Coldplay star reportedly splits from actress AGAIN
Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have reportedly called off their eight year on and off again relationship for the second time.
The Coldplay singer and Fifty Shades of Grey star have been dating since 2017 and sparked engagement rumours during 2020, but break-up rumours swirled in 2024.
However, despite the pair being spotted in Malibu together on May 16, a source told People the alleged split this time round was it.
'It feels final this time,' the insider told the publication.
In March 2024, a source told the outlet that Johnson and Martin had been engaged for 'years' after first sparking engagement rumours in 2020, though they were 'in no rush to get married' at the time.
When fans thought the pair had broken up in August, Johnson's representative denied the gossip by saying they were 'happily together'.
About the same time, a source said: 'Sure, they've had issues and taken breaks in the past but things are great now.
'They both love their careers. They are balancing things the best they can.'
The Materialists actress previously spoke about being in the lives of Martin's two kids with his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, son Moses and daughter Apple, now 19 and 21, respectively.
'I love those kids like my life depends on it,' Johnson told Bustle. 'With all my heart.'
She also told the outlet she was a big fan of watching Martin perform.
'I don't know. I love watching him,' she said.
'I could watch him every day. I don't know how to explain it. I feel like I don't know ... I'm watching my most favourite being do his most favourite thing.'
In January, the pair held hands in India, where Martin was touring with his band. Chris Martin performs at Optus Stadium on November 18, 2023, in Perth. Credit: Matt Jelonek / WireImage,
Johnson can be seen in upcoming romance movie Materialists, out June 13, alongside Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times about the film on Wednesday, Johnson offered her opinion on people judging relationships.
'For a long time we've all been so quick to judge relationships or how they should happen, how they should exist in the world,' she said.
'When people should get married. Divorce is bad. All these things that actually, if you think about it, why is divorce bad?'
'Why do people have to get married or at a certain age or only once? Why? It doesn't matter.'

Dakota Johnson sent gorilla poop to friend's ex
Dakota Johnson sent gorilla poop to a friend's ex-boyfriend. The Materialists actress admitted she sought out an unusual way of getting revenge on the mystery man when her unnamed pal was left with a broken heart. In a lie detector test with Vanity Fair magazine, the 35-year-old star was quizzed about her loyalty and admitted she would lie to police about her "lifelong" friend Riley Keough's alibi if need be. She was then asked to confirm whether or not she 'once sent a man who broke your friend's heart a gallon of gorilla s***.' She admitted: 'I mean, there's no way that he would watch this, so, yes, I did do that... 'And it's been quite a while. It's been some years.' The interrogator then asked: 'How would one order something like that? Asking for a friend." Dakota explained she had visited S*** She added: 'You can order any kind, any size." The polygraph administrator confirmed the Madame Web star was telling the truth. Dakota laughed when she was asked if she also knew how to 'order pubic crabs online,' but denied it was something she'd ever do. She said: 'No! Good Lord, I'm not a monster." Towards the end of the lie detector test, Dakota confirmed she hadn't told the truth throughout the 12-minute segment but her fibs had gone undetected. She laughed: "I'm a psychopath." Asked which questions she lied about, she said: "I'll never tell". The Splitsville actress previously admitted she is "very defiant" and doesn't like rules. She told Bustle: "I am a very defiant person. If somebody tells me I can't do something, I am shaking, even if I had no interest in doing that thing." Asked if she was like that as a child, Dakota replied: "Yeah. I think I just find rules and some structure really ridiculous, silly and stupid." Dakota will always "accept and accommodate everyone's feelings". But ultimately, she wants to follow her own instincts. She shared: "I've always been the kind of person who's going to do what I want to do. "I will accept and accommodate everyone's feelings and ideas and thoughts. But as long as I'm not hurting another human being in some way - even with my work, with agents or managers or whomever - I'll listen to everyone and take everything very seriously and then I will do what feels really right to me."

Dakota Johnson slams lack of creativity on Madame Web
Dakota Johnson has blamed a lack of creativity for Madame Web's poor performance. The 35-year-old actress starred in the 2024 superhero film as Cassie Web, a paramedic who develops psychic abilities following an accident, but it was a failure critically and commercially, and Dakota has insisted it wasn't her fault as she suggested the movie had "turned into something else" after she signed up for the project. She told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: 'It wasn't my fault. There's this thing that happens now where a lot of creative decisions are made by committee. Or made by people who don't have a creative bone in their body. And it's really hard to make art that way. Or to make something entertaining that way. 'And I think unfortunately with Madame Web, it started out as something and turned into something else. And I was just sort of along for the ride at that point. But that happens. Bigger-budget movies fail all the time.' Dakota insisted she doesn't "have a Band-Aid over it" and isn't too worried about the experience. She said: 'There's no part of me that's like, 'Oh, I'll never do that again' to anything. I've done even tiny movies that didn't do well. Who cares?' Dakota previously suggested she wouldn't make another superhero film following her experience on Madame Web. She told Bustle: 'I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again because I don't make sense in that world. And I know that now. 'Sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it's one thing and then as you're making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you're like, 'Wait, what?' "But it was a real learning experience, and of course it's not nice to be a part of something that's ripped to shreds, but I can't say that I don't understand.' The Fifty Shades of Grey actress recently slammed film bosses for no longer wanting to make 'risky' projects. Speaking during a Kering Women in Motion Talk in Cannes, where she appeared alongside her producing partner Ro Donnelly ahead of the premiere of their dark new film Splitsville, she said: 'Some professionals who run studios don't feel the desire to make things that are different or risky or scary or dangerous or raw and real and human and messy.'

On Monday's episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Johnson — who was wearing a black mini-dress with a plunging neckline — instantly regretted her decision. 'Oh God,' said Johnson, who was promoting her new film The Materialists. 'This is the wrong outfit.' 'No, no. I think it's perfect, you look great,' Fallon said. 'Just don't move.' 'My eyes are up here,' she joked. A dazed and confused Fallon playfully looked up to the ceiling and said, 'I don't know what to do. I'm confused.' After the TV host redirected the conversation, Johnson was still concerned about the possible malfunction. 'Tell me if there's a problem,' she said. 'Right now, there's not a problem,' Fallon quipped. 'There's almost a problem, but not quite — it's just … everything is going according to plan.' 'Does anyone have like, a blanket I could wear?' Johnson asked. Johnson was worried about falling out of her dress. Photo: YouTube That'll do it! Photo: YouTube Jimmy Fallon is nothing if not a problem solver. 'Dakota, your dress just came unhooked,' Kimmel said to Johnson, who tried to maintain her poise as she clutched the detached metal strap of her black dress. 'Should I get some scotch tape?' Kimmel inquired. 'My dress just – it just fell off,' Johnson said, astounded, but with a smile on her face. 'It seems to be hanging in all right?' Kimmel countered. 'Well, I'll just hold it,' Johnson said, continuing the conversation in stride. 'Just hold the important part,' Kimmel joked. Johnson cheekily placed her hands on her chest, much to the amusement of the audience. 'The movie is really good,' she noted.
