Young Celtic fan parties with BSC Young Boys in Switzerland after sweet viral clip in Glasgow
Footage captured the moment Joshua McLaughlin interacted with BSC Young Boys fans at Celtic Park earlier this year, a special relationship which has continued. A young Celtic fan has partied with BSC Young Boys in Switzerland after footage captured him meeting their fans in Glasgow earlier this year. The viral clip showed eight-year-old Joshua McLaughlin and his dad walking over to applaud the away fans after being blown away by the atmosphere they created at the crunch Champions League game fixture in January. The supporters took Joshua to their hearts and he has now visited Switzerland twice in recent months. Following the game at Celtic Park, Joshua's dad, Kevin, wanted to buy his son a BSC Young Boys jersey but when he contacted the club the pair were invited over for a match. They enjoyed an all expenses paid trip to Switzerland in April, where the Elderslie youngster was asked to be the club mascot for the day as the Swiss outfit played Yverdon Sport FC. Joshua begged his dad to go over again during the school holidays and they were given an unbelievable reception from the locals last weekend. Speaking to the Record, Kevin, 53, explained how his son struck up a close friendship with local lads Jonas Boss and Giuliano Matturro in April and was desperate to go back over for a game this summer. Kevin arranged a trip to take in BSC Young Boy's match against FC Sion on Sunday, August 10. At the match, goalkeeper Marvin Keller and defender Jaouen Hadjam even noticed Joshua and came over and spent some time with him. Kevin said: "I tried to keep it as low key as possible, but the day before the game I posted a picture on Instagram and the club shared it and hundreds of Swiss people started following me. "So many people inside the stadium seemed to recognise us and the attention was so overwhelming. "We went out for dinner that night and the guy who owned the restaurant refused to let us pay for our meal. "It was the same when we visited the country earlier this year, the Swiss fans have just been absolutely amazing throughout and Joshua is stopped all the time and asked for selfies. "It has all been such a whirlwind of emotions and came off the back of the one incident inside Celtic Park." Kevin explained he had never seen such a noisy and colourful away support in all his years following Celtic during the January game. He said from the moment they stepped inside the stadium that night Joshua was completely fascinated. "By that point all of the home fans were away so we must have stood out as we walked over to be near them. "The fans started doing that thing you see in the video where they sort of hum and put out their hands. "Joshua walked over and they let off two huge roars and applauded him. "It was such a special moment for us both and I was bursting with pride." Kevin uploaded his video on social media before going to bed that night and woke up to find it had gone viral. The dad was inundated with messages from supporters of the Swiss club. He said their lives haven't been the same since and the club are going to be a fixture in their lives going forward. Kevin added: "I don't know where it will go from here but it has been a wonderful journey so far. "BSC Young Boys are definitely our second club now and Joshua has absolutely fallen in love with them." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Shedeur Sanders' mom steals spotlight again in latest NFL appearance... days after being slammed for 'embarrassing' behavior
Just days after stealing the headlines at her son Shedeur's NFL debut for the Cleveland Browns, Pilar Sanders has returned to the sport - this time for her other son Shilo. The brothers have both landed in the NFL after playing college ball together at Colorado - coached by their father Deion - last season. And it appears their mom will be very busy this season as she travels across the country to take in both of their fledgling careers - with plenty of social media posts to boot. After she was slammed by some for her 'embarrassing' sideline behavior at Shedeur's game last weekend, she returned to the spotlight in a custom dress with Shilo's face on for his Tampa Bay Buccaneers debut. Posting on social media, she wrote: 'First NFL Game and Yep @shilosanders brangs that BOOM Everytime! #proudmom #tampabaybuccaneers #shilosanders #28' In a series of videos and photos, the 50-year-old - who is separated from the NFL stars' father Deion - showed off her red outfit and vlogged her experience at the game. Last week, she was ripped by Browns fans after traveling to watch Shedeur - fourth-choice quarterback - make his own first appearance in the pro game. She watched on from the sidelines on the day and, after the game, shared a video of herself celebrating the occasion. The caption read: 'Aaaaaand you know itttt!!! Momma's always present!' Some fans, however, were not impressed by Pilar's actions and swiftly made their feelings known by responding in the comments to her Instagram post. One fan wrote: 'I would be embarrassed if my 60-year-old mom conducted herself like that'. For clarity, Pilar Sanders is 50. 'She acted like a kid,' another said. Meanwhile one user brutally commented: 'She is so annoying'. One fan, however, did leave a lengthy comment. They said: 'But as a mother pulling up to my son's games, I would conduct myself differently. This is young woman behavior. You are so fine. Pilar received some heat online for her behavior at Shedeur's game last weekend Shedeur is fourth-choice quarterback at Cleveland and is battling to make the final roster 'You dont have to be posting pic licking your teeth and wiggling. Im not hating at all, but her sons are so respectful and respected by many in the world, that she should just carry herself showing more class'. Fans were left stunned by Sanders balling out on his debut in the NFL, with one even calling it 'history-making', and another claiming he has 'proven his doubters wrong'. Shilo also enjoyed a productive debut, and has turned himself into a fans' favorite in Tampa Bay in a very short space of time. It is as yet unclear whether he will make the final roster ahead of the season, but he is being tipped to be picked up elsewhere should he fall short in Tampa Bay.

Djed Spence signs new contract at Tottenham
Versatile full-back Spence only signed fresh terms last October until 2028, but has been rewarded for a fine breakthrough campaign at Spurs. Spence made 35 appearances in the 2024-25 campaign, after eventually being handed his full debut in December – two-and-a-half-years after he first joined the club. After Spence was deemed a 'club signing' by former Tottenham boss Antonio Conte in 2022, the former Nottingham Forest defender had mixed loans at Rennes, Leeds and Genoa. Spence might have left Spurs last summer, but instead forced his way into the plans of then-boss Ange Postecoglou and played his part in their Europa League triumph. Postecoglou's replacement Thomas Frank has quickly placed his trust in Spence and started him in Wednesday's Super Cup loss to Paris St Germain. The latest stage of the 25-year-old's resurgence is to earn improved terms to ensure his long-term future remains at Tottenham. Speaking in Udine before his new contract had been finalised, Spence was quizzed on the prospect of Spurs being active during the final fortnight of the summer transfer window. Injuries to James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski have left Tottenham short on attacking midfield options, which is why the club has this week opened talks with Manchester City and Crystal Palace respectively over the potential signings of Savinho and Eberechi Eze, PA understands. Our 2025/26 Premier League campaign kicks off on Saturday. 👉 @Castrol — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 14, 2025 'I'm not sure who has been linked or who is going to come in, but I think yeah whoever comes in will definitely add strength to the squad and will be a good thing for us,' Spence admitted. 'Yeah, (Champions League), it's a great competition, it's the big stage and everyone wants to show what they can do on the biggest stage, so yeah, looking forward to it.' Before Spurs return to Europe's elite competition next month, morale must be lifted after their midweek shoot-out loss. Spence urged Tottenham to bounce back in their Premier League opener with Burnley on Saturday, which will be Frank's first fixture at home. He added: 'I think we've got to keep our heads up first and foremost. Then starting Saturday, we play at home, get a win and take it from there. 'I think the main thing (asked by Frank) is be solid at the back and our target is to keep as many clean sheets as possible. You do that and you win trophies, you win titles.'
