Bad Bunny caused chaos on set of ‘Caught Stealing,' says director Darren Aronofsky
The Puerto Rican superstar — whose legal name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio — will play a supporting role in Darren Aronofsky's 'Caught Stealing,' which will hit theaters Aug. 29.
The film stars Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz and marks Aronofsky's first movie since directing Brendan Fraser's Oscar-winning performance in 2022's 'The Whale.'
Set in the 1990s, 'Caught Stealing' follows a former baseball player (Butler) as he gets involved in the New York City crime world. Matt Smith, Regina King and Vincent D'Onofrio also appear in the movie based on the 2004 Charlie Huston novel of the same name.
Aronofsky talked about what it was like to have the 'DtMF' singer on set in a recent interview with Vanity Fair.
'He's, like, the sweetest guy in the world. ... And we ended up talking,' Aronofsky said of working with Bad Bunny, who plays a Puerto Rican gang member named Colorado in the film. 'There was a character that he fit really well and he was great. He was so down-to-earth, and he was so one of us, and so part of the team.'
But the hitmaker soon became a bit of a distraction on set, as fans would catch wind of his presence and flock to various filming locations across Manhattan to get a view.
'We were constantly terrified that the neighborhood would be overthrown as soon as they found out that Benito was there,' Aronofsky said. 'He was also a good sport. He actually would come to set and then just camp out there, knowing he was not going to be able to get back to his trailer or anywhere.'
Getting the 31-year-old musician on and off set turned in an elaborate operation to ensure a smooth and chaos-free process.
'There were a lot of back exits and going through tunnels that no one ever knew existed in the East Village to get him out and back and over fences, so he didn't have to go through the street,' the Academy Award-nominated director said. 'It was constantly like: 'Hide the Benito.''
The upcoming role will mark Bad Bunny's second movie of the summer as he will appear in Netflix's 'Happy Gilmore 2' on July 25. The 'MONACO' artist's acting aspiration have been in full swing for years now, and he has snagged roles in the Netflix series 'Narcos: Mexico,' 2022's 'Bullet Train' alongside Brad Pitt and the 2023 Gael García Bernal-led film 'Cassandro.'

Netflix drops new look at 'Frankenstein' — and it teases a deliciously dark and haunting journey
Netflix has just dropped a striking series of new images for Guillermo del Toro's upcoming adaptation of 'Frankenstein.' In these freshly released stills for the Netflix movie, Jacob Elordi emerges almost unrecognizable as Frankenstein's monster, with his face shrouded in a hood and scarf, revealing patchwork greenish skin, sewn scars, and a deliberately unsettling lack of eyebrows. The images also show Oscar Isaac in the role of Dr. Victor Frankenstein, captured delivering a lecture in a grand medical hall, while Mia Goth appears in character as Elizabeth Lavenza with her stunning blue outfit design. Additional character portraits include Christoph Waltz as Dr. Pretorius (or Harlander), Charles Dance as Leopold Frankenstein, and a younger Victor Frankenstein played by Christian Convery, all standing in rooms that look both beautifully ornate and quietly falling apart. These new images really lean into del Toro's style. It's dark, detailed and kind of beautiful in a twisted way. But there's more going on beneath the surface too — a creature trying to understand what he is and a creator who clearly has his own demons. Set to premiere globally on Netflix in November 2025, following its debut at major film festivals such as Venice and Toronto, this Gothic adaptation could be one of the platform's most ambitious releases of the year. Along with the new images, there's also an official synopsis: 'Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro adapts Mary Shelley's classic tale of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.' Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Vanity Fair reports that del Toro's take on 'Frankenstein' will explore the characters' family relationships more deeply. He explained, 'These are the parallels between Pinocchio and Frankenstein. It's the idea of a person going from a baby to a human being in a short span of time and being exposed to everything — cold, warmth, violence, love, loss. 'And then going to his creator to say, 'Why? Why did you put me here? Why didn't you give me the answers? What do I have to learn in my suffering?'' 'Frankenstein' features a talented cast to bring Mary Shelley's classic characters to life. Oscar Isaac stars as Dr. Victor Frankenstein, the brilliant but troubled scientist behind the monstrous creation, played by Jacob Elordi. Mia Goth appears as Elizabeth Lavenza, while Christoph Waltz takes on the role of Dr. Pretorius. The movie also includes Felix Kammerer as William, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley as a blind man, Christian Convery, Charles Dance, and Ralph Ineson as Professor Krempe, all in key but as-yet undisclosed roles. Elordi said he went back and watched every 'Frankenstein' movie he could find, including the classics dating all the way back to 1931. 'I devoured all of his monsters,' he said, referring to Boris Karloff's iconic version of the creature. 'At first I thought, 'I'll stay away from this. I want to do my own thing.' And then I asked Guillermo, 'Should I watch the other Frankensteins?' And he goes, 'What do you mean?' I was like, 'Well, I don't want it to be influenced.' He says, 'My friend, it's a movie, it can't hurt you.' I went home, and I just binged them.' The first teaser for 'Frankenstein' was released during Netflix's Tudum event. The gothic look and del Toro's signature dark, detailed style come through loud and clear. But now seeing the new images, Elordi's transformation looks genuinely impressive, and there's a real emotional weight hinted at in the teaser. Overall, it's got me genuinely excited to see how the filmmaker's vision plays out on screen. It's also important to note that this is a gothic horror, so expect plenty of dark visuals along with intense, bloody scenes and some truly grisly moments that should stay faithful to the genre's chilling roots. Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton share details on 'Wednesday' S3 and potential 'Beetlejuice 3'
Director Tim Burton and star Jenna Ortega recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter for an interview about the highly anticipated season season of the Netflix show, Wednesday, as well as news that the Netflix series would be getting a third season. During their chat, the director and star traded quotes about what fans can expect from the second season, Ortega discussing the controversy she found herself at the center of during press for Wednesday season 1, and the potential for a third Beetlejuice movie. Burton told THR that he was excited to continue the story because he doesn't typically do television. "It was the idea of exploring something on a longer time frame, and she's an interesting character," he said. "As much as a middle-aged man could feel like a teenage Wednesday Addams, I feel those things. And she's a character that's all about being subtle because she doesn't really have a huge range of emotions." Ortega agreed, and the conversation continued to discuss her accidental controversy in which she discussed "changing lines" and "had to put [her] foot down" because "everything [she] had to play did not make sense for the character." Looking back, she said she felt terrible about the way her words came across. "In no way did I mean to come across that way. I spend a lot of time in my head, and I have all these different trains of thought, and all I needed to say was, 'I improvise.' Also, nobody, before, ever cared what I said. It was a good lesson." The showrunner added that Ortega is now a producer on the show and has more creative control. The interviewer also mentioned the news from Warner Bros. Pictures co-chairman/CEO Mike De Luca stating that development for Beetlejuice 3 was "starting imminently." Neither Ortega nor Burton seemed to know what the interviewer was talking about. "Really? Nobody told me. Maybe I've been replaced," Burton said. "Maybe I've been, too. Maybe [her character] Astrid dies and goes to heaven instead [of the films' Netherworld]. They should just take Baby Beetlejuice on tour and send him to Hawaii," Ortega joined in to say. Burton said the sequel took 35 years to make, so he'd be 105 before the next movie got made. "It's like trying to re-create the Wednesday dance scene," Burton added, noting that he'd love to make a third movie but had reservations. "I love the characters, but I don't necessarily see it." Season 2 of Netflix's Wednesday will arrive to the streaming service in two parts: Part one on August 6 and part two on September 3.
