Charlamagne Tha God on Tuesday questioned why "nobody" in the media is focusing on former President Bill Clinton's relationship with the late disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Newsweek has reached out to Clinton's office for comment via email.
Why It Matters
Clinton is one of several high-profile people whose name has appeared in court filings related to Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019. The former president has not been accused of a crime in connection to Epstein and being named in the documents does not imply criminal activity.
The Epstein case has been a hot topic in Washington for weeks since the Department of Justice put out a memo concluding that the financier died by suicide in his Manhattan jail cell and that the government is not in possession of an "incriminating" list of his clients.
The memo has upset a number of people who had sought to have such a list revealed, including a number of conspiracy theorists—many of which were amplified by Trump administration DOJ and FBI officials—that have suggested Epstein was killed as part of a government cover-up.

What To Know
Charlamagne, a popular well known media posronality, referenced Clinton's connections to Epstein during Tuesday's episode of "The Breakfast Club" radio show.
"It's just funny how the news works," Charlamagne said. "Because Bill Clinton wrote a letter to Jeffrey Epstein as well for his birthday—but nobody's talking about that."
The rapper was referring to a Wall Street Journal report last week that said Clinton was one of several noteworthy and wealthy people who wrote a note for Epstein for his 50th birthday in 2003.
The report came a week after President Donald Trump faced public scrutiny following a WSJ report that he also penned a letter to Epstein for the financier's 50th birthday. The president has faced pressure from a number of voters in his base and other Republican politicians to release more information relating to the Epstein case.
According to the Journal, Clinton's note to Epstein was written in the former president's "distinctive scrawl."
"It's reassuring isn't it, to have lasted as long, across all the years of learning and knowing, adventures and [illegible word], and also to have your childlike curiosity, the drive to make a difference and the solace of friends," the note said, according to the report.
A spokesperson for the former president declined to comment on the birthday message to the Journal and referred the outlet to a previous statement saying Clinton had cut off ties with Epstein more than a decade before he was arrested and was unaware of his crimes.
In May 2016, one of Epstein's alleged victims, Johanna Sjoberg, was asked about Clinton in a deposition. Sjoberg has said that she was in Epstein's circle from 2001 to 2006.
"[Epstein] said one time that Clinton likes them young, referring to girls," Sjoberg testified during the deposition.
Charlamagne continued discussing Clinton and Epstein on Tuesday, saying: "Jeffrey Epstein had a picture of Bill Clinton in a dress, in high heels, you know, in his New York mansion, but nobody's talking about that."
The rapper was referring to a painting of Clinton in a blue dress that Epstein had at his New York City home, which was first reported by the Daily Mail and later by New York Magazine.
Charlamagne said that talk should be about everyone on the list.
"My thing is this, I don't care who is on the list. Everybody gotta go," Charlamagne said. "Burn it all down. It's as simple as that. Mutually assured destruction. Whoever is on that list needs to go. Nobody needs to be protecting pedophiles. I don't care what party they are."
Co-host Morgyn Wood pushed back and said that if Clinton were president, he would be facing the same level of scrutiny as Trump.
"No, he wouldn't because liberal media wouldn't push the issue," Charlamagne replied.
The Journal reported that Trump's note featured typewritten text surrounded by the outline of a naked woman, complete with Trump's signature below the woman's waist, which appeared to mimic pubic hair.
"Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret," the note concluded, per the Journal. Trump denied the Journal's reporting, calling its story "fake" and subsequently sued the paper and its owner, conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch, for $10 billion.
The paper said Trump and Clinton's notes were part of a trove of birthday letters that Epstein's longtime associate and former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, compiled in a leather-bound album that she gave to Epstein as a gift for his 50th birthday.
Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted of sex trafficking and other crimes related to her relationship with Epstein. She's appealing the sentence to the Supreme Court and met twice last week with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in connection to the Epstein case, which legal experts have said was highly unusual for the DOJ to agree to.
What People Are Saying
Trump has repeatedly been asked about his interactions with Epstein while on a foreign trip this week and said he kicked the disgraced sex offender out of Mar-a-Lago because Epstein poached his employees: "People were taken out of the spa, hired by Epstein...I told him we don't want you taking our people, whether it's spa or not spa. He did it again, I said out of here."
Clinton's office said in a statement in July 2019, less than a month before Epstein died in his jail cell: "President Clinton knows nothing about the terrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida some years ago, or those with which he has been recently charged in New York. In 2002 and 2003, President Clinton took a total of four trips on Jeffrey Epstein's airplane: one to Europe, one to Asia, and two to Africa, which included stops in connection with the work of the Clinton Foundation. Staff, supporters of the Foundation, and his Secret Service detail traveled on every leg of every trip."
His office told the Journal in response to its story about Clinton's birthday letter to Epstein: "It's been 20 years since President Clinton last had contact with Epstein, well before any of his crimes came to light. President Clinton has never been accused of any wrongdoing. Furthermore, when asked about the release of documents last year by the court, we did not, and do not, object to the unsealing."
What Happens Next
Maxwell was recently subpoenaed to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which her lawyer said she would do if granted immunity. The panel quickly denied Maxwell's request and it remains to be seen how her team will respond.
Trump, meanwhile, has repeatedly castigated the media for asking about his ties to Epstein, saying the public should move on from the story.

