"Agri production increased by 40 per cent in last 10 years": Shivraj Singh Chouhan celebrates 11 years of Modi Govt

India Gazettea day ago

Rangareddy (Telangana) [India], June 9 (ANI): Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday marked a significant milestone - 11 years of the Modi government - by highlighting the administration's achievements in the agricultural sector.
Speaking in Rangareddy, Telangana, Chouhan emphasised the impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision and policies on agriculture.
'Today is a historic day,' the Union minister said, adding, 'Our government has completed one year of its third term. This year was full of accomplishments.'
Chouhan pointed out that the agricultural growth rate stood at 5.4% in Q4, reflecting the government's focus on the sector. He credited Modi's leadership for the increase in foodgrain production, stating that grain storages are full and agricultural production has risen by 40% over the last decade.
'From the point of view of agriculture, it is a result of PM Narendra Modi's vision, policies, and programs. In Q4, the agriculture growth rate was 5.4 per cent... I want to congratulate PM Narendra Modi, our grain storages are full. We have set new records in the production of foodgrains. In the last 10 years, we have increased our agricultural production by 40 per cent...,' the minister remarked.
Chouhan also highlighted the government's efforts to promote millets, which are considered superfoods. He mentioned the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Shri Ann Global Centre of Excellence, aimed at furthering millet production and consumption.
While speaking with the media personnel, Chouhan said, 'We have laid the foundation stone of Shri Ann Global Centre of Excellence. We all know the importance of millets, which are superfoods... PM Narendra Modi took an initiative to promote the farming and consumption of millets in the world...'
Earlier on Sunday, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan participated in the One Nation One Election campaign in Bengaluru, Karnataka, emphasising the need for simultaneous elections in India.Chouhan argued that the current system of frequent elections leads to a significant waste of resources and energy, highlighting that the constant election cycle diverts a major part of the nation's energy and resources, which could be better utilised for long-term development goals.
He stressed that holding Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections together would enable policymakers to focus on policy-driven decisions rather than being preoccupied with election preparations.
The One Nation One Election campaign aims to raise awareness and build consensus on simultaneous elections nationwide. The campaign's proponents argue that simultaneous elections would reduce the strain on the electoral machinery, minimise disruptions to governance, and promote more focused and sustained policy implementation. ‘More AC trains in Mumbai without increase in fares'

Mumbai: More AC trains will be introduced on Mumbai's suburban railway network without increasing fares, said CM Devendra Fadnavis in the aftermath of the CR accident in Mumbra. At a presser on Tuesday, Fadnavis said he had a 45-minute interaction with Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on the need to further improve the suburban train system. Admitting there is a load on the suburban network, Fadnavis said, "This is going to be there till all metro lines are completed." He said in 11 years, the Modi govt has invested in a big way in railway infrastructure, whether it is passenger amenities, new signalling systems, widening of platforms or laying railway lines. However, it is true that during peak hours, carrying capacity is inadequate and needs to be further strengthened, he said. "Our railway minister has said existing trains will be retrofitted so doors close, as such instances are more because doors do not close. Yesterday's accident was unfortunate. The railway minister told me additional trains will be introduced on suburban routes with more AC trains. If automatic doors are installed (in non-AC trains), govt will take care of ventilation. AC trains will be introduced without increasing fares," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Consigue audifonos de alta calidad sin gastar ni un solo centavo Top Audifonos Undo On BMC elections Fadnavis said, "Who will form an alliance with whom, one cannot tell now. One thing is clear: Mumbaikars will stand with Mahayuti, and it will win BMC elections. Mumbai's mayor will be from Mahayuti." On BEST The CM said, "Under no circumstances will BEST be shut. We will strengthen it. BEST has placed an order for 5,000 new buses. Once these are delivered, BEST will function more efficiently. We have drafted the UMTA (Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority) law, whereby we will bring all public transport under one umbrella. Today we launched the common card, and the trial is on, which is successful. If BEST is not strengthened, neither the metros nor suburban railway can work efficiently. " On ending Naxalism "Highly effective work has been done under the Modi govt on ending the Naxal movement. Union home minister Amit Shah has promised to end Naxalism by March 2026. Active Naxalism will be ended. In 10 years, good work has been done in Maharashtra against Naxals and Maoists, but five years of Congress govt in Chhattisgarh led to an increase in Naxal recruits. Since BJP govt was formed in Chhattisgarh, both govts are working jointly against Naxalism," he said. On Dharavi Fadnavis said the people of Dharavi support the redevelopment project and have even taken out a morcha in support of the project. "Merely because four Congress leaders take out a morcha does not mean people are opposed to it. This is the country's biggest urban transformation project. All eligible residents will get a house in Dharavi, and all eligible business establishments will be rehabilitated in Dharavi. Those ineligible will also get housing. No one will be left out. In fact, 8-10 lakh people will get housing. It is the world's biggest urban transformation project. Some do not want the poor to be pulled out of poverty. Congress has been doing this kind of politics," he said. TNN

