The Bollywood actor, during the teaser launch of KD – The Devil, had said that while he loved working with Thalapathy Vijay, he was angry with Lokesh for not giving him a bigger role in the 2023 action Kanagaraj, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, shared his side of the story. 'Sanjay sir actually called me after that event. He said to me, 'I made a very funny comment, but it got awkward after people cut it and put it on social media.' I just said, No problem, sir,' the director Clarifying that he does not deliberately sideline characters, Kanagaraj said, 'See, I'm not a genius or a great filmmaker who wouldn't write stories that overshadow other characters. I have made so many mistakes in my films, and I'm still learning.' The filmmaker also hinted at a future collaboration with Dutt. During the event in Chennai, Sanjay Dutt spoke about his bond with South stalwarts Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. He said, 'I respect Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, they are my seniors. I look up to them and learn from them. I have worked with Rajinikanth in multiple movies. He is the most humble person. I also loved working with Thalapathy Vijay." He then went on to talk about working in Leo with Thalapathy Vijay, where he played the role of Leo's father, Antony Das. He added, 'I am angry at Lokesh because he did not give me a big role. Sanjay Dutt has not one but two South films in the pipeline. Sharing his experience of working in the South Indian film industry, Sanjay told TOI, 'It's a great place to be in." He then explained, 'Their sensibility of cinema is what we have had all our lives – to cater to the masses, to enhance the hero on screen and to do all that which I think Bollywood has forgotten to do now." He mentioned that he loved shooting with the South filmmakers because they were passionate about making films. He hoped that the passion for making films would come back to Bollywood. Sanjay Dutt was recently seen in two films – first in The Bhootnii, a horror-comedy written and directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, and then as a police officer in Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5.
