Hans India01-07-2025
Power generation has commenced at both the Right and Left Hydropower Stations within the Srisailam Project. Currently, 58,750 cusecs of water is being released to the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam while electricity is being generated. The reservoir is receiving a significant influx of 1,00085 cusecs of floodwater from the upper catchment area of Jurala.
As of 6 am on Tuesday, the water level at Srisailam was recorded at 874.30 feet, with water storage levels at 160.52 TMC. This development marks an important step in harnessing hydropower resources in the region.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh is set to experience a predominantly cloudy day, with light to moderate rain expected across North Andhra and Coastal Andhra from morning through to evening. Certain areas may even see heavy rainfall.
Winds are currently blowing across North Andhra, contributing to the change in weather patterns. However, the Amaravati Meteorological Centre has reported that Rayalaseema will remain dry today, in contrast to the rain expected in other regions.

Heavy Rain forecast issued to AP and Telangana for three days amid surface trough

A surface trough has developed over South Odisha and the surrounding regions, reaching an altitude of 5.8 km above mean sea level. Bisalpur dam expected to overflow soon, water level crosses 314 mts

Ajmer: Bisalpur dam crossed its 314 mts gauge mark with more than 73 percent of the dam's total capacity of 28.495 TMC capacity Monday morning. PHED officials feel that in coming days the dam might overflow as Triveni (an important point where Banas, Khari, and Dai rivers meet) from where water comes to the dam has already touched gauge of 3 mts. Bisalpur recorded a total of 427 mm of rainfall. Officials feel that this year the dam is receiving better rainwater compared to previous years. "In July 2024, water level of dam was 310.14 mts while in July 2023, it was more than 313 mts. On Sunday evening, the gauge of Triveni was 313.95 mts and then 84 mm of rain recorded on Monday morning which brought ample water into the dam," said an official. On June 16 this year, the level of the dam was 312.45 mts. The Banas, Khari, and Dai rivers flow from Chittorgarh and Bhilwara which bring additional water. Additional chief engineer of PHED, Ramchandra Rar said, "This time, with good rains in Chittorgarh, Rajasmand, and Bhilwara, the seasonal rivers are bringing water to Triveni, and therefore, the Bisalpur Dam is expected to overflow in July." Bisalpur dam is a major source of drinking water for Jaipur, Ajmer, Tonk and Beawar. Its construction started in 1994 for water supply to Ajmer. Height of the dam was raised in different phases. The dam overflowed for the first time in 2004 and then in 2006. It remained at its lowest, 306.85 mts in 2009 when Ajmer faced water scarcity.