State govt's adamant stand only hurdle blocking AIIMS: Gopi

Kochi: Union minister of state for tourism and petroleum Suresh Gopi said that the only reason for the delay in declaring AIIMS for Kerala is the state govt's insistence on a single proposed site. Addressing a news conference held as part of the first anniversary celebrations of the third NDA govt on Tuesday, Gopi said that the AIIMS project would be a reality soon in Kerala, and he promised that the foundation stone will be laid for the project before his term as MP ends. "The Union govt has requested three location options. I don't understand the state's rigidity on proposing only a single location. But I assure you, the foundation stone will be laid at a suitable site before my term as MP ends," Gopi said. While responding to a question over the safety concern regarding ship accidents off the Kerala coast, he expressed concern over the accidents involving two cargo ships within a short span of days, calling it a matter that warrants serious attention. "If the state govt seeks assistance, the Centre is ready to intervene. For now, the Centre is keeping a close watch on all developments related to these accidents," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dublin: We Need People to Try Latest High-Tech Hearing Aids - Free Learn More Undo 'Coastal rail link still viable' On transport infrastructure in the state, Gopi reiterated the feasibility of a coastal rail corridor connecting Edappally and Tirur. "When I proposed extending the Kochi Metro to Thrissur, many mocked the idea. Now, the line is reaching Angamaly. Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is the most suitable urban transit solution for the state. A coastal rail link connecting Edappally, Kodungallur, Chavakkad, and Tirur is still viable," he said. On the semi-high-speed rail project proposed by Metro Man E Sreedharan, Gopi said the railway ministry is still examining the proposal, although no final decision has been made. The minister emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India is progressing towards the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. "The Modi govt pulled over 25cr people out of poverty. The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana ensured food security for more than 81cr people. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, over 40 lakh houses were built for the underprivileged, and more than 10.33cr women received free LPG connections through the Ujjwala Yojana," he added.

Dip in infiltration from B'desh in last six months: Saha

1 2 3 Agartala: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha on Tuesday claimed there is a slight decrease in illegal immigration from Bangladesh during the past six months due to enhanced border monitoring and targeted operations in vulnerable areas previously used by illegal Bangladeshi nationals as transit points to other Indian states. During a media briefing celebrating the 11th year of Narendra Modi's govt, he dismissed claims of increased infiltration from Bangladesh, crediting the improved situation to effective security measures. Saha highlighted concerns about certain sections of the India-Bangladesh border where fencing infrastructure is inadequate or non-existent. He confirmed that these issues have been brought to the attention of the Union home ministry and security agencies. The chief minister acknowledged increased arrests of illegal immigrants during recent operations. This statement gains importance considering BJP's alliance partner TIPRA Motha's call for comprehensive action to identify and remove undocumented Bangladeshi nationals from Tripura. TIPRA Motha has initiated grassroots efforts in rural areas, directing supporters to document illegal Bangladeshi residents who obtained fraudulent Indian papers through local authorities. The party advocates for establishing detention facilities for illegal immigrants, similar to those in Assam. Discussing Modi govt's achievements, Saha said Tripura received substantial central funding during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. He emphasised how the PM's initiatives and direct benefit transfer system enhanced governance transparency by eliminating intermediaries. He reported that Tripura farmers received Rs 843 crore through PM-KISAN, Rs 10 crore via PM Fasal Bima Yojana, and Rs 2,272 crore in low-interest loans through Kisan Credit Card scheme. Under Har Ghar Jal Yojana, household tap water access increased from 3% to 86%. Regarding healthcare and welfare, Ayushman Bharat settled claims worth Rs 239 crore, leading Tripura to develop its own health programme. Additionally, 8,200 small businesses received unsecured loans, while 1.46 lakh new mothers received Rs 62 crore through PM Matru Vandana Yojana. The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana facilitated rooftop solar panel installation in 368 households.
