Angel Reese Sends Clear Message After Chicago Sky's Blowout Loss to Indiana Fever
Angel Reese Sends Clear Message After Chicago Sky's Blowout Loss to Indiana Fever originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Angel Reese is not losing confidence despite the Chicago Sky's struggles this 2025 WNBA season. She made that abundantly clear on Sunday, a day after their loss to the Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever.

The 23-year-old Reese struggled mightily on the offensive end against the Fever, scoring just four points on 2-of-7 shooting as Chicago was blown out, 79-52.
Reese did grab 12 rebounds and dish out two assists, but her efforts were simply not enough. The Sky played poorly as a team, with no Chicago player scoring in double digits. Their best scorers were Rebecca Allen and Kamilla Cardoso, who had eight points each.

The Sky dropped to a 2-5 record as a result, and there's no end in sight for their on-court troubles — especially after the season-ending injury to starting point guard Courtney Vandersloot.

Despite her offensive woes and the issues the Sky are facing, though, Reese is not letting the problems bother her and affect her mentally. On Instagram, she posted a series of photos of her pregame outfit for the Fever showdown with a strong and clear message.
"I AM EXACTLY WHO I THINK I AM," Reese wrote.

In the seven games the Sky have played so far, Angel Reese averaged 9.1 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists. While her assist numbers are up by a bit, her scoring and rebounding are down, all while shooting an abysmal 30.9% from the field.
Last season, Reese put up 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds while shooting 39.1% overall.

Sure enough, the Sky will need Reese to recapture her old form and play more efficiently if they want to turn things around quickly. The good news is Reese has the right mindset despite their poor start to the campaign.

How to watch New York Liberty vs Indiana Fever: TV/stream info, preview, tip off time
The undefeated New York Liberty — the reigning WNBA champions — face off against the Indiana Fever in a Commissioner's Cup matchup this Saturday, June 14, at 3:00 PM ET. New York won its last contest against the Fever, 90-88, on May 24. The New York Liberty improved to 9-0 — its best start in franchise history — after defeating the Chicago Sky 85-66 on Tuesday at home. Sabrina Ionescu finished with 23 points, 7 assists, and 4 steals in the win, while Breanna Stewart added 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Kennedy Burke became just the fifth player in WNBA history to shoot 100% from three-point range on more than three attempts in back-to-back games. She finished with 15 points, three of which were three-pointers. Burke is in her second season with the Liberty. Tonight, Kennedy Burke became one of only 5 players in @WNBA history to shoot 100% from beyond the arc on more than three attempts in consecutive games, joining Catherine Kraayeveld (as the only other NYL player to do so), Jennifer Azzi, Briann January, and Alysha Clark. 'I had a great conversation with Kennedy in the offseason about what her role would look like, and this is exactly what I imagined. We have confidence in her,' said Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello. 'She's looking good, feeling good, and knowing that her players trust her out there.' Natasha Howard finished with a team-high 15 points and 10 rebounds in the loss. It was the team's fifth straight game without Caitlin Clark, who is out with a left quadriceps strain. Her last appearance was on May 24 against the Liberty. However, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year could return soon. 'We're ready to start ramping back up … It's completely different when you're just doing one-on-one workouts than when you're out there in five-on-five, getting up and down the floor and moving laterally,' said Indiana head coach Stephanie White. "[Clark's] been allowed to do some practicing, not everything. We're going to be smart and we're going to be cautious and we're going to play the long game and work her back in, very intentionally.' Tyrese Haliburton's girlfriend stuns in custom Pacers ensemble for Game 3 win
Jade Jones modeled the winning look on Wednesday night. Before Game 3 of the NBA Finals tipped off, the girlfriend of Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton took to her Instagram Stories to showcase the custom Indiana ensemble she rocked at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, where the home team topped the Thunder, 116-107, to take a 2-1 series lead. Jones, who has supported the Pacers throughout their playoff run, paired her black tank top and matching knee-high boots with a denim mini skirt that featured Pacers detailing. During Sunday's contest at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Jones — who recently celebrated her sixth anniversary with Haliburton — seemed to get into it with Thunder fans. 6 The couple celebrated six years of dating this spring. Those on the receiving end were not seen in the video, though. The Pacers are now two wins away from capturing their first NBA championship. Indiana won three titles in the 1970s when they were part of the American Basketball Association. Haliburton has been with the Pacers since 2022. He was originally traded in February that year by the Kings, who selected him 12th overall out of Iowa State in the 2020 NBA Draft. Game 4 is set for Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Boxer Claressa Shields Upset Over Losing BET Award To Angel Reese, Social Media Jabs At Her
The BET Awards primarily focus on the best in Black entertainment, particularly in music and acting, but one of the most significant controversies on Monday night arose from the winner of a sports category. The Sportswoman of the Year went to the Chicago Sky's Angel Reese for the third time in a row. While it's hard to argue Reese's impact on women's sports, the category was stacked with heavy hitters like Dawn Staley, A'ja Wilson, Sha'Carri Richardson, Simone Biles, Flau'jae Johnson, Coco Gauff, JuJu Watkins, and Claressa Shields. And it was the undefeated boxing champ Shields who took to social media to complain about Reese coming out on top. 'Still don't know how I didn't win the Sportswoman of the Year for the @BETAwards,' Shields wrote. 'But, Congrats to Angel Reese and all the other Nominees [shrug emoji] I just thought accolades mattered.' Reese fans immediately hopped into her comments to argue her point, including one who wrote, 'You got [a lot] ms shields but reese has accolades too.' 'Yes she does but who has more accolades…. More success in their field. Please use google before responding,' Shields responded. The pushback of Reese rightfully deserving the award continued after the whirlwind of popularity she's had, with Shields conceding a bit but still thinking it's undeserved. 'Ain't nobody saying Angel Reese don't have accolades or she not good,' she said. 'I'm saying I thought the person with 'THE MOST' accolades & accomplishments would win the Award. I'm team Angel Reese!' Shields still enjoyed her night out at the awards alongside her boyfriend, Papoose, and posted a carousel of photos to her Instagram, settling for just being a BET nominee. 'Fortunate For All My Blessings [trophy emoji] For My First BET Nomination, I came how a Champion Should. We Enjoyed the Full @Betawards @bet Experience!' she wrote. Nicknamed the GWOAT, Shields is pretty accomplished, having won several world championships in five different weight classes, and is the first American boxer to win consecutive Olympic medals. There wasn't any noise made on the men's side of that same award. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts won, but the nominees were Aaron Judge, Anthony Edwards, Deion Sanders, Jayson Tatum, LeBron James, Saquon Barkley, and Stephen Curry. See social media's response to Shields' competitiveness below.
