Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Is Getting An All New Multiplayer Mode Over 20 Years Later

Yahoo2 days ago

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater isn't just a 4K remake of the original PlayStation 2 game, it turns out. The Unreal Engine 5 upgrade of MSG 3 is also getting some entirely new content, including a multiplayer mode called Fox Hunt.
Revealed during a Konami Press Start showcase on Thursday, Fox Hunt takes place online in the same world as the single-player story but with different gameplay. Mode director Yu Sahara, who's worked on Metal Gear in the past, distinguished it from Metal Gear Online, a multiplayer spin-off of Metal Gear Solid 4 that featured tactical stealth takes on traditional scenarios like team deathmatch and capture the flag.
'The landscape of multiplayer games has changed a lot,' he said during the livestream. Indeed it has, but the most appealing about Metal Gear getting multiplayer again is how old-school it might end up feeling compared to the current glut of extraction shooters, battle royales, and battle passes. Here's a quick teaser from the showcase:
Instead of bringing that back, Sahara and the team at Konami worked on updating what Metal Gear Online might look like decades later. The focus will still be on camouflage and staying hidden before choosing the right time to go after an objective or surprise an opponent, and footage in a brief teaser showed characters getting into what look like small D-Walker-type mechs on the battlefield. Also lots of operatives crawling around in leaf shrouds.
Konami didn't have anything else to reveal about the mode other than it will be arriving with the rest of Metal Gear Solid Delta at launch on August 28. In addition to Fox Hunt, the remake also features a Snake vs. Bomberman mode and one where he has to round-up monkeys from Ape Escape. Despite the new content, however, much of the base game appears to be an exceedingly faithful retread of the 2000s-era stealth thriller, just with modern controls and other tweaks to make it more approachable for new audiences. The original is still available to play as part of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection released back in 2023.

Konami Stock (9766) Jumps on Silent Hill Remake Announcement

Konami (JP:9766) stock jumped on Friday after the video game company announced a remake of Silent Hill, the first title in its long-running horror game series. This remake will be handled by Bloober Team, the development studio behind the 2024 remake of Silent Hill 2. Additionally, NeoBards Entertainment is working on a new entry in the series, titled Silent Hill f, set to be released on Sept. 25, 2025. Confident Investing Starts Here: Konami didn't reveal much in the way of details about its Silent Hill remake. However, it could be a huge success for the company if it follows in the footsteps of the Silent Hill 2 remake. The video game developer is taking a page out of Capcom's (CCOEF) book, which has attracted gamers with its remakes of Resident Evil games. It makes sense that Konami would want to cash in on the recent success Capcom has seen, and Silent Hill is the perfect way to do it. Both Silent Hill and Resident Evil started on Sony's (SONY) original PlayStation back in the 90s and spawned a large collection of sequels and spinoffs. If there's any series out there that can rival Resident Evil, it's Silent Hill. Konami Stock Movement Today Investors appear pleased with Konami's plans to remake Silent Hill. Shares of 9766 jumped 2.52% on the news alongside a trading volume that was roughly double the company's three-month daily average. The recent rally also extended positive 2025 movement for Konami, with shares up 39.36% year-to-date. Is Konami Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold? Turning to Wall Street, the analysts' consensus rating for Konami is Strong Buy, based on four Buy and a single Hold rating over the past three months. With that comes an average 9766 price target of ¥20,168, representing a potential 1.74% downside for the shares.

Konami Confirms SILENT HILL 1 Remake with Bloober Team — GeekTyrant

Konami isn't done resurrecting Silent Hill projects. During their latest Press Start showcase, the publisher officially confirmed that the original Silent Hill (1999) is getting a full remake, and the team behind the recent Silent Hill 2 remake, Bloober Team, is developing the game. The reveal came via a brief but haunting teaser, with music pulled straight from the original game, a nod to longtime fans who know exactly what that tune signals. Originally released in 1999, Silent Hill introduced players to Harry Mason, a father searching for his missing adopted daughter, Cheryl, in the fog-drenched, cult-riddled town of Silent Hill. What starts as a desperate search slowly unravels into something far more disturbing, as Harry is pulled into a world of occult rituals and psychological horror. I stayed up all night with a friend of mine playing this game, and it scared the hell out of us, and it was one of my most memorable gaming experiences. The game was the foundation for what would become one of gaming's most iconic horror franchises, and while Silent Hill 2 tends to get all the critical love, the original game's eerie storytelling and dread-soaked design laid the groundwork. It makes sense that Konami and Bloober would want to bring new players back to where it all started—especially if the plan is to revisit Silent Hill 3 , which is directly tied to the first game's narrative. While the announcement didn't include a release date, the renewed partnership between Bloober Team and Konami seems to signal a long-term investment in Silent Hill's legacy. As for what's coming next, Silent Hill f is still on track for release on September 25, 2025. That standalone entry follows Shimizu Hinako as she fights off horrifying creatures in a twisted version of the fictional Japanese town Ebisugaoka. It promises a very different flavor of horror, but with the same mind-bending atmosphere the franchise is known for. Watch the trailer below. It starts at the 35:26 timestamp.
