the flow of untreated water into the river, one of the biggest contributors to its pollution. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had earlier directed the Delhi government to nearly double its sewage treatment capacity to 1,500 million gallons per day by 2028 as part of the ongoing efforts to clean the river. Major Upgrades at Yamuna Vihar and Keshopur The largest expansion will take place at Yamuna Vihar, where the capacity of the existing sewage treatment plant will rise from 25 MGD to 40 MGD. Alongside this, a new 15 MGD plant will be built on the site. At Keshopur, the current 12 MGD facility will be upgraded to 18 MGD. South Delhi Plants to Get a Boost Five sewage plants in South Delhi will also see capacity upgrades under the new plan, further strengthening the city's wastewater management network. Long-Term Operations & Maintenance Each project will include operations and maintenance for 11-12 years, ensuring sustained efficiency and compliance with environmental norms. A Cleaner Yamuna in Sight? Officials say the expanded infrastructure will significantly cut the volume of untreated sewage entering the Yamuna, a problem that has plagued the river for decades. Environmental experts have welcomed the move, noting that sustained investment in sewage treatment is critical to reviving the Yamuna's ecosystem and improving water quality for communities living along its banks. Cleaning the Yamuna has long been one of the BJP-led Delhi government's big promises, framed as both an environmental necessity and a public health goal. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Parvesh Verma have repeatedly said the river's revival will be a key test of their term in office.

War On Drugs: In 6 months, Punjab cops filed 16,400 FIRs, over 25K held
Chandigarh: As part of the Punjab govt's ongoing anti-drug campaign, the Punjab Police has registered 16,400 FIRs and arrested 25,646 individuals in drug-related cases since March 1. The campaign resulted in seizures, including 1,059 kg of heroin, 366 kg of opium, 215 quintals of poppy husk, and 32.35 lakh intoxicant pills and tablets, in addition to Rs 12.32 crore in drug money. AAP spokesperson Baltej Pannu said the govt's campaign is encouraging residents to take a stand against drug use. Meanwhile, AAP MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal launched a strong attack on Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira. Dhaliwal alleged that Khaira's recent actions and statements are a "cover-up" driven by fear following the arrest of his former personal security officer, Joga Singh, in a drug case. "The day Joga Singh was arrested, Khaira became visibly restless... clearly fearing that Joga Singh's statements might lead to his re-arrest," he added. Vision document is like poll manifesto, another way to mislead public: SP
Lucknow: Leader of Opposition in UP Legislative Council Lal Bihari Yadav on Wednesday said the vision document presented by the BJP govt is another effort to mislead people. "It is another effort to mislead people. It is like an election manifesto, a sankalp patra. How the govt that has not fulfilled promises made in its election manifesto can have a vision or an objective," he said during the discussion on 'Viksit Bharat, Viksit Uttar Pradesh '. The promise that they made in their first 'sankalp patra' of bringing back the black money deposited in foreign banks and giving Rs 15 lakh to every person in the country has not been fulfilled, he said. "Govt has not spoken even a word on this in parliament. It is 11 years for the BJP govt in the Centre and 8 in UP," he said. Yadav said instead of creating 2 crore jobs, as promised in their second sankalp patra, they are cutting down on jobs. "Outsourcing done by them has decreased the per capita income," he alleged. The SP MLC said the govt talked about doubling the income of farmers, but where are the farmers finding urea in the market? The income of farmers can be increased by reducing the input cost for agriculture, but that is not happening, he said. He further criticised the govt for not giving free electricity to farmers as was promised or implementing the MSP for paddy. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas Prices In Dubai Might Be More Affordable Than You Think Villas In Dubai | Search Ads Get Quote Undo "The govt had also promised that within 90 days of coming to power, it will start the process to fill all vacant posts in a transparent manner, which has not been done it till now," said Yadav. The govt is neither giving reservation to backwards nor to SCs. In the matter concerning the recruitment of 69,000 teachers, around 5,893 posts meant for the backward class and 3,000 SC seats were filled with general category people. This was mentioned in the report of the National Backward Commission. This is an expose in only one job, said the opposition leader. He said education sector was in a bad state in UP as NCERT books were unavailable to students. Later, SP members walked out after Yadav said he was not given enough time to speak in the House.
