A BRIT woman has pleaded for the freedom of her father-in-law who has been denied bail after allegedly attempting to drown her.
Mark Gibbon, 62, has been accused of attempting to murder Jasmine Wyld, 33, by repeatedly holding her head underwater in a pool during a vacation in Florida.

Ms Wyld described her father-in-law as 'best friend'
Mr Gibbon, a wealthy lighting engineer, is claimed to have struck a relationship with Ms Wyld - who was once married to his son Alex.
Both of them have denied the claims.
Ms Wyld, who is now back in the UK, broke her silence to speak about the Brit grandad, whom she described as her "best friend", The Times reports.
Speaking to a court in Florida via video link, she said: "I have always felt very safe around Mark and him being around my two children.
"This has only come as a bit of a shock to me ... I can only sing his praises for what a fantastic grandfather he is."
Ms Wyld previously told prosecutors she "could not breathe" and feared "she would drown", according to the Polk County Sheriff's office.
It was her nine-year-old daughter who is said to have leapt into the pool to try to "save" her mother.
Police reports said Mr Gibbon's alleged attack left her with scratches and bruising.
The Brit grandad from Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and two counts of battery.
Ms Wyld spoke in favour of a motion submitted by Mr Gibbon's lawyer, calling for his release from custody.

However, a Judge denied the request and said that Ms Wyld's testimony contradicts the sworn statement she gave on the day of the alleged drowning.
They added: "Quite frankly, her testimony is of great concern to this court."
Officials at Polk County Prison, where Mr Gibbon continues to remain in custody, previously refused to comment on his detention conditions for safety reasons.
Neighbours in Beaconsfield described Ms Wyld as the Brit granddad's "girlfriend" - and said she was often seen at his £800,000 semi-detached home.
One neighbour told The Sun: "Everybody is shocked by this."
Another, who said she was Wyld's friend, recalled: "Jasmine used to stay here a lot with the children. But I don't want to say much more because she is a friend of mine."
Family insiders claim tensions erupted years ago when Gibbon's son Alex allegedly found Wyld in his father's bed.
'About four years ago there was a big fall-out,' one source the Daily Mail.

'Alex went up the stairs and found Jasmine in his father's bed. They had a massive row. It's torn the family apart… there's been so much bad blood between Alex and his dad.'
Alex, 32, and Wyld separated in 2021 but share two young children.
The feud deepened when Alex was jailed for driving an £80,000 Porsche Cayenne into his father during a public row.
He was released six months ago, and father and son no longer speak.
Gibbon, who also runs hairdressing business Sage Hairdressing, allegedly pushed Wyld underwater during the Florida row after telling her she was not the main beneficiary of his will.
He reportedly admitted pushing her but denied trying to kill her, claiming they had both been drinking, she slapped him, and the situation escalated.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said: 'We expect vacationers to behave while they visit with us, just as we expect our life-long residents to do the same.
'Because Mr Gibbon couldn't control his anger, he may find himself spending a lot more time in Florida than he had anticipated.'
If convicted on all charges, Gibbon could face up to 20 years in jail.

