Not Rupali Ganguly or Dilip Joshi, Smriti Irani is TV's highest-paid actor with Rs 14 lakh per episode for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2
Smriti Irani is back to acting with the second season of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The actress was reported to be charging a hefty payment of Rs 14 lakh per episode, becoming the highest-paid TV actor in India. Reacting to the reports, Smriti Irani herself has confirmed such remuneration. Smriti Irani confirms becoming highest paid actor on small screen In a latest chat with CNN News18, Smriti Irani admitted that she is getting the record-breaking-paycheck while highlighting how she earned it with a lot of hard work and delivering on TRP numbers. The actress said, 'You also set that benchmark as a professional to say that if you deliver on history on numbers and revenue, why not? Because not everybody who's watching us knows we get to negotiate our contracts as employees.' Smriti Irani proudly said that not only pay-parity, she has beaten the boys and girls. 'I'm a part of a union, so the first thing I do is actually have my union number registered. We all are part of a larger organisation and flow of work. For one person to stand up and say "listen, not only pay parity, I beat the boys and the girls and how much I make that is a lot of hard work," she added. Smriti Irani, who is playing the lead role of Tulsi Virani in Kyonki, further underlined that she is capable of making stars out of others who are working with her. She said, 'The idea is, are you truly the star or do you have the professional capacity to make stars around you? I think that I have actually, mercifully, had the capacity of making stars out of others who are with me. If there is a Tulsi, then Amar Upadhyay quintessentially creates his own market. So do you become that pivot, that sounding board, that other actors then can enhance their economic value? That I have managed to do through the project, so my co-stars today can say, 'Oh, we are a part of that.'' Smriti Irani beats contemporaries Rupaly Ganguly, Dilip Joshi and Hina Khan For the unversed, Smriti Irani has surpassed Rupali Ganguly, Dilip Joshi, and Hina Khan's remunerations to emerge as the highest paid actor on the small screen. While Ganguly charges around Rs 3 lakh per episode for Anupama, Dilip Joshi and Hina Khan charge around Rs 1.5-2 lakh per episode. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

Coolie North America Premiere Advance Bookings: Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj's movie crosses an INSANE USD 1.4 million, 6 days out
Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and starring Rajinikanth has been seeing a thunderous response for premieres in North America. The film's units have landed superbly well, and the movie is gearing up for historic numbers. While it is sure to register the highest collections in premieres from North America for a Kollywood film, it is also challenging the biggest Indian movies like Kalki 2898AD, RRR and Baahubali 2. Coolie Approaches USD 1.5 Million At The North America Box Office, 6 Days Before The 1st Show As per tracking data provided by 'Venky Box Office', Coolie had crossed USD 1.4 million in North America and stands at USD 1.42 million, at the end of the 7th of August, 2025. As you read this, Coolie may have crossed the USD 1.5 million mark in North America for the premieres alone; And that is 5 days before the film's first show. The raging response to the film's trailer is one of the many reasons for the excellent speed of ticket sales. If the trailer didn't land, the speed of bookings would have considerably gone down. Coolie's premiere collections shall be over 2 million and combined with the opening day, it could be USD 3 million or more. This is despite releasing alongside a biggie like War 2. If the film gets a good theatrical reception, it will emerge as the highest grossing Kollywood film in North America, even before the end of the extended weekend. The Global Day 1 Collections Of Coolie Are Expected To Be In The Rs 135-150 Crore Vicinity The day 1 global collections of Coolie shall be well over Rs 100 crore. Early tracking suggests a day 1 of around Rs 135-150 crore gross. These are mind-numbing numbers. Superstar Rajinikanth is flaunting his star power like no body else at the age of close to 75 years. This is his 50th year in films and Lokesh Kanagaraj has made sure that the golden jubilee celebrations are historic. Rajinikanth And Lokesh Kanagaraj Are Booked And Busy Superstar Rajinikanth is already shooting for his next, Jailer 2, and that movie should also celebrate the mega moviestar in all of his glory. As for Lokesh Kanagaraj, his busy line-up of films includes Kaithi 2 and a superhero film with Aamir Khan. There are talks that he will also be working on Rolex and Vikram 2 after getting done with his prior commitments. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

Sunny Deol's Border 2 movie teaser release: Will Diljit Dosanjh feature in it amid casting controversy?
Sunny Deol returns as Major Kuldip Singh in Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh. He stars alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. The Republic Day 2026 release is all set for a teaser for the fans. The film's shooting is finished. On August 15, a one-minute announcement video featuring Sunny Deol will be launched. The movie highlights the India–Pakistan rivalry. The teaser will be released online and shown in cinemas during Independence Day weekend. It will also play before War 2 across major multiplex chains. The producers have partnered with cinema chains to ensure the teaser's wide screening. 'Anurag Singh has cut a 1-minute announcement video with Sunny Deol, which encapsulates the India–Pakistan rivalry and the spirit of Border 2. With the teaser, the makers plan to reannounce and confirm the Republic Day 2026 release date. The announcement teaser drops on August 15, 2025,' a source told Pinkvilla. 'The producers have done a back-end deal with the national multiplex chains to screen the Border 2 teaser with War 2, and everyone has willingly agreed to do the same,' the source added. Diljit Dosanjh plays Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, an Air Force officer who got the Param Vir Chakra after becoming a martyr while defending Srinagar Air Base in the 1971 war. Some people raised questions about his casting because of his collaboration with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. They felt he was not the right choice for a patriotic film. After the Pahalgam terror attack, the Pakistani actress criticised India's military actions, which made things worse. The producers said it was shot before tensions rose, but the outrage continued. The film was released only overseas. However, the makers of Border 2 got permission to release the film since no Pakistani actor was involved. T-Series told the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) that the shoot was almost complete. Only two or three days of Diljit's shoot remained. Ashoke Pandit from the Directors' Association said re-shooting with another actor would delay the film and cause losses. However, he added that new films with Diljit would be banned, especially if his role can be replaced. It will be interesting to see if Border 2 makers will feature Diljit Dosanjh in the teaser amid controversy. We'll find out in a week's time.