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A senior Labrador retriever named Athena has captured hearts among social-media users with a unique mealtime routine that is as adorable as it is unusual. In a viral TikTok video, shared in July by user @ the pup is filmed enjoying her breakfast in a quiet corner of the kitchen like most other pups do, but what has caught internet viewers' attention is what she does while eating. After every single bite of her kibble, Athena lifts her head up to look at her owner and then wiggles her tail at her, as if trying to communicate how grateful she is. "After every bite, she looks at me and wags her tail," the poster says in the clip. "Have you ever seen a dog do this before? I honestly believe she is saying 'thank you for my breakfast mum!' It melts my heart to the core!!" she adds in the caption. The clip quickly went viral on social media, receiving over 252,400 views and more than 45,400 likes on the platform, and most users believed this was the pup's way to express how grateful she is for everything she ha. One user, Lily, commented: "She's a thankful old baby." Carmilla posted: "I got everything I've ever wanted! Mum and food! I'm such a lucky dog!" Dogs know how to show us love and make us feel special, but are they also aware that we love them back? What is the best way to show them love? In a previous article, Newsweek explained that, while dogs and cats show love through behaviors like tail wags or following their humans around, pet owners can express affection in meaningful, nonverbal ways. Spending quality time together is key; playing, walking, training, cuddling, or even exercising together strengthens the bond. Paying attention and providing companionship are what pets value most. Physical gestures such as hugs and kisses may be appreciated by some dogs, but most cats dislike them. Ultimately, the best way to show your pet you love them is to keep them happy and healthy, with regular vet visits and vaccinations, and by providing high-quality, species-appropriate food. Epstein and Maxwell grand juries heard from only 2 witnesses, both law enforcement officials

