Starz has announced that the Outlander Universe expansion prequel, Blood of My Blood , has been given an early Season 2 renewal. The prequel series will premiere on Friday, August 8th, with new episodes available to stream weekly on Fridays via the Starz app, and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms.
Production kicked off on Season 2 in Scotland this week, on the same stages where the mothership series Outlander filmed over the last decade.
'The passion and talent our cast and crew have poured into Outlander: Blood of my Blood has been extraordinary and we're thrilled to continue these epic love stories in Season Two,' shared Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner and executive producer of the new series, 'Just as audiences fell in love with Jamie and Claire, we hope viewers will be enamored by these new couples when they meet them this summer.'
The prequel follows the romance between Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), parents of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield), and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), parents of Jamie's soulmate across time, Claire Fraser (Caitríona Balfe).
From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th-century Scotland, two fated couples must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, intersecting in surprising and unforeseen ways. As a stand-alone series, viewers don't need to have watched Outlander to follow the storyline. However, for fans of the original series, there will be origin stories for many fan-favorite characters.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood also stars Tony Curran (Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat), Rory Alexander (Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser), Séamus McLean Ross (Colum MacKenzie), Sam Retford (Dougal MacKenzie) and Conor MacNeill (Ned Gowan).

‘Love Island USA' Season 7 Sets New Bar For Series, Soaring Past 1B Minutes Viewed In Week After Debut, Per Luminate

Love Island USA has undeniably elevated its profile since last year's bombshell of a season. The series returned with Season 7 on June 3 and by the end of the following week it was the second most-watched streaming show on television. From June 6 to 12, the season racked up 1.2B minutes viewed across nine available episodes, per Luminate's streaming data. More from Deadline 'Fubar' Season 2 Debut Barely Makes Netflix Weekly TV List Amid Steep Audience Decline As 'Ginny & Georgia' Remains On Top 'The Mortician' Becomes HBO's Most-Watched Documentary Series In Over 5 Years Streaming Hits New High, Surpassing Broadcast & Cable TV Viewing In May For First Time, Nielsen Says That's a 244% increase over the week prior, when the first few episodes drew about 335M minutes viewed. However, the most impressive gains are season-over-season. Season 6 outperformed every prior season of the show by a mile, but it wasn't until around the second week of July (which was about a month into the season's six-week run) that it really took off. In fact, Luminate reported that Season 6 had tallied 500.7M minutes viewed the week of June 21. Since Season 6 premiered on June 11, the timing is a bit off, but that's about 15 available episodes drawing half the weekly viewership that Season 7 has with nine. Season 6 didn't crack a billion minutes viewed until the week of July 8. Things have been heating up very quickly on Season 7 of Love Island USA, which airs nearly in real time. So, it is likely that the viewership will keep increasing, especially given that some of the series' signature and highly anticipated twists like Casa Amor and Movie Night have yet to happen. It will be interesting to see how far the show will go and whether it'll completely surpass Season 6's viewership high. Also, Love Island UK has also launched in the week since this data was recorded, which could affect Love Island USA viewership as well, since there is a bit of overlap in the audiences. Whether the impact will be positive or negative remains to be seen. The two could encourage increased engagement given that overlap, or it could end up fueling a bit of fatigue, since both shows air new episodes six days a week. The one thing that is clear is that Season 6 definitely catapulted the U.S. iteration of the reality dating series to unprecedented levels of popularity. The show's meteoric rise last season is likely due to a few factors. The cast does seem to have captured audience interest in a way that previous casts did not. That explains why Peacock has granted a whole new reality series to that cast, setting Love Island: Beyond the Villa to debut in July. Additionally, Vanderpump Rules' Ariana Madix also joined the series as its host last season, which undoubtedly elevated its profile as well. And, of course, last season's drama had social media, particularly TikTok, ablaze with commentary, which likely was a driving force behind increased engagement. Love Island USA is produced by ITV America. The series is based on a format owned by Lifted Entertainment and GroupM Motion Entertainment and distributed by ITV Studios. Luminate is owned by Deadline's parent company, Penske Media Corporation. Sean "Diddy" Combs' defense begins and ends in same day

The defense portion of Sean 'Diddy' Combs' highly-publicized sex trafficking trial both began and ended today. The prosecution rested earlier today after seven weeks of harrowing testimony from witnesses like Sean 'Diddy' Combs' ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, Ventura's family and friends, the mogul's former employees and collaborators, and more. Combs himself then spoke for what Variety reports as the longest amount of time since the trial began to tell Judge Arun Subramanian that he would not be taking the stand in his own defense. 'That is solely my decision. I mean, it's my decision with my lawyers,' Combs said after telling Subramanian he'd done an 'excellent job' with the trial thus far. Combs' lawyers proceeded to wrap up quickly without calling any additional witnesses to the stand, Deadline reports. It's a very similar tactic to the one employed by Harvey Weinstein's lawyers in the movie mogul's retrial earlier this month. That trial ended in a split verdict on two counts, with a mistrial on the third. It should be noted that the defense did mount a lengthy cross-examination of the prosecution's witnesses over the past seven weeks. The next stage in Combs' trial will see both sides present their closing arguments to the jury. That portion is set to begin June 26 and continue for at least a day, according to the trade. Jury deliberations will follow, with no set time limit on how long the 12-person group can take to reach a decision. If found guilty, Combs could spend the rest of his life behind bars. Netflix Keeps Venture Capitalist Jay Hoag On Its Board Despite Shareholders' Cold Shoulder

Netflix has decided to reject the resignation of venture capitalist Jay Hoag from its board of directors, despite his not achieving majority approval from shareholders to continue. After the outcome of the company's most recent shareholder meeting, Hoag submitted his resignation from the board. Under governance rules, the company then has the opportunity to accept or turn down the resignation. She will begin serving immediately before getting the opportunity for election to a full term at the company's 2026 shareholder meeting. Hoag, who has served on the Netflix board since 1999, received the negative vote from shareholders after proxy advisory firm ISS recommended his removal. Along with other critics, the firm pointed to Hoag's poor attendance of board and committee meetings in 2024, which slipped below 75%. In the five years prior to 2024, Netflix said in the filing, Hoag attended 97% of meetings. He 'remained engaged with the company and board activities by attending meetings with senior management, engaging in pre-board meeting memos, and helping to set agenda topics for meetings. In addition, Mr. Hoag has committed to returning to his historic pattern of meeting attendance and continuing to be fully committed to the board.' Netflix said it also factored in Hoag's 'valuable leadership and contributions to the board,' calling him 'an engaged and effective independent director' who brings 'strategic insights and financial expertise to the board.'
