
Which cricketer has won the most Player of the Month awards in history?
India's Shubman Gill made history by becoming the first male cricketer to win four ICC Player of the Month awards. His latest win came after an amazing performance in Test matches against England in July 2025, where he showed outstanding batting skills as India's Test captain.
Gill's remarkable achievement includes winning the award in February 2025, January 2023, and September 2023, before his latest July 2025 recognition. In the recent England series, he impressed everyone with consistent high scores, including a double century of 269 and another century of 103.

After receiving the award, Gill expressed his joy, saying: "It feels great to be named the ICC Player of the Month for July.
This time it holds a lot more significance since it has come for my performances during my first Test series as captain. The double ton in Birmingham is obviously something I will cherish forever and will be one of the highlights of my tour to England."
He further added: "The Test series against England was a learning experience for me as captain, and we had some outstanding performances from both sides, which I am sure players from both sides will remember for a long time.

Among other Indian cricketers, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah holds joint second place with two Player of the Month awards, won in June and December 2024. Also a winner of two awards was Shreyas Iyer (February 2022 and March 2025).
Five other Indian players have won the award once: Rishabh Pant (January 2021), Ravichandran Ashwin (February 2021), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (March 2021), Virat Kohli (October 2022), and Yashasvi Jaiswal (February 2024).

Dr. Vece Paes, a member of the 1972 Munich Olympic Games bronze-winning Indian hockey team and father of legendary tennis player Leander Paes, died in Kolkata on Thursday morning. He was 80 years old. Vece Paes with Leander Paes, who was suffering from advanced stage of Parkinson's disease, was admitted to a city hospital on Tuesday morning. Paes, who donned multiple hats in his long association with Indian sports, was a midfielder in the Indian hockey team. He also played several sports such as football, cricket and rugby and served as the president of the Indian Rugby Football Union from 1996 to 2002. A sports medicine doctor, he worked as a medical consultant with several sports bodies including the Asian Cricket Council, the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Indian Davis Cup team.
