As per NDTV reports, A woman in her mid-20s, identified as Srividya and working as a college lecturer, died by suicide just six months after marrying Rambabu, a village surveyor. In her note, she described the harassment that began barely a month into their marriage.
According to the note, Srividya endured a disturbing pattern of domestic abuse at the hands of Rambabu. He would allegedly return home intoxicated, subjecting her to physical violence and verbal abuse.
The abuse included humiliating her in front of others, using derogatory language and inflicting severe physical harm. The situation became so dire that Srividya felt compelled to take extreme action.
Authorities have been informed, and an investigation into her death is currently underway.

Dubai trip to ‘verify safety of money' in vain, bizman loses 5.2 cr to scammers
Mumbai: Four men were arrested by the cyber police for an investment fraud where, perhaps for the first time, a victim was summoned overseas by scammers to assure him of the safety of his investments. The victim, a 62-year-old suburban businessman, gradually figured out that something wasn't right, but it was too late. He had already lost Rs 5.24 crore to the scammers. Police investigations have revealed that some of the accused were previously involved in duping over 30 people from Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Kerala and Chennai in different frauds running up to Rs 65 crore. The accused, R Menon, 35, Manikandan, 32, H Pandi, 38, and a fourth individual were arrested from Chennai by west region cyber police. The elderly businessman was scammed by these men over nine months. One of the accused approached him in Oct 2024, claiming to be employed with a Dubai-based investment firm that offered great returns on investments. He connected the complainant over the phone with Menon, the "firm's director." Menon told the complainant that he would receive 10% returns per month and, additionally, shares of the same value as his investment would be transferred to his demat account. But instead of the firm's bank account number, he was provided with the personal account number of Manikandan (another accused) for making payment. When he pointed out the issue, he was told Manikandan was the firm's employee and would eventually transfer all the investors' money into the firm's bank account in bulk. In Dec 2024, the scammers told the complainant that his investment earned a profit. He could withdraw about Rs 90,000. This strengthened his faith in the firm. He received an email purportedly from "SEBI" about shares being transferred into his demat account. Till Feb, the complainant paid Rs 5.24 crore in total. In March, the scammers invited him to Dubai to assure him of the safety of his investments. But when he flew to Dubai, he discovered that the firm's office did not exist. He then dialled Menon, who claimed he was in the US. The complainant smelt a rat and demanded a full refund. "The accused then sent him fake cheques, demand drafts, letters from the I-T department, and an email from a trading platform to con him into believing that his money was being refunded and shares were transferred in his name. But none of it actually happened," said a police officer. After a probe, police officers sourced some of these fake documents to Menon's phone. A team led by DCP Purushottam Karad and comprising senior inspector Suvarna Shinde and sub-inspector Vijay Ghorpade seized watches and other material from the accused. Occult practitioner killed in Gr Noida over woman's elopement
Greater Noida:Five men were arrested on Friday for allegedly killing a 45-year-old occult practitioner and dumping his body in the Bulandshahr canal on August 2, after one of the suspects' wives eloped with someone else in 2022 and they believed that the victim's 'supernatural activity influenced her decision, said police on Friday, adding that the suspects had been planning the murder for the past three months. Police said, a few days ago, the family members of Naresh Prajapati, resident of Roza Jalalpur village in Bisrakh, Greater Noida, approached and informed that Prajapati, who was missing, was found dead in a canal. 'Believing that Prajapati's occult practice caused his wife to elope, Sharma had been planning to kill him for the last three months . Offering 100 square yards of land to every suspect and luxury vehicles, he recruited three other suspects with the help of a friend,' said Assistant Commissioner of Police, Central Noida, Diksha Singh. Singh said the three suspects joined his Bulandshahr-based acquaintance Praveen Mavi, who agreed to dispose of Prajapati's body in a canal close to his home. Police said, on the pretext of conducting a ritual, they contacted Prajapati and called him to meet in Greater Noida. 'They picked up Prajapati in a Maruti Suzuki Swift from Roja Jalalpur and strangulated him using his scarf. When Prajapati fell unconscious, they took him to Bulandshahr and killed him by hitting him on the head multiple times with a sharp-edged weapon,' said ACP Singh. Police said Sharma married another woman after his wife's elopement, and his wife is also believed to be married to someone else. Prajapati, who is also married and has two kids, was murdered solely on the suspicion that his occult practice might have had a connection with the woman's action. Police recovered the weapons and the vehicle used in the crime. A case under Section 103 (murder) of the BNS has been registered against the suspects at Bisrakh police station, and further investigation is underway.
