
IEM Sabah Branch to hold Golden Jubilee Gala Dinner

KOTA KINABALU (May 7): The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) Sabah Branch will mark a major milestone this June with its Golden Jubilee Gala Dinner, celebrating 50 years of unwavering dedication to engineering excellence, professional development, and nation-building in Sabah.
The prestigious event will take place on June 14 at 6:30 pm, in the Grand Ballroom of The Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort.
Ir. Nicholas Lim, the organising chairman, expressed pride in leading this historic celebration.
'This Golden Jubilee is more than a dinner — it is a tribute to the engineers who have shaped Sabah's infrastructure, communities, and future,' he noted.
The event will honour the legacy and contributions of IEM members over the past five decades while charting the course for the future of the profession.
The dinner will be graced by the guest of honour, Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sabah Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) Musa bin Haji Aman and Toh Puan Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Hajah Faridah binti Haji Tussin.
Also present will be the IEM president and national council members, signifying the importance of this event not only for Sabah but for the institution at the national level.
Over the past 50 years, IEM Sabah has played a pivotal role in driving engineering progress and capacity-building across the state — from public infrastructure to industrial innovation.
The Jubilee celebration is a chance to bring together engineers, government officials, industry leaders and academicians to reflect on the branch's accomplishments, celebrate partnerships, and inspire the next generation of engineering professionals.

The delegation was led by Ir. Ts. Mohd Yaakob Hj Jaafar, chairman of IEM Sabah Branch, accompanied by Ir. Ts. Tan KJ, JP (Vice Chairman I), Ir. Yap Kok Wai, Paul (Vice Chairman II), Datuk Ir. Willy Chin Tet Fu (immediate past Chairman), Ir. Ts. Nicholas Lim (Committee Member & Organising Chair of IEM Sabah 50th Anniversary Dinner), Ir. Ts. Jamilah Tukang (Committee Member), Albert Chai Jiin Tsong (Vice Chairman II, Young Engineers Section – YES) and Nor Shakinah Awg Raiman (Chairlady, Women Engineers Section – WE) The main objective of the visit was to brief Tun Musa on the history and progress of IEM Sabah over the past five decades, as well as to formally invite him to grace the upcoming IEM Sabah 50th Anniversary Jubilee Celebration as the guest of honour.
