Kia Syros SUV Clocks Record Sales In India For H1 2025, Details Inside
South Korea's second-largest carmaker, Kia, recorded its highest-ever sales in India during the first half of 2025, boosted by the successful launch of its new SUV Syros, as reported by the Korea Herald.
According to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Kia sold 142,139 units between January and June, exceeding its previous H1 record of 136,108 units set in 2023 by 4.4 per cent.
This marks a strong recovery from the sales dip experienced in 2024 and moves the company nearly halfway toward its 2025 full-year goal of 300,000 units in India, now the world's third-largest automotive market
Kia's market share in India climbed to 6.4 per cent, up 0.6 percentage points from the previous year, ranking the automaker sixth in the country's private passenger vehicle segment.
The launch of the Syros, a compact SUV, played a key role in the sales rebound. The Syros sold 24,371 units in H1 2025, following strong performances from Kia's other bestsellers such as Sonet SUV (45,277 units), Seltos SUV (36,883 units) and Carens MPV (34,056 units). With the help of Syros, Kia posted a 9.5% year-on-year sales increase in India during Q2 2025.
In July, Kia expanded its line up further by launching the Carens Clavis, an all-electric model, amid growing EV competition from both domestic players and global entrants like Tesla.
To support its growth, Kia has been scaling up local production and deepening collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to drive product development tailored for Indian consumers.
All Kia models sold in India, with the exception of imported EV6 and EV9 SUVs, are manufactured at its plant in Andhra Pradesh. Since starting operations in 2019, the facility produced 1,482,490 vehicles by the end of Q1 2025, having passed the 1-million-unit mark in 2023.

FinMin sees room for more rate cuts as inflation remains below RBIs target
Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Jul 28 (PTI) The finance ministry on Monday said there is room for further easing of interest rate by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as the inflation is comfortably below the central bank's median target of 4 per cent. Retail inflation, based on Consumer Price Index (CPI), has remained below 4 per cent since February and dipped further to more than six-year-low of 2.82 per cent in May. 'Core inflation remains subdued, and overall inflation is comfortably below the RBI's 4 per cent target, affording room for the easing cycle to be sustained," said the finance ministry's monthly review report. The central has cumulatively reduced the short-term benchmark lending rate (repo) by 100 basis points since February. The next meeting of the RBI's rate-setting panel — Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) — during August 4-6. The RBI has projected headline inflation at 3.4 per cent for the second quarter of the fiscal year, while in the first quarter, actual inflation came below the target of the RBI. 'It appears likely that the full fiscal year inflation rate would undershoot the central bank's expectation of 3.7 per cent," the report said. It further said global crude oil prices are expected to remain subdued, following a larger-than-anticipated production hike by OPEC and its allies, who raised output by 5,48,000 barrels per day in August, on top of the production increases announced for the previous months. On the fiscal front, both the Union and state governments have maintained momentum in capital expenditure while adhering to consolidation goals. The revenue sources remain buoyant despite the tax cuts, continuing on the double-digit growth path, the report said. The government has mandated the RBI to ensure inflation remains at 4 per cent with a margin of 2 per cent on the either side. Use of listed solar cell mandatory after 1 month of publication of ALMM list
New Delhi, Jul 28 (PTI) To ease out procedures for projects floated by government agencies, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has mandated the use of solar cells named in the Approved List of Models & Manufacturers (ALMM) only after one month of the publication of the list. The ALMM is a mechanism to ensure the reliability of a producer, for protecting consumer interests, while ensuring a larger energy security of the country. The government introduced the ALMM order (List I) in 2019 for solar modules to boost the manufacturing and usage of made-in-India solar panels. It was made mandatory to source PV modules from models and manufacturers included in the ALMM List I. Later with amendments to the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), the government included cells to the list as well. The ministry on Monday said that as a part of the amended procedure, the ALMM for solar PV cells will be mandatory only one month after the publication of ALMM list for solar PV cells, which is currently under process. However, the effective date for mandatory use of solar PV cells under ALMM list, for projects commissioned from June 1, 2026, onwards, will remain as notified earlier. Above measure is expected to give ample clarity to bidders in submitting their bids in tenders which are required to have provisions for bidders, to submit their bids, keeping in view the mandate for using both solar modules and cells from ALMM lists. The ministry noted that the ALMM mechanism has also ensured quick promotion of domestic solar manufacturing industry in the country, which currently stands at 91 GW of solar PV modules and 27 GW of solar PV cells, the MNRE said. This step will boost the domestic solar manufacturing projects in the country while adequately addressing the issues faced by the renewable power developers in complying with the ALMM for solar PV cells.
