Embraer to showcase KC-390 Millennium at LIMA 2025
Embraer Defence and Security president and CEO Bosco da Costa Junior said the KC-390 is a new generation military airlift with multi-mission capability, interoperability, reliability, low life-cycle cost, and high performance at its core.
'Embraer is proud to bring the KC-390 to LIMA 2025. The aircraft is gaining traction around the world, and we look forward to expanding our footprint in the Asia Pacific region,' he said in a statement today.
According to the statement, the KC-390 is a new generation multi-mission aircraft designed and built to take on the demands of the 21st-century operating environment.
'The aircraft is the most advanced in its class and flies faster (470kts) and further on a standard crew duty day. It also carries more cargo (26 tonnes) compared to other medium-sized military cargo aircraft and is powered by IAE V2500 engines,' it said.
Capable of performing reliably in Southeast Asia's diverse terrains and climate, the KC-390 can operate on temporary or unpaved runways, including packed earth, soil and gravel and in conditions ranging from humid to hot and high or cold and dry.
'It can perform a wide range of missions such as transporting and dropping cargo and troops, medical evacuation, search and rescue, humanitarian missions, firefighting and air-to-air refuelling both as a tanker and a receiver,' it said.
Embraer's KC-390 is also equipped with a modern and comprehensive suite of sensors and communication equipment that support vital connectivity between aircraft, operational commands, and troops on the ground.
'Additionally, KC-390's robust integrated electronic warfare and self-protection system drive survivability.
'The aircraft has achieved an outstanding mission accomplishment rate of 99 per cent with low operational costs. Its multi-mission capability and interoperability are built-in by design, enabling the aircraft to be ready for all mission profiles by Air Forces,' it added.

RM294mil MMEA vessel to arrive in Malaysia by early 2027
KUANTAN: The construction of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency's (MMEA) Turkish-made Multi-Purpose Mission Ship (MPMS) is progressing ahead of schedule and is expected to be completed earlier than anticipated. MMEA director-general Admiral Datuk Mohd Rosli Abdullah said the MPMS, which will serve as a mother ship, is scheduled to arrive in Malaysia by early 2027. "Construction began in March this year and had reached 17 percent completion by June, which is about two percent ahead of schedule. The 24-month construction timeline is progressing well, and we anticipate completing the vessel ahead of the original deadline. "If it arrives before the Lima exhibition (Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition) in 2027, there are plans to showcase the ship at the event," he told reporters after launching MMEA's Sekolah Angkat Madani initiative at SMK Sungai Baging here today. Rosli said the 99-metre-long vessel, which can accommodate 70 crew members and 30 passengers, will be deployed to enhance maritime security and uphold Malaysia's sovereignty in the South China Sea. The ship, capable of operating at sea for up to 30 days without resupply, is currently being built by Istanbul-based Desan Shipyard. MPMS which includes four fast interceptor craft, two unmanned aerial vehicles, a helideck, medical facilities, and a detention centre is built with a cost of RM294 million.

Malaysia to receive ANKA MALE-UAS drones by March 2026
ISTANBUL: Malaysia is set to receive the Turkish-developed ANKA Medium Altitude Long Endurance-Unmanned Aerial System (MALE-UAS) by March 2026, according to Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. The drones, produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), are undergoing radar system integration and radio communication installation, with components sourced from Germany. Mohamed Khaled confirmed that Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) personnel are currently training with the supplier to operate the ANKA drones. 'When we acquire assets like this, operational training is also provided by the supplying company,' he told reporters during his visit to Turkiye. The Defence Ministry signed a contract with TAI in May 2023 during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) for three ANKA MALE-UAS units and related support equipment. Malaysia is expected to receive the ANKA-S variant, which can operate at altitudes of up to 30,000 feet for 24 to 30 hours and carry payloads between 250 to 350 kilogrammes. Beyond intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) roles, the ANKA drones can be armed with four MAM Smart Micro Missiles, developed by Turkish defence firm ROKETSAN, for precision ground-attack missions. Mohamed Khaled also inspected the construction of three Littoral Mission Ships (LMS) by Savunma Teknolojileri Muhendislik (STM) during his visit to the 2025 International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF). Iran Values Ties With Malaysia, Seeks To Expand Cooperation

Iranian Ambassador to Malaysia Valiollah Mohammadi Nasrabadi said ties between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur have remained strong despite Iran having been under sanctions for 45 years. bootstrap slideshow 'Our relation and cooperation (with Malaysia) are good and of course, among the best that we have. But in terms of the economic cooperation, both countries are trying our best to expand the relationship,' he told Bernama in an interview here, Wednesday. He said Iran participated in the Defence Services Asia (DSA) and National Security Asia (NATSEC) exhibition held here last year, along with the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) last May. He said both countries can deepen their trade ties in the agriculture sector. 'We have a lot of products that maybe Malaysia can import, such as fruit. At the same time, we import many products from Malaysia, including palm oil and cocoa. 'We are good friends so, we must work together and try to achieve good outcome,' he said.