Trump's Washington crime crackdown has wokies howling while law-abiding approve – so isn't it time we tried it here?
WHEN I recently landed Stateside, even my most right-on friends took me aside with hushed tones to warn which bits of town are strictly out of bounds. As a new arrival in Washington DC, I was immediately told to stay in my lane, never go to certain postcodes and never take the metro after sunset. 7 The FBI have led the multi-agency crackdown to clean up the streets of Washington DC Credit: Getty 7 The streets of DC have been swamped with federal agents, national guards and armoured vehicles Credit: The Mega Agency 7 US President Donald Trump ordered the clean up after a White House staffer was attacked Credit: Getty Quite why was never exactly spelt out, but after a teenage White House staffer was beaten up at 3am just a few streets from where I now live, it went without saying. Edward Coristine, 19, better known by his online nickname 'Big Balls', hit global headlines after being knocked seven shades of Sunday by two fellow teens in an attempted carjacking earlier this month. As a minor celebrity in the Trump administration, after he worked with Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, Big Balls' beating became far more than just another crime statistic in one of the most dangerous cities on the planet. Donald Trump used the shocking image of the bloodied lad to call time on rampant violence at the iconic heart of America. The President declared this week: 'I'm announcing a historic action to rescue our nation's capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor, and worse. Drug-addled crazy 'Our capital city has been overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals — roving mobs of wild youth, drugged-out maniacs, and homeless people.' He later followed up with a customary social media rant, writing: 'Crime, Savagery, Filth, and Scum will DISAPPEAR. I will MAKE OUR CAPITAL GREAT AGAIN!' Since then, the streets of DC have been swamped with federal agents, national guards and vehicles that would not look out of place on an actual battlefield. The internet is awash with videos of raids, checkpoints and patrols that have driven the lefties, who mostly make up this city, round the bend. Rough-sleeping encampments that have sprung up in cities across the west have been visibly dismantled, despite howls from roving protesters. Five US cities where Donald Trump could next launch militarized crime crackdown as DC launch exposes Democrat failures So far, so good, many normal and non-deranged residents have said. But you know what really takes the biscuit? Those very same right-on types that have their rules about where never to stroll are the very same ones saying the President has overstepped the mark, overreacted, is playing a political game or — among the most hysterical — sliding into all-out fascism. Better-off folk who live in nice bits of the city wax lyrical about how great things are, and how it's all a big stunt. Yet they are the same ones who shade out parts of the map, with warning signs, to new arrivals. Because they personally may not have been victims of crime, everything is clearly tickety-boo. Everyone knows someone who has witnessed something shocking, or had their own car broken into or turned a blind eye to a drug-addled crazy on their walk to work Harry Cole But drill down a little and everyone has a different story to tell. Everyone knows someone who has witnessed something shocking, or had their own car broken into or turned a blind eye to a drug-addled crazy on their walk to work. Trump's political enemies have walked straight into another one of his traps, as they defend the rights of violent criminals and gang-fuelled youths to roam and rampage on the streets at will. 7 Law enforcement agencies are following Trump's instructions to take tough action Credit: Getty 7 The President's critics claim the approach is too heavy-handed and targets the vulnerable Credit: Reuters With him seizing control of the local police structures and deploying federal powers, the Democrats warn that the President's actions in the capital are a mere overture for similar action in crime-ridden Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. But most law-abiding residents seem either remarkably unfazed by it all, or actively welcome somebody finally getting a grip. While the row rages on American networks over whether crime is actually falling in DC, if murder rates are down, or if the number of shootings and carjackings have in fact slumped since the pandemic, most normal people I have met are not upset to see something finally being done. The same arguments are being had in London and Washington. Yet it's surely time to do something about it rather than bury our heads in the sand Harry Cole Which got me thinking. If an American friend was landing in Britain, I would give them the exact- same briefing — which bits of town to avoid, where never to get your phone out and why it's best not to talk to nutters on buses. The same arguments are being had in London and Washington. Yet it's surely time to do something about it rather than bury our heads in the sand. People can see a marked decline in living standards due to muggings, snatchings, shoplifting, graffiti and all the rest. All the while, coppers are either dancing in the street, for clout on TikTok, or seemingly kicking in the doors of all the wrong people. Shovel a shelf of Greggs pastries into a bin bag in broad daylight and walk out, or tweet something daft and repent in haste . . . guess who is going to prison? 7 Many in the UK would like to see Donald Trump's strong messaging and action Credit: Publicly, ministers and well-off commentators point to fig-leaf statistics that overall crime is falling, while normal people use just their eyes and ears to tell a different story. Take the princeling of woke, podcaster Lewis Goodall, who frothed this week: 'London is being set up as this dystopian hellhole where you can barely walk out of your door . . . it's a Trump import!' Accusing anyone of calling out the noticeable rise in crime as a 'far-right' goon, he went on: 'London lives rent-free in their heads as it's living proof of how completely wrong they are — they have to lie about it!' Yet these virtue-signalling types, who tell Brits they've never had it so good, are falling into the exact-same traps as Trump's critics. While no one can accuse Sir Keir Starmer of having Donald Trump's flair, turn of phrase or gumption, the UK government could do worse than take a leaf out of the President's playbook this week The argument about whether sending in the heavies is mere theatrics, or will have a lasting effect, is still playing out here. But most fair-minded people, I suspect, would rather this than simply turning a blind eye to reality. While no one can accuse Sir Keir Starmer of having Donald Trump's flair, turn of phrase or gumption, the UK government could do worse than take a leaf out of the President's playbook this week. Like tough action on the US border has seen illegal immigration into the United States from Mexico grind to a halt, tough action on crime would be another no-brainer vote-winner. Just ignore the hypocrites. 7 Homelessness and poverty is the major problem in Washington DC Credit: James Breeden for The Sun