Advertisement The Justice Department described the grand jury witnesses in response to questions from two judges who would have to approve the release of the transcripts. Grand jury transcripts are rarely released by courts, unless they need to be disclosed in connection with a judicial proceeding. The papers filed Tuesday cite a 1997 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that said judges have wide discretion and public interest alone can justify releasing grand jury information. Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up The Epstein grand jury heard from just one witness, an FBI agent, when it met in June and July 2019, the government disclosed. The Maxwell grand jury heard from the same FBI agent and a New York Police Department detective when it met in June and July 2020 and March 2021, according to the submission. Advertisement The memorandum was signed by Jay Clayton, the interim US attorney for the Southern District of New York, and included the names of Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. Trump supporters want to see the evidence The request to unseal the transcripts came after the Justice Department enraged parts of President Trump's base of supporters when it announced in early July it wouldn't be making public any more investigative files related to Epstein, who was accused of paying underage girls for sexual acts. The decision not to make additional materials public shocked some Trump supporters because members of his administration had hyped the expected release and stoked conspiracies around the well-connected financier. Epstein took his own life in a federal jail in August 2019, weeks after his arrest on sex trafficking charges, but his case has generated endless attention and conspiracy theories because of his and Maxwell's links to famous people, such as royals, presidents and billionaires, including Trump. Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence after her December 2021 conviction on sex trafficking charges that accused her of luring teenage girls to be sexually abused by Epstein. Last week, she sat for 1 1/2 days of interviews with Justice Department officials in Florida, answering questions 'about 100 different people,' her attorney said. Maxwell was being interviewed because of Trump's directive to gather and release any credible evidence about others who may have committed crimes, the deputy attorney general said. Trump keeps being questioned about Epstein Trump has denied prior knowledge of Epstein's crimes and claimed he had cut off their relationship long ago. But he faces ongoing questions about the Epstein case, overshadowing his administration's achievements. When reporters last week pressed the Republican president about possibly pardoning Maxwell, he deflected, emphasizing his administration's successes. Advertisement After the request to unseal grand jury records, two former prosecutors in Manhattan told The Associated Press the transcripts would be relatively short and contain only the testimony of law enforcement witnesses talking about evidence that tracks information in the indictments. The court memorandum filed Tuesday said many of the victims whose accounts of being exploited by Epstein and Maxwell were discussed before the grand jury by the FBI agent and the NYPD detective later testified at Maxwell's public trial. 'Increasing calls for additional disclosures' The government said no Epstein or Maxwell family members have come forward to express an interest in the request to unseal the grand jury transcripts, although Maxwell has indicated she will file a position with the court. The memorandum says the request to unseal the transcripts is 'consistent with increasing calls for additional disclosures in this matter.' 'There is undoubtedly a clearly expressed interest from the public in Jeffrey Epstein's and Ghislaine Maxwell's crimes,' it says. 'Beyond that, there is abundant public interest in the investigative work conducted by the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation into those crimes.' Under a 2008 nonprosecution agreement, Epstein pleaded guilty in Florida to state charges of soliciting and procuring a minor for prostitution. That allowed him to avert a possible life sentence, instead serving 13 months in a work release program. He was required to make payments to victims and register as a sex offender. Epstein was later charged by federal prosecutors in Manhattan for nearly identical allegations in 2019.

Pregnant Woman Films Dog Cuddling Her Bump—Tears Over What Follows

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A viral video has showcased the unique bond between expectant mothers and their pets. In an Instagram reel, what started as a serene cuddle session between a dog and its owner quickly became a funny surprise, leaving viewers both laughing and tearing up at the canine's bewildered reaction. Since the clip was posted, it has received over 577,000 likes. The video shows a dog's head peacefully resting on its owner's pregnant belly. "Just vibing … until the baby kicks," the owner captioned the video. Suddenly, the baby delivers what seems to be a distinct kick, causing the dog's eyes to come open in confusion. The dog's startled reaction delighted Instagram users, who filled the comments with interpretations of the scene. "'Not to panic anyone BUT THERE ARE MOVEMENTS! EVERYBODY STAY CALM!'" one person imagined the dog's inner dialogue, while another wrote: "'Your stomach just kicked me in the face.'" Others shared their own pets' responses to fetal movements. "My dog just laid there unfazed getting kicked upside the head," one person posted. "My dog doesn't react when his head bounces … I think he thinks I'm just fat and trying to breathe," another shared. Stock image: A small dog touches its owner's pregnant belly. Stock image: A small dog touches its owner's pregnant Dogs Sense Pregnancy? The dog's evident surprise raises questions about how much animals truly understand about pregnancy. The American Kennel Club (AKC) explored this phenomenon in a blog post, highlighting dogs' incredible sense of smell. "One of the amazing things about dogs is their noses. They have the ability to detect and remember scents, long after they're exposed to the original odor," the post said. When a person is pregnant, hormonal shifts can alter their scent—leading many to believe dogs can detect changes even before humans do. "I suspect that dogs can smell something we cannot," Dr. Ann Hohenhaus, senior veterinarian and director of pet health information at the Animal Medical Center of New York City, said, as quoted by the AKC. Hohenhaus added that dogs possess "60 times as many smell receptors as humans, and 40 times as much brain power dedicated to smell." These advanced capabilities allow canines to pick up on subtle "chemical changes" in the body, which can include those related to pregnancy. While they likely can't understand the reason for the changes, they do understand something is different. Dr. Rachel Barrack, doctor of veterinary medicine and owner of Animal Acupuncture in New York City, suggested to the AKC that dogs are smart enough not only to pick up on these changes in a chemical and physical way, but also in an emotional way based on your moods and feelings.
