The forum was attended by H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI; H.E. Waleed AbdelRahman BuKhatir, Second Vice Chairman of SCCI; and H.E. Jamal Mohamed Sultan Binhuwaidin, SCCI Board Member.
Also present were Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector at SCCI; Ali Abdullah Al Jari, Director of the Sharjah Export Development Centre; and Jamal Saeed Bouzanjal, Director of Corporate Communication at SCCI; along with several Chamber staff.

The forum's agenda included focused B2B meetings and detailed presentations highlighting key investment opportunities across diverse economic sectors in both Sharjah and Ahmedabad.
Special emphasis was placed on Sharjah's business-friendly environment, including its world-class infrastructure and investor incentives. The Sharjah Chamber showcased its suite of support services aimed at enabling entrepreneurs to scale their operations and expand their global market reach.
In his keynote speech, H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais said that the Sharjah–India Business Forum in Ahmedabad is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the rapidly growing economic and trade relations between the two countries.
He noted that India's exports to the UAE totaled around USD 37.1 billion in 2024. India also ranked as the top destination for the UAE's non-oil exports, accounting for 13.5% of total exports and recording a record growth of 75.2% compared to 2023.
'Through this mission, we aim to convert this positive momentum into fruitful partnerships between the business communities of the UAE and India in general, and between Sharjah and Ahmedabad in particular, thereby enhancing economic and investment collaboration to support joint growth,' Al Owais added.
He highlighted Sharjah's position as a premier investment destination for Indian enterprises, with more than 20,000 Indian companies now headquartered in the emirate, demonstrating increasing investor confidence in Sharjah's business climate.
He further underlined the strategic significance of Ahmedabad as one of India's most vibrant industrial and economic powerhouses, noting that its business and industrial stakeholders stand to benefit from Sharjah's advanced industrial base, which hosts more than 35% of the UAE's total manufacturing facilities.
Concluding the second leg of their trade mission to India, the Sharjah Chamber delegation carried out on-site visits to several economic institutions in Ahmedabad, where they gained insights into their business activities and service offerings.

Emirati Human Resources Development Council, Azizi Group ink MoU to boost Emiratization and train national talent in real estate sector

The Emirati Human Resources Development Council EHRDC in Dubai has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Azizi Group, marking a significant step forward in promoting Emiratization and enhancing the participation of UAE nationals in the private real estate sector. The signing ceremony, attended by several officials representing both parties, underscores EHRDC's ongoing commitment to strengthening Emirati participation across the private sector. The agreement establishes a robust framework for public-private cooperation, aimed at empowering Emirati talent by providing quality employment opportunities and equipping them with specialised training to succeed in the real estate development sector – one of Dubai's key economic drivers. Grounded in three core pillars, the agreement emphasizes creating employment opportunities within Azizi's developments, introducing training initiatives to enhance the skills of national talent, and enabling direct knowledge transfer from the company's experts to Emirati employees. Moreover, it seeks to close the gap between academic qualifications and labour market needs in the real estate sector. The partnership supports the goals of Dubai Economic Agenda D33, focused on enhancing the competitiveness of the business landscape, and aligns with the objectives of UAE Centennial 2071 which strives to build a sustainable, knowledge-driven economy. It also highlights the mutual dedication of both parties toward advancing Emiratisation efforts in the private sector and empowering national talent. His Excellency Abdulla Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of DGHR Department and Deputy Chairman of EHRDC, highlighted that the MoU reflects the effective collaboration between public and private sectors in advancing Emiratisation goals. H.E. also pointed out that the real estate sector holds significant potential for engaging Emirati professionals. H.E. added: 'This agreement marks a pivotal moment in our mission to enhance the contribution of Emirati talent within the real estate sector, a vital pillar of the nation's economy. The collaboration holds special importance owing to Azizi Group's role as a strategic partner, supported by its extensive experience in real estate development and its portfolio of iconic projects that are key to Dubai's urban landscape. Through this partnership, ambitious Emiratis will gain access to valuable hands-on experience and advanced skills through comprehensive training programs aligned with international standards, alongside employment opportunities in major developments. This will enhance their preparedness and competitiveness, enabling them to play a meaningful role in driving the sector's growth.' Mr. Mirwais Azizi, Founder & Chairman of Azizi Group said: 'We are proud to partner with the Dubai Government Human Resources Department to invest in Emirati talent. At Azizi we see the hiring, training, and empowering of our Emirati employees not only as a business imperative, but also as a shared responsibility to build a better future in this wonderful country. I look forward to collaborating closely with DGHR and the Government of Dubai towards building a stronger pool of professional Emirati talent. Sustainable growth starts with people.' Abdulaziz Al Falahi, the General Supervisor of Employment Operations at the EHRDC, stated: 'We are collaborating closely with private sector partners to build an attractive and supportive workplace for UAE nationals. By enhancing their skills and empowering them to play an active role in key industries, particularly real estate, we are making a strategic investment in the future of our economy.' Both parties are committed to deepening their cooperation through employment and training programs tailored to the needs of the labour market. They focus on improving the administrative and technical capabilities of Emirati nationals while creating a supportive work environment in the private sector, and thus contributing to the sustainable development of the emirate. Azizi Group has hosted an award ceremony for its growing Emirati workforce in the Conrad Hotel on the 23rd of July 2025, as part of which appreciation certificates were bestowed upon the UAE nationals adding value to the group of companies, and with the three main change makers having received the 'Emirati Hero' award. EHRDC remains dedicated to its mission of training, recruiting, and nurturing UAE talent within the private sector by developing an integrated system built on scientific and practical foundations. This commitment is reflected in the launch of targeted initiatives supported by comprehensive field studies that assess labour market demands, particularly within key economic sectors. These efforts aim to create a supportive environment for Emirati professionals through close collaborations with leading organisations across diverse industries.

Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX) Records Record Growth in Trading Volumes as Global Investment Demand for Gold Rises

Waleed Farouk Global gold markets continue to see strong investment demand, particularly from North America, while the precious metal strengthens its position as a key international monetary asset and a safe-haven hedge against risks. According to a report issued by the Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange—the Middle East's largest digital trading platform—the number of contracts traded by the end of June surpassed one million, marking a 30% year-on-year increase in average daily trading volumes. The report also noted that the value of spot gold contract trades soared by nearly 200% compared to the first half of 2024. Among the exchange's products, the Shariah-compliant Gold Spot Contract (DGSG) emerged as a top performer, with traded value climbing to $46.8 million in the first half of 2025, up from $15.6 million during the same period in 2024. 'We have seen exceptional momentum in the first half of the year, with nearly USD 47 million traded through our spot gold contract alone—a 200% year-on-year increase—and a 30% rise in daily volumes across the exchange, driven by strong demand for DGSG and INR Quanto futures,' said Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DGCX. 'This performance not only puts DGCX firmly on track to surpass its 2024 results but also reinforces its role as a critical pillar in the region's financial infrastructure. As global markets grow increasingly complex, the continued adoption of our platform by Shariah-compliant investors, bullion traders, and institutional participants underscores the rising demand for sophisticated, secure, and transparent hedging tools,' he added. These figures highlight Dubai's expanding role as a key global gold trading hub. In a previous report, the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) revealed significant growth in gold flows through the emirate, stating that $129 billion worth of gold passed through Dubai in 2024—a 36% increase from the previous year. The gold and precious metals sector remains a cornerstone of DMCC's ecosystem, with more than 1,500 companies operating in the industry. DGCX plays an essential role in providing the physical and financial trading infrastructure that supports Dubai's position as one of the world's largest gold trading centers. Although elevated prices have recently prompted some investors to scale back their activity, analysts expect strong demand for gold to persist throughout 2025, particularly from Asian markets. Experts note that Chinese investors, in particular, have limited options for protecting their capital, making gold the most reliable asset to preserve value amid an uncertain economic environment. read more CBE: Deposits in Local Currency Hit EGP 5.25 Trillion Morocco Plans to Spend $1 Billion to Mitigate Drought Effect Gov't Approves Final Version of State Ownership Policy Document Egypt's Economy Expected to Grow 5% by the end of 2022/23- Minister Qatar Agrees to Supply Germany with LNG for 15 Years Business Oil Prices Descend amid Anticipation of Additional US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Business Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue Business Egypt's Stock Exchange Earns EGP 4.9 Billion on Tuesday Business Wheat delivery season commences on April 15 News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language

India Pledges $565M to Maldives

Israa Farhan India has announced a $565 million financial support package for the Maldives, aiming to enhance defense capabilities and invest in large-scale infrastructure projects. The commitment was made during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day official visit to the Maldives, his first since securing a third term in office. The funding includes a new line of credit designed to strengthen Maldivian security forces and address critical infrastructure needs, including healthcare, housing, and education. The announcement comes at a time of financial strain in the Maldives, with the island nation facing a shortage of foreign currency despite continued growth in its tourism sector. India also agreed to reduce annual repayments on a previous $51 million loan to \$29 million. The two sides held discussions on a potential free trade agreement, reflecting a wider effort to deepen economic and strategic ties. Modi's visit follows rising concern in New Delhi over the Maldives' closer alignment with China since the election of President Mohamed Muizzu in 2023. The new administration had previously ordered the withdrawal of a small Indian military contingent operating a rescue aircraft in the archipelago. However, diplomatic relations between the two countries appear to have stabilized in recent months, with both sides emphasizing cooperation in security and trade. During the visit, Modi inaugurated the new headquarters of the Maldivian Ministry of Defense and launched several Indian-funded infrastructure projects. These included major road developments and a housing initiative to construct 4,000 residential units, part of India's broader investment push in the region. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language
