Ngidi fires Proteas back into contention on day of supersonic Test cricket
Supersonic Test cricket. That's what day two turned into. What at tea looked like being a cruise for Australia, suddenly went haywire. There was redemption for Lungi Ngidi. A stunning blow from Wiaan Mulder. The DRS worked in South Africa's favour. And as a result, a World Test Championship final at Lord's that looked to be over at tea was brought back to life on Thursday. That it was Ngidi who provided the resuscitation was the biggest shock. But Test cricket provides that kind of opportunity. By the end, Australia, on 144/8 in the second innings after South Africa's collapse to 138 in their first, had a precious, but still precarious, lead of 218. Much-maligned, understandably so, after such a horrible display on the opening day, Ngidi was given the ball immediately after the tea interval. There were groans all around from the many South African fans here and numerous ex-players either watching socially or on official commentary duties.

Hashim Amla and Graeme Smith inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame
JOHANNESBURG - The ICC announced seven new additions to the ICC Hall of Fame on Monday, which included two of South Africa's former great cricketers Hashim Amla and Graeme Smith. The ICC Hall of Fame pays tribute to the best players the game has seen, individuals whose careers have shaped cricket's legacy and inspired generations. Amla was the first South African batsman to score a Test-match triple century, making 311 not out against England at the Oval in 2012. Amla has a tally of almost 19,000 international runs for South Africa. With 55 international centuries to his name and has been selected six times across ICC Team of the Year selections across formats. He's regarded as one of the first three-format greats. He often found himself playing alongside Smith. Graeme Smith was 22 when he captained the Proteas and led South Africa in a world-record 109 Tests, with the former opening batsman the only player to captain a Test team for over 100 matches. Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates both battle for Rapoo's signature
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are in a fierce competition for Neo Rapoo, SuperSport United's highly-rated 19-year-old left-back. Rapoo's rise through the ranks has been nothing short of meteoric. After a standout season with SuperSport and an instrumental role in guiding South Africa's U20 side to the Africa Cup of Nations title, the young star has cemented his status as one of the most exciting defensive talents in the country. While scouts from Scandinavia and the Gulf have expressed interest, domestic interest is heating up rapidly. A source within SuperSport has confirmed that both Chiefs and Pirates are 'seriously after' Rapoo, who is widely tipped to become a future Bafana Bafana regular. 'Yes they are both (Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates) interested but SuperSport would prefer to sell to a European club,' a reliable insider revealed. 'But an offer has not come through yet. Also, the boy only has one season left on his contract, so there is a risk of losing him on a free next season.' Orlando Pirates' urgency stems from recent changes in their defensive line. With Paseka Mako released and Innocent Maela retiring, the Buccaneers have made left-back a top priority. Rapoo's pace, composure, and attacking instincts fit the mould of what the club needs moving forward. Kaizer Chiefs have also identified Rapoo as a long-term solution for a position that has consistently troubled them in recent seasons. With a rebuild underway and a renewed focus on youth, the Amakhosi see Rapoo as a perfect fit for their new project. Despite his aspirations of eventually playing in Europe, Rapoo remains open to a move within the Betway Premiership as the next step in his development. His current contract situation adds another layer of urgency. With just one year remaining on his deal, SuperSport face the risk of losing the player on a free transfer if they don't act fast. Both Chiefs and Pirates know this could be their best chance to land one of South African football's brightest prospects before overseas offers come calling. Who can convince Rapoo to join them? Kaizer Chiefs or Pirates? Let us know by leaving a comment below or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
