Ron 97, diesel prices in Peninsular Malaysia down by 3 sen
KUALA LUMPUR: The retail price of RON97 petrol in Peninsular Malaysia will be reduced by three sen to RM3.07 per litre from June 5 to 11, 2025, in line with the drop in global oil market prices, according to the Finance Ministry (MOF).
In a statement today, the Finance Ministry also announced that the retail price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will similarly be reduced by three sen to RM2.74 per litre for the same period, while the price of RON95 petrol remains unchanged at RM2.05 per litre.
"The retail price of diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan will also remain at RM2.15 per litre," said the ministry.
The weekly pricing of petroleum products is determined using the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula, taking into account current global crude oil market trends.
The statement also noted that the government will continue to take appropriate measures to ensure the welfare and well-being of the people are safeguarded. — BERNAMA

MCMC Clarifies Mobile Phone Data Collection Amid Media Reports, Ensures Privacy
KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has clarified its collection of mobile phone data (MPD) from Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), assuring that no Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is accessed, processed, or disclosed. The clarification comes amid recent media reports regarding the matter. In a statement today, MCMC said MPD was used strictly for the generation of official statistics to support evidence-based policymaking in two key domains, namely the ICT Sector and the Tourism Sector. For the ICT Sector, MPD helps produce granular statistics, such as the number of active mobile broadband subscriptions and penetration rates at the state, district, mukim, parliamentary constituency, state legislative assembly (DUN), and local authority levels. For the Tourism Sector, it generates indicators such as the number of visitors and domestic tourism trips. 'The MPD data requested from MNOs is anonymised and contains no PII. 'In addition, MNOs are given the option to either process the MPD data within their own secure environment and submit the required anonymised and aggregated output to MCMC, or, for MNOs without in-house processing capabilities, to submit the anonymised data to MCMC for processing. 'In both cases, no individual subscriber can be identified through the data collected,' it said. MCMC further clarified that the use of MPD as a new source of national statistics was a strategic direction set by the government to strengthen the quality and timeliness of statistical outputs for policy and planning purposes. Implementation of MPD is through collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the UN Committee of Experts on Big Data and Data Science, it added. Over the past two years, MCMC said extensive engagement with all MNOs had been carried out to ensure mutual understanding of the data requirements, processes, and privacy safeguards.

CPO Futures End Lower On Rising Output Concerns
By Durratul Ain Ahmad Fuad KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- The crude palm oil (CPO) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended lower today due to concerns over rising production, according to palm oil trader David Ng. He said weaker soybean oil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade during Asian trading hours also weighed on market sentiment. 'The rising production is mainly due to seasonality. We see prices supported at RM3,800 per tonne and resistance at RM4,000 per tonne,' he told Bernama. At the close, the spot-month June 2025 and July 2025 contracts dropped RM42 each to RM3,904 per tonne and RM3,923 per tonne, respectively. August 2025 fell RM45 to RM3,903 per tonne, September 2025 and October 2025 declined RM47 each to RM3,890 per tonne and RM3,886 per tonne respectively, and November 2025 reduced RM40 to RM3,891 per tonne. Trading volume improved to 64,761 lots from 59,422 lots yesterday, while open interest edged up to 245,562 contracts from 245,345 contracts previously. The physical CPO price for June South decreased by RM50 to RM3,950 per tonne. -- BERNAMA
