Markets snapped their five-week-long consolidation trend, driven by improving global cues, easing geopolitical concerns, and a renewed uptick in foreign institutional investor (FII) buying during the latter half of the week. After a tentative start, sentiment improved midweek, leading to broader market participation. The easing of tensions between Iran and Israel helped revive global risk appetite, further supporting the rally. Consequently, benchmark indices ended the week on a firm note, with the Nifty closing at 25,637.80 and the Sensex at 84,058.90—both near their respective weekly highs. With this, Analyst Rahul Ghose, Founder and CEO, Octanom Tech and Hedged.in , interacted with ET Markets regarding the outlook on Nifty and Bank Nifty along with an index strategy for the upcoming week. Following are the edited excerpts from his chat:The Indian equity markets are currently in a mature uptrend, though showing signs of consolidation near all-time highs. Nifty 50 has sustained above key breakout levels, but volatility due to global macro events—especially crude price swings and geopolitical tensions—has introduced short-term rangebound behaviour. The broader market remains healthy, with midcaps and smallcaps outperforming, indicating strong underlying participation.Crude has pulled back from recent highs, which is mildly positive for India. However, ongoing US-Iran-Israel friction keeps headline risk elevated.Technically, the Nifty 50 is in a bullish structure on all major time frames. However, in the short-term, one can see a pullback/correction, considering it is approaching resistance areas on daily and weekly time frame price charts. The 26,000-26,200 level is the level from which Nifty created a strong impulse downmove. With markets currently trading around 25,600 to 25,700 levels, one needs to be cautious and look for buying opportunities only on a retracement. In the short-term, 25000-24700 is likely to act as a strong support and any dips towards that level will attract buying opportunities on the index.Support levels – 25,000-24,700Resistance levels – 26,000 -26,300Bank Nifty has performed well recently—what technical drivers are signaling strength or weakness here?Bank Nifty is showing leadership, which is a healthy sign for the broader market. PSU banks and large private players have contributed meaningfully.Key technical drivers:Price has sustained above 57,100, turning previous resistance into support. The 20-EMA is acting as a reliable dynamic support.MACD is on a fresh bullish crossover, and RSI is around 67, suggesting strength but with room before overbought territory.FIIs have turned net buyers in the past 8–10 sessions after being cautious through May and early June. Their action indicates renewed confidence, particularly in banking, capital goods, and autos. However, they're still selectively hedging with index options, which tells us the buying is not yet aggressive, but more measured and data-driven.Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Bank are standout performers.Nifty Midcap 100 is near its life highs with no negative divergence on weekly RSI, which is currently around 65—strong but not yet in the red zone.Nifty Bank has shown a fresh breakout from a 10-month consolidation zone, supported by strong volumes and MACD crossover on daily and weekly charts.RSI is far from being overbought, with levels at 68.The metal index has outperformed with strong breadth. The rally is primarily fuelled by positive news related to the Israel-Iran ceasefire and improved global demand Stocks like Tata Steel, Hindalco, and JSW Steel have confirmed breakouts with rising OI (open interest), validating the uptrend. One high-conviction stock right now is Nestle IndiaEntry: Around the cmp.Stop-loss: Rs 2305 (below recent swing low and 20-day EMA).Target: 2700-2800 in the next 4–6 weeks.Nestle India, ICICI Bank, Ultratech Cement, & Reliance are looking good to enter as per technical charts. All these stocks are poised for a breakout and have no nearby resistance in the short-term.(Disclaimer: Recommendations, suggestions, views and opinions given by the experts are their own. Now, the foundation stone is being laid for Gadchiroli's bright future, enhanced contribution to Maharashtra's economy, and India's national vision of making Green Steel,' he added.

Technical textiles is a potential area for investments in T.N. by Taiwan companies: official

Technical textiles is a potential sector that can see significant investments in Tamil Nadu by Taiwan companies, said V. Arun Roy, Secretary, Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department, Tamil Nadu. Speaking at the Tamil Nadu – Taiwan Technical Textiles Partnership Summit, organised in Coimbatore on Monday by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Tiruppur Exporters Association, and the Tamil Nadu government, he said Tamil Nadu has a large investment from Taiwan companies in electronics and footwear sectors. Since 2021, the Tamil Nadu government and Taiwan companies have signed 21 MoUs for $ 1.4 billion investment in the State. Technical textiles can be the next potential sector. The PM MITRA Park at Virudhunagar will have dedicated area for technical textiles apart from plug and play facilities for technical textiles. Indian and Taiwan companies should look at investing in the park. Garment exports from Tiruppur and Coimbatore districts grew 20% in 2024-2025 to touch ₹45,000 crores and registered 12 % growth in the first quarter of the current fiscal. The exports are expected to increase 15% this year. However, 'future of the textile industry lies beyond the cotton sector. We should tap opportunities in technical textiles and MMF. It offers more opportunities in value addition,' he said. Director of Handlooms, Tamil Nadu, Maheshwari Ravikumar said the Tamil Nadu government was in the process of issuing an order to offer capital subsidy for the processing sector; will introduce courses in technical textiles in polytechnics and industrial training institutes, and was studying the recommendations submitted in a report by Wazir Advisors to promote sportswear and athleisure production in the State. Over 55 one-to-one business meetings were held in Coimbatore on Monday between Indian companies and Taiwan companies as a part of the Summit.

India's listed startups raised over ₹44,000 crore from public markets in FY25: report

Venture-backed Indian startups raised over ₹44,000 crore ($5.3 billion) in FY25 from public markets via IPOs, FPOs, and QIPs, marking a structural shift in startup fundraising lifecycle in India. According to investment bank Rainmaker Group's RainGauge Index FY25 Annual Update, public markets outpaced private capital for late-stage fundraising, solidifying their role as the dominant source of growth capital. The money raised from public markets was two times more than private late-stage capital. The year also saw a record ₹20,000+ Crore in secondary exits as PE/VC firms like Peak XV and TPG harvested early bets through block and bulk deals. 'FY25 didn't just test India's startup listings, it matured them,' said Kashyap Chanchani, Managing Partner, The Rainmaker Group. 'The public market has become the preferred playground for India's breakout companies. We've now seen the full arc - the IPO frenzy, the valuation winter, and now a clear re-rating driven by fundamentals. This is the age of seasoning. The market is no longer listening to stories, it's pricing in substance. India's innovation economy has hit a new gear, one where companies with predictable earnings, durable moats, and institutional-grade governance will dominate,' he added. The report also noted that despite the early-year correction and record FII outflows [around ₹78,000 Crore in Q1], foreign investors returned strongly by Q4, driven by rate-cut expectations and India's steady macro indicators. The year witnessed Zomato joining the NIFTY50 and SENSEX, Swiggy entering the NIFTY Next 50, and Nykaa, PB Fintech, Ola Electric inducted into the NIFTY MidCap150. 'With IPOs no longer delivering inflated valuations or easy exits, startups will have to align with public market expectations much earlier in their lifecycle,' said a statement from the company. 'Sector-specific valuation guardrails are firmly in place with two-year forward EV/EBITDA multiples now providing structured lenses across internet, SaaS, BFSI, and consumer brands. Analyst-grade metrics, unit economics, transparency, and sustainable growth stories will need to be baked in from day one. Startups must now build with capital efficiency, narrative credibility, and governance readiness and not just valuation hype,' it further read.