Police Scotland said McVey stabbed his victim for "absolutely no reason other than his own wickedness". Sean's family have taken part in a new Channel 5 documentary on the case called Murdered At First Sight. His girlfriend Chloe McCormick told the programme she found out after his death that he was planning to ask her to marry him. The couple had a son together, Oscar, who was one year old at the time of labourer Sean's death. Chloe, 25, said: "I just miss his laugh, hearing his voice. He made everyone laugh all the time. I have never moved on from it. Even now four years later I still think that there is nobody as good as him Chloe McCormick "I have never moved on from it. Even now four years later I still think that there is nobody as good as him. "After Sean died I found out he was going to ask me to marry him. He had spoken about it with his closest friends. "I would have said 'Yes' definitely." Chloe also said the prison sentence given to McVey should have been longer. Schoolboys, 13, charged after 'stealing and joyriding' delivery van in Scots town She added: "He was given 21 years but I've lost my partner, Oscar has lost his dad. It just wasn't enough." Relatives of Sean told how McVey has never explained his actions and treated them with contempt when they came face-to-face with him in court. The killer, who denied his guilt, shouted and swore and made an offensive hand gesture to the family as he was leaving the courtroom to begin his sentence. Sean's sister Simone said: "Gavin showed us all the middle finger as he went back downstairs after being found guilty. After Sean died I found out he was going to ask me to marry him. He had spoken about it with his closest friends. I would have said 'Yes' definitely Chloe McCormick "It made us feel horrible but it showed his character." His mum Debbie said: "Gavin McVey didn't give any reason. There was no reason why he could have killed him. "He didn't even speak in court. I thought we would maybe get answers why (it happened). "When the jury came back and said 'Guilty' it was brilliant. We all cheered." McVey, 42, denied his guilt throughout the trial and blamed another person who he was with for Sean's death. This was a senseless murder. What you did was despicable and cowardly Judge Lord Mulholland However, the court heard how he sent a text to a pal stating: "I killed some c**t" following the incident. Sentencing McVey, judge Lord Mulholland said: "You've been convicted of murder of Sean McKay - a young man with his whole life ahead of him. "He was on his way home from work when he encountered you under the influence of alcohol with a knife. "You've also delivered a life sentence of grief to his partner, son, mother, father, sister and other family and friends. "This was a senseless murder. What you did was despicable and cowardly." Murdered At First Sight will be shown on Channel 5 on Monday at 10pm. 5 Chloe has said she would have 'definitely' said yes to his proposal

And we can reveal he was working for cash before coming across the Channel to get bed and board for free. German asylum seekers are able to apply for work permits after three months to earn money in lieu of support. After 15 months, if their claim has not been processed, they can work any role without restrictions. Hanifyar, in his 20s, is believed to have been sacked in mid-December. In a letter seen by The Sun, a manager said: 'We hereby terminate your employment with Munchies during the probationary period.' A source said: 'He was dismissed due to a lack of language skills and repeated unpunctuality. 'He didn't act professionally and was terminated before probation.' We can also reveal he had been living in charity-funded 'refugee accommodation' on the outskirts of Berlin's Märkisch-Oderland. It means he had both a home and access to work in Germany — but still chose to ditch it for the UK. Coach-load of asylum seekers SPRINT into 4-star London migrant hotel after protests erupt outside We told yesterday how Hanifyar filmed himself on TikTok giving a guide to men on how to kill their wives if they attempt to leave them.
