The same can't be said for the team's European exploits, though, as the Light Blues have now seen off Panathinaikos and Viktoria Plzen to progress to the play-off - their third and final qualifier for the competition.
Rangers were in the driving seat for the second leg in Czech Republic after beating Plzen 3-0 at Ibrox last week.
And they got the job done tonight away from home - despite losing on the night.
Plzen opened the scoring in the first leg through Rafiu Durosinmi and pressure was beginning to mount on the visitors in the second half - until Lyall Cameron found the net on the hour mark.
The former Dundee man scored his first goal for the club - and what a time it was to get off the mark as he eased Rangers' nerves.
The hosts then scored again to put themselves back in front through Svetozar Markovic with less than 10 minutes left to play, but didn't have enough time to turn the tie around.
That meant it was Rangers who progressed as they move one step closer to reaching the league phase.
Rangers were already aware that they'd face one of two teams in the play-off after the draw was made earlier this month.
It was decided that the Light Blues would face a tricky tie either way against Club Brugge or Red Bull Salzburg.
It was always going to be a tough clash, but they avoided arguably the trickiest outcome - with Benfica a potential option for the Govan side.
When Ross McCausland knew it was time to leave Rangers and why he's been blown away by his REPLACEMENTS
Now Rangers have discovered exactly who they'll face in the next round.
Martin's men will travel to Belgium later this month after Club Brugge got the better of Red Bull Salzburg over two legs.
Club Brugge were the favourites to progress after they beat Salzburg 1-0 in the first leg away from home.
But it was the Austrian side who took the driving seat in the return leg as they raced two goals in front in the first half.
Goals from Jacob Rasmussen and Edmund Baidoo gave them the lead in the tie - until Brugge pulled it back in the second half.
The hosts on the night came on top in the end with a 4-2 aggregate win after Joaquin Seys, Carlos Forbs and Hans Vanaken found the net.
The first leg will be played at Ibrox on Tuesday, August 19, with the return leg scheduled for the following Wednesday, August 27 in Belgium.

Rangers warned Club Brugge could dish out Champions League 'pasting' as ex Ibrox man points to one worrying issue
Russell Martin's side have conceded over 100 shots on goal in their six games this season Rangers' deficiencies at the back could see their Champions League ambitions get ended in devastating style against Club Brugge, according to one former Ibrox defender. Despite their 3-0 advantage from the first leg, Russell Martin 's men had a nervy night in the Czech Republic on Tuesday night, falling to a 2-1 defeat, and were it not for keeper Jack Butland, things would have got a lot more close for comfort. The Light Blues have had over 100 shots against them in six matches in all competitions, with both of their clean sheets coming at home in the Champions League. Gers already trail Celtic in the Premiership by four points after drawing their first two games and in the view of ex full back Richard Foster - they could be on the end of a hiding by Belgian outfit Brugge that will consign them to the Europa League for another season. Speaking on GO Radio, he said: "I think they could get a pasting. "If you give a team of the quality of Brugge those kind of chances, they'll score four of them. "That then puts a whole different dynamic on the way Rangers are playing under Russell Martin. "Against Panathinaikos I felt they gave up too many opportunities and had to rely on Jack Butland, which is fine as he's a goalkeeper and it's his job to make saves. "But at some point, some teams are going to score more of those chances than miss. "Rangers could be on the end of a pasting and that's why I think they will struggle against Brugge." Boss Martin admitted in the wake of their progression in Plzen that his side needs to up their game if they want to get past the final qualification hurdle. He stated: "If we don't show a bit more care and quality on the ball, I think we will struggle against anyone. "I'm disappointed we lost and I'm disappointed with how many chances we gave up. I think so much of it comes from just being so loose with the ball. "We were playing against a team who had nothing to lose, who really committed so many numbers, four on the top line, with a heavy press. "We played through the press a lot in the first half, got into their final third a lot, then just turned the ball over."

Brendan Rodgers says what every Celtic fan thinks as Champions League playoff fate confirmed
The Parkhead boss reacted to the Hoops landing a trip to Kazakhstan to face Kairat Almaty Brendan Rodgers admits Celtic's gruelling 13-hour trek to Kazakhstan is far from ideal. The Hoops have been paired with Kairat Almaty for a place in the Champions League group stages. Celts host the Kazakh cracks at Parkhead next Wednesday before an exhausting 9,000-mile round-trip to Almaty the following Tuesday - five days before the first derby of the season at Ibrox. And Rodgers confessed he'd have preferred a short hop to Slovakia to play old foes Slovan Bratislava, who lost out to Kairat on penalties. He told Celtic TV: 'Of course, everyone would have preferred a shorter travelling distance, but they got through, they won the tie, so we'll play the first game of our two legs and our objective is to get through. 'We can really analyse them now and be prepared for the first leg next week." Celtic last faced Kazakhstan Premier League opposition when they survived a nervy fightback against Astana in 2017. The Hoops almost blew a 5-0 home lead by falling 4-1 behind in the Kazakh capital before two late goals settled the nerves. The Scottish champions eventually progressed 8-4 on aggregate but Rodgers recalled it was far from straightforward. He said: "No, it wasn't. It should never have been the case, but it's how football works. "Yeah, 5-0 in the first leg, we were very good. At half-time in the second leg, I think it was 6-1, it was one each at half-time. "So you're in a really good place and then before you know it, you've conceded three quick goals and then the tie's at 6-4. "So we'll do everything we can to make sure we get into the group stages." Skipper Callum McGregor played that night and experience tells him it's crucial Celtic make home advantage count next week. He said: 'It's going to be a tough tie. Obviously the travel and everything else comes into that and the preparation. 'We've got the home game first, and we want to try and maximise that, as we would against any opponent. "But it could be even more important now that we try and do the absolute maximum to get a good result at home, and then negotiate the travel. 'It's a tough team and we know it will be a tough tie. It's a good tie for us but one that we'll have to be at our best to get through. "The travel and everything else that presents, it will be a tough tie, no doubt about it. "So we'll have to go there. Hopefully, we have a lead from the first game, but we have to look after that first and foremost and then over the two legs, can we do enough to get through?"

THE Super Cup will take place TONIGHT as two European champions go head-to-head in Italy. Champions League winners PSG were the most impressive side in Europe last season, and they are looking to add another trophy to their collection. Luis Enrique's side will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final. Spurs ended their 17-year wait for a major trophy by beating Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final back in May. Now, Thomas Frank has the chance to claim silverware in his first competitive match as Tottenham boss. 2 minutes ago By Connor Greaves Good evening and welcome to SunSport's live blog of the Super Cup! Daniel Levy sacked Ange Postecoglou just 16 days after the North London outfit triumphed in Bilbao and replaced him with Brentford boss Thomas Frank. The Dane could claim silverware in his first competitive match at the helm as Spurs eye a second European trophy in less than three months.
