British School of Bahrain's new senior school campus to open in 2026

Daily Tribune31-05-2025
The British School of Bahrain (BSB) has announced the development of a purpose-built Senior School campus, set to open for the 2026/2027 academic year.
Located just a short walk from the current site and adjacent to the Al Liwan Commercial Centre, the new campus represents a major step forward in BSB's commitment to future-focused education.
The launch comes as the school celebrates 30 years of delivering premium British education in Bahrain. In collaboration with Global Education consultants and leading architectural firm MSCEB, the campus has been designed to educate students from Year 10 through to Year 13.
This next-generation facility will feature thoughtfully designed classrooms to support a range of learning styles, purpose-built study areas for independent and collaborative learning, and cutting-edge technology including the integration of Inspired AI, Inspired Education's pioneering artificial intelligence platform to boost learning outcomes.
Students will also benefit from exceptional extra-curricular and performance facilities, including a FIFA-standard football pitch, athletics track, multi-purpose sports hall, an 8-lane indoor swimming pool, and an acoustically engineered 800 sqm auditorium with seating for over 500 guests.
Nadim M. Nsouli, Founder, Chairman & CEO of Inspired Education, commented: 'The new BSB campus aligns with Inspired's vision of providing its students with a premium education in state-of the-art-facilities demonstrating our commitment to excellence in academics, sports and the creative and performing arts.'
'This is more than a new building. It is a meaningful investment in the future of our students,' said Executive Headteacher Liz Stanley. 'As we celebrate three decades of shaping young minds, this next chapter enables us to reimagine what senior education can be. We are creating an environment that inspires ambition, encourages independence, and equips every student to thrive in an ever-changing world.'
With the relocation of Years 10–13 to the new Senior School, the original campus will become a dedicated centre for students from Nursery through to Year 9.
This transformation allows the school to reimagine their original campus into a vast, state-of-the-art learning environment tailored specifically for younger students, with age-appropriate innovation, care, and creativity at its heart.
This will create one of the most advanced Junior and Middle School campuses in the country, a nurturing and inspiring environment where children can develop curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

British Racing To Hold One-Day Strike In Tax Protest

British horse racing will go on strike on 10 September, taking the unprecedented action of refusing to race in protest against the Government's proposed tax rise on betting on the sport. As part of its industry-wide Axe The Racing Tax campaign, four fixtures scheduled for that day at Lingfield Park, Carlisle, Uttoxeter and Kempton Park have been rearranged by the British Horseracing Authority. It is the first time the sport has voluntarily refused to race in its modern history. The governing body is campaigning against the Treasury's proposal to introduce a single remote gambling tax, which would increase the 15% tax rate paid by bookmakers on racing and aligning it with online gaming, which is currently taxed at 21%. The BHA says this would have a 'destructive impact' on the industry with its economic analysis predicting an estimated £330m loss in revenue and putting 2,752 jobs at risk in the first year alone. A spokesperson for the Treasury told BBC Sport: 'We are consulting on bringing the treatment of online betting in line with other forms of online gambling to cut down bureaucracy – it is not about increasing or decreasing rates, and we welcome views from all stakeholders including businesses, trade bodies, the third sector and individuals.' Why is British racing going on strike? Chancellor of the exchequer Rachel Reeves's autumn budget in October is expected to bring tax rises. Brant Dunshea, chief executive at the British Horseracing Authority, said the proposals 'threaten the very future' of the sport. Race meetings in Britain take place 363 days a year, unless called off for adverse weather, equine virus outbreaks and national crises such as the Covid-19 pandemic. The strike takes place the day before the start of the four-day St Leger festival at Doncaster Racecourse. 'British Racing is already in a precarious financial position and research has shown that a tax rise on racing could be catastrophic for the sport and the thousands of jobs that rely on it in towns and communities across the country,' added Dunshea. 'This is the first time that British Racing has chosen not to race due to Government proposals. We haven't taken this decision lightly but in doing so we are urging the Government to rethink this tax proposal to protect the future of our sport which is a cherished part of Britain's heritage and culture.' Liverpool set to cut losses with Nunez move to Saudi: reports

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is reportedly closing in on a move to Saudi club Al Hilal, which could allow the Premier League champions to make a fresh bid for Newcastle's Alexander Isak. Nunez joined the Reds for an initial 75 million euros ($87 million, £65 million) from Benfica three years ago but has failed to live up to that price tag. The Uruguayan has scored 40 goals in 143 appearances but slipped down the pecking order at Anfield under both Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot. Accord - ing to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Al Hilal will pay an initial 53 million euros for the 26-year-old. Nunez was likely to play even less this season after Liverpool signed Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz as part of a 300 million euro spending spree that also includes fullbacks Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong. However, the club could still break the British transfer record by signing Isak, with Newcastle reportedly demanding a fee of up to £150 million for the Swedish striker. The sale of Nunez would take Liverpool's income for transfer sales this window t o n e a r l y 200 million euros after the departures of Luis Diaz, Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Tyler Morton.
